Hello, I wanted to talk about a topic, I spoke with wa666r who wanted to do a translation of the map Ultimate Battle v 2.50 into Spanish since I have a group where we play a lot but there are new ones who don't understand English and have a hard time playing it, I was asking what version I should use warcratf or editor so that there are no errors and also if it had protection or something since when I open the map with the editor I get "unit data is missing or invalid"

    You definitely gonna need v1.27b. I used to open the map using Jass Newgen Pack (v3+). You gonna have to search it around; its kind of old map editor.

    It was what I had been talking about earlier. It is not that great overall, but for many years, that is all we had to make the game look (slightly) better

    Because the diffuse textures were low resotution (128x128) and the original developers never created any detail textures, they look very unconvincing to me. To browse them, you may use Gildor's tool

    The pack of normal and height map textures by Darknovismc must be used along with his DX11 Renderer. They will add bump mapping / parallax mapping to the 128x128 original textures of the game. The driver itself will add extra rendering eyecandy, with some limitations because the original developers never released publicly the headers for the game.

    To change character models, one would have to create a project similar to this one for Unreal/UT99:

    Its basically based on original AI scripts of WE. I export those scripts from WE and open them with wordpad, then edit (replace, add) the unit variable code. Some specific tasks such as heroes casting custom spells, using custom items, and other gameplay need more works with custom triggers, though.

    Well, technically someone said they have trouble with Dalaran AI. After a random moment, the map crash to desktop without any errors. Two possibilities can be the loop leaks inside Dalaran spell triggers, or the AI itself caused by outdated Objected Data. I will try to create a brand new AI and test if this problem persists. Until then, we can enjoy other things.

    I did some small tests, and inserting a nonexistent object ID to the AI script did not cause a crash. It only made the AI not build anything it should build after this.
    This doesn't mean that it is it's definitely not object data, but something here is a bit fishy. You could extract your Dalaran AI as an .ai file and look at it in a notepad, there you can search for the actual order strings more easily to see if there is a problem.

    Thank you. I also think about AI using "too many effects" or "too many summoned units". Dalaran is created heavily based on this concept. So maybe that's why the game crash without errors, something similar to Out of Memory issues. I'm not sure.

    Minecraft uses voxels to store terrain data, but it does *not* use voxel rendering techniques. Instead it uses *polygon* rendering to display each voxel as a cubic "block".
