  • Hello my friend! I have a question that you might know the answer to.
    I want to create a map in War3 in which some events are created from the computer. I want it to be singleplayer.
    But I want to be able to write in a txt file something like "spawn monster, move" etc, and the map to read it from there and apply it in the game.
    Is this possible?

    This was possible by exploiting preloader scripts in patch 1.32, but 1.33 broke it so that multiple reads of the same file would return the previous contents. Then, maybe, that might've been fixed in like 1.35??

    So, you would have to test it. Use the preloader script to set the tooltip of an ability or something, so that the code inside the map can run code outside the map and then read from the tooltip that was assigned from outside the map

    Ty, I had no idea a private message feature existed, nor you can ping someone with the @username 😅
    I don't know if that causes desyncs. I have read in a few articles, that floating point arithmetic can generally indeed cause desyncs and therefore, often some kind of fixed-point numbers are used in games. However, even if this would be the cause for desyncs in wc3, I see little what we can do about it, since most natives and wc3 internals operate with the real datatype (which is just a 32 bit float)... and we can't really get around that.
    Are you Ricola from the map maker duo Ricola and Micola? The ones that use to make mazes?

    Si t'as besoin d'info au niveau d'assets (modèle, icones) tu peux me demander, j'ai grind énormement d'assets sur différent sites et je peux en faire si ça prend pas trop de temps.
    Please put the maps in the same map thread if they're not very different. A player number cap increase is not a big difference.
