Regarding WC3 v1.13, another way to play this version could be to download from Blizzard's servers the free v1.27a digital version. And then you can downgrade it to 1.13 with a third-party downgrader.
These third-party downgraders each have their own specific merits and downfalls. afaik none of them will give you an exact binarily identical set of folders and files, especially when compared against a properly upgraded 100% official WC3 game. But hey, neither is the official v1.27a digital version to begin with when compared to a genuine 1.27a. The reason is, this version is an "a2" version, despite the full version number being identical to the one for v1.27a
v1.27 has some memory management issues and the environmental audio has been disabled, which is imho a sin (it was restored in 1.30.0). Therefore, it is not the same WC3 experience. I want some enhancements, but I also want most of the classic code to be retained whenever possible.
The real problems started happening with 1.28.0. v1.27a/b is still ok overall imho.
Version switchers are a mixed bag. Therefore, I used to do the same thing as you for WC3 v1.26a/1.27a/1.27b only, as well as for StarCraft Classic (especially because of v1.12). But as time passes, I am getting older and lazier...
