    There is no particular cause related to the changes i made since none of them could cause desync. However, version 1.31 of Warcraft is known to have great desync issues on maps which previously worked fine.
    Hi, I just wanted to thank you for something.
    The other day I remembered playing America: No Peace Beyond the Line and I got it again and played it.
    I had such memories from my childhood with it, and I wondered if there's any recreation of it in Warcraft.
    Then I saw your teepee model and saw that you actually played that game and wanted to recreate it in Warcraft, and that gave me a huge nostalgia and respect hit ;)

    Thank you! I too have very fond memories of that game, it's unfortunate that it was poorly balanced and that the sounds were incredibly repetitive. All of the art was beautiful though, and the horse and guns mechanic were really unique. :)
    I have more models for it on my harddrive, they just need some touching up before i can release them. I've got the chieftains teepee, teepee of the elders, campfire, and the wood processing structure.
    Whats the custom unit sound set you used for vehicles in World in Flames? And how do you use/add them into custom maps?

    I'm not actually sure where i got it from... someone (maybe it was TotalWarrior?) sent me some zips with RTS voiceovers. Anyway, in order to replace in-game sounds, you just go to the sound editor, right-click a sound, and choose "replace internal sound". If you do this for an entire unit sound set, you can then use that sound set on a unit.

    Hey, I installed the MDL exporter plugin for Blender. I imported a working MDX file and tried to export it to MDL but got this error (the exported MDL also could not be opened):

    Hey, umm, Fingolfin, I'd like to ask, do you still have your Starcraft 2 models? even the incomplete ones? If so, is it fine if I ask for a copy of it? I'd like to test out some stuff with the models in Magos, especially the incomplete ones. And I could probably use them in some SC2 map I will work on once I get a hold of all the models I need. (I don't exactly post stuff tho XD)

    Oh, i thought you were referencing my Blender MDL exporter...
    Well, in 3ds Max 5, you need to click on the button which says "Standard" in the material editor and then choose "Warcraft III" (if you have art tools installed). Under "Extended Parameters" you have blend modes. Opaque = None, 2 Color Alpha = Transparent (alpha clip), Full Alpha = Blend, the rest are the same.

    There are two options available in the MDL format too (Modulate, Modulate2X). Modulate2X is a version of modulate where grey is neutral (rather than white being neutral). It's basically [BackgroundColor] * [MaterialColor] * 2.

    Battleships targeting all ground units is a change mentioned in the changelog and was done to increase the relevance of navy units. I'd appreciate you opinion on this though. I tried to match up the event with the actual invasion of the Philippines.

    I don't know why you had to add anti air to all ships, I think it will just make it even worse, also you increased HP of Dive Bombers but what about Fighters, maybe give them a special armour so they very strong against flak but weak against fighters, or give them more HP too.
    Changelog did not mention bug fix of soviet troops being affected by winter debuff. Has it not been fixed?

    @Fingolfin well I can't say until I try it a few games, but I meant the rest of the events are given a long time before so they give you time to prepare, and this is the only "relevant" one.

    I have untextured models of both the Bismarck and the King George V. I'm actually working on another WW2 or possibly WW1 map currently, much more centered around supply lines and the logistics of war. It might feature many of the old WiF models.

    One of my favourite things in World in Flames was to play as either Japan or America and do some island hopping, though I always wished for it to be based more on transporting of troops from one island to the other rather than capturing one city and spamming units to conquer the rest of the island.
    Unfortunately it never came down to that as it was far easier to just go straight for Japan or America.
    You're so good at making models, do you ever think about selling some of them? Or do you already? What can you tell me otherwise?

    I work with programming and 3D-modeling professionally for a big marketing company, and frankly i make too muck money from it to actually care about selling models privately.
    Hey Fin, since you made a splendid airplane system I'm wondering what your thoughts are on how a similar system for cars would play out. Would it be plausible or just too quirky? What the goals would be is to add some realistic acceleration, coasting and drag to units to mimic car movement. My biggest qualm would relate to the steering, with planes if you press a new angle it just redirects instantly with a car would it turn in a roundabout way instead?

    Thinking some more on it, the biggest issue is not steering but probably collision with objects in it's path causing them to get stuck or glitch.

    Yeah, i remember trying this once in an effort to replicate the Men of War vehicle behavior, but unfortunately it's a bit more complex than with the planes... it would be possible though to use a system similar to the ship movement in my naval battle map, but you'd have to also script the attacks more or less. Car physics are also much more complex since you have different drag characteristics depending on the angle between the velocity and the wheel direction. It's a whole science.

Seeing as you made the map, I was hoping that you'd be able to point things out for him, that kind of thing (he's 61, so I don't know how easy it'll be).

    Actually, do you know of any Sci-Fi/StarCraft assets that are not in the model database here? I'm especially interested in buildings or anything of similar style/quality to your stalker/marauder and Misha's dragoon. Sorry to be such a bother, I'm just trying to make a good-looking starcraft/sci-fi mod that doesn't feel clunky and for that I need models with good animations and style such as yours.

    Hey man, I feel like an annoying neighbour but can I ask a quick question/favour? Do you happen to have any unreleased Starcraft resources? Can also be general sci-fi. I'm going for a "The Expanse" aesthetic and the Terran and Protoss (and some Star Wars) models you have made before are really good for what I'm going in terms of aesthetic and design.
    Hey now, don't expect more than the bat of an eye in regards of effort from this spectacular modeler if you yourself can't be bothered to take the effort to compliment their work xD

    Hello, I really like your Sindar and High Elven swordsman models. Would it be possible to combine them into one hero unit without too much work? Or would would that change everything?
    Im looking to add an Elladan and Elrohir hero to a map, and it would be perfect.

    Hi Fingolfin, I've been looking around for the best pine tree models, and yours are the ones! I just have a problem with the swaying animations and stump height. Mind if I lower the trees and remove that animation? And... how would I do that? I know about magos, I just have zero 3D modeling experience.
    Yes indeed, this latest patch seemed to have disturbed most of good custom wc3 maps we play.. and we really miss world in flames Fingolfin, at least reconsider it once again, i completely support Marcus and i assume there are a lot more people who care about this magnificent map you made....Come on fix it bro :D We usually hosted it everyday...we are really missing ur good Map ;)

    I've played a bit of WiF and I've seen a few problems creep up
    -Sea points are destroyed instead of captured
    -Fog thickness messes with visibility with the new resolution
    Fingolfin the greatest model editor of all times, why do you not reconsider your world in flames project? It has attributes to be the most fun ww2/wc3 map?
