That's great to hear! I've been meaning to ask, is this story about Soul Reaver or one of the Companions?
    Soul Reaver
    Soul Reaver
No - it's more typical high/dark fantasy fare, and the scale of everything is intentionally smaller (though it's still set in the multiverse, the main character is just a mortal being and hasn't even heard of the Warp).

The story is about Karg, an Orc employed in the dungeon of an 'evil wizard'. But he's sick of servitude and decides he wants out - expect he's alone and lost in the depths of a very hostile dungeon.

There are typical fantasy elements as well as horror elements. The combat system etc is kept intentionally simple, but I think the story itself should be a real draw card.

Hey Soul Reaver, it's been a while. Are you still working on Escape from the Depths??
Greetings, I am canario0896 and I would like to ask your permission to be able to translate your campaign "to the bitter end" into the Spanish language.
I'm sorry for my English, and thanks for everything.

(Post) I should not possibly have equal reputation to you, in a fair reputation system that is. You have 770K downlods, I have 5k. How come we both have same reputation????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????? I dont accept this.
Hey Soul Reaver, did you get my email about how I've finally fixed my redux of Fei Seruman? I've removed the blindfold and added Fei's green eyes. I left the surrounding skin transparent since I still couldn't blend it right. Check your private messages for Pastebin URL.

Are you still waiting to hear back from Anthony Passmore? I remember you telling me how he may be hard to get a hold of sometimes. Also, if you were planning any sequels or other Multiverse projects, I'd love to hear about 'em. Maybe I could start helping out too. :)
I there! Im from Argentina, so sorry for my bad english.
I will be very pleased if you let me translate your campaigns to Spanish. Im part of a very big Latin American Warcraft 3 Communnity and they will be very interested in undestand better your amazing campaigns, since not everyone have a decent level of english.

    Hello alanmar,

Thank you for the offer. I would be happy to get a chance to share To the Bitter End with more people, but at the same time I have to admit I'm a little bit unsure if it's a good idea.

What you're proposing is possible, but it will be a huge amount of work to do for you. More importantly, it would probably be very difficult to do properly if your English is not very good.

It's important to me that any translations are high quality - I myself can't speak/read Spanish and so don't have any way to verify if what you're writing is capturing the same meaning I intended. I don't want it to be translated if you're not fluent in the language - I want it to be written by someone that grasps both the English and is skilled in the language it's being translated into. Have you handled any other translations before?
    Soul Reaver
    Soul Reaver
Translations would have to done via the extracted text string files, which I would then re-import to create a new map archive. I'll also have to modify some text myself (which I'll do by asking you to translate for me, then typing the changes myself). Precision will be very important to ensure everything imports as it should.

You would also need to translate the manual and a few parts of the official website so I can host it, which isn't a small task either.

There's also one last complicating factor: I'm a dad now so I don't have as much time for modding as I used to. I can still do this sort of thing but it might take me longer than it once did.

If this is something you still want to do and are confident in your translation abilities, please send me an email ([email protected]), and we can see where we go from there.

(Post) Hi man, just came back from a long hiatus. Your campaign is still one of the best stuff I've ever played and I can frankly say that it influenced a lot on who I am nowadays even after all of these years. Take this small token of appreciation :)
    hi
a question, you not working on new Campaign?
    Soul Reaver
    Soul Reaver
No, not a Warcraft 3 campaign. I'm writing a gamebook at the moment, which I hope to make into a standalone game when done (or, if I don't manage that, publish as an actual book).

The working title is 'Escape from the Depths'.

Thanks for the suggestion. It's a pretty good song, but maybe a little too action-y.

But the current song, while much more uncomfortable, reflects Fei's state of mind better - the madness clawing at him, the screaming, the sense of him having/being changed by an irresistible impulse.

Even just the first few lines are perfect:
    "I beat my machine
    It's a part of me
    It's inside of me
    I'm stuck in this dream
    It's changing me
    I am becoming"

Plus NIN has an important part in the history of the Multiverse tandem story - it was John Wilt's favorite band, is still popular with several senior members and deemed to be perfect 'character theme songs', so I wanted them to have a presence in the soundtrack.

But don't get me wrong, I enjoyed listening to Corner (particularly the instrumentals) and I'm happy you thought of me to suggest it!
    Soul Reaver
    Soul Reaver
Well, it's the main tandem story. We can't stop it just because one player left. It belongs to more than just one person. I just wanted to give such a long-standing character an appropriate send-off in the story, not have him anticlimatically drop out or slip away.

Yeah, well, the result is pretty much the same. It's what also happens when actors get out of series.

    Soul Reaver
True, but it's preferable to him just not posting anymore without anyone even even acknowledging his sudden disappearance.

At least this way he gets a climatic exit.
Just wondering, is the story in To the Bitter End based off a roleplay?
    Soul Reaver
    Soul Reaver
A sort of tandem story, yes, which has been going for many years, though it's a lot slower nowadays than it used to be. It doesn't really have formal stats/rules as such, and the different writers take turn being the "Battle Host" (ie, the DM). The current story is here: http://administorum.com/index.php?topic=569.40

I see. So there seemed to be versions and sequels of the roleplay, I think?

    Interesting.

It's more like an ongoing story, with a number of consecutive plot arcs. Starting from the very beginning up until now, they're named as follows (some names given later, since the first few plot arcs hadn't been given a name at the time):
    Beginnings
    Godslayer
    The Ancient Vampire Lords
    Chaos and Clutchfiend
The Bonds of Betrayal (followed by Tranquil After the Storm)
The Weaver of Destiny (followed by The Aftermath)
Salt in the Wound, Part 1
    The Eye of Terror

The participants in the different stories have changed quite a bit over time. I think now I'm the one one who's been there uninterrupted since Beginnings, which would make Soul Reaver the longest-running character.
Hey, do you know somewhere or one I could ask a loading screen from? Or a selection screen? Thanks man.

No, a place to download already made art. I don't have enough money for a custom-made piece of art for me.
    Soul Reaver

It kind of depends on what type of art you're after. Google is your friend: under the image search, under 'Tools', you can modify your search category under License to search for art "Labeled for noncommercial reuse" - that way you'll get a bunch of images that you can use as long as you don't make money of them, so that's an easy start.
    Soul Reaver

An alternative is to find an image that you like and ask the creator/owner if they would mind you using it. Again, it depends what art you're after. DeviantArt has a huge amount of stuff though the quality varies significantly (https://www.deviantart.com/). Personally I think the ConceptArt forums are full of brilliant artists (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/) but be aware most of them are there looking for work. That said, they might still be willing if you're asking to use something they're already displaying for free, provided that due credit is given. Won't hurt to ask as long as you're polite about it and won't be offended if you get turned down.
Any plans for a new story or something :D?

I'd suggest adding a fourth difficulty :D for lazy and retarded people like me.
    Soul Reaver
    Soul Reaver
Probably no new stories, no. I'm busy working on a gamebook though - that'll be my next project.

I might possibly revise the existing difficulties at some point, but it feels like a lot of effort to create a new release just for that. Maybe if I find some other bugs or things that needs fixing as well I'll also revise the difficulty for that bugfix release.
    deepstrasz

About difficulties. You could, I think use upgrades or auras to increase/decrease (shift+double click for negative numbers) life, mana, damage, attack and move speed of enemy units. Or better yet, buff the heroes instead. It's easier.

Not trying to be a smart aleck as I know you've got more mapping experience than me but just saying as a reminder. I'd really love a more relaxing version of this piece of art.
