  • .. do you actually want to practice and make some nice models, instead of distorting war3 models? I'm asking because i don't want to constantly say 'you did it wrong' S:

    what you need is to learn how to model in milkshape, or blender.; you need to get the hang of creating a new shape from either scratch or basic shape. so.. do you wish to try tinkering by extruding and connecting parts from planes with blender, or build up the whole model from scratch with milkshape? answer that and i'll send you a few tutorials

    Milkshape:
    Pros:
    1 can lay out vertices and easily connect them into triangles, which you can use to quickly build up a mesh.
    2 can easily duplicate and flip meshes, so you only need to do one half.
    3 can animate, but its finicky
    Cons:
    1 doesn't wrap texture all that well
    2 can import mdx, but destroys everything but the mesh, so you need to redo all from scratch or re-rig after exporting
    3 needs to be bought

    Blender;
    Pros:
    1 interface that you can rotate around while working
    2 easy cut/copy/paste and wrapping system, and it even previews it in 'real time' ;it also can animate
    3: is free
    Cons:
    1 can not convert to, or from war3 format
    2 has no visible 'redo' command and 'undo' can easily wipe out all your work if you're not careful
    3 sometimes it has problems in moving or editing some meshes
