  • hey, the black legion guy model, have you tried setting his textures to twosided and see if that fixes the hole in his head?
    D
hmm.. you can get the basic from here : http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/miscellaneous-tutorials-456/customizing-your-warcraft-207843/

    and here : http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/general-mapping-tutorials-278/custom-mpq-246641/

i think if you want some more detail, you can check out playdota forum for more info. there's a lot of people who used to mod their own DotA with custom resources, models and skins.

i learn how to mod my own dota by local site from my country which using indonesian language.
    D
ow, so you want to mod your own DotA? i use to do that too. but with hive model that use ingame textures

as far as i concern, you don't need to unprotect the map. you just need to know each path of the model that you want to change. i think it connected by editing the .slk data of the map. just edit the .slk files and change the path of resources that you want to change e.g models, sound etc.

and then inject it to your map to replace the .slk files of the map with thiago d d tools http://thiagodd.blogspot.co.id/2013/01/mods-patcher.html

the green icon and the map preview doesn't show up, is probably because it's not converted properly or doesn't have a proper alpha channel. you can try to reconvert it using war3 viewer/blp lab/magos model editor.
    Hello.

I've decided to improve your golems helmet just a tiny bit. See here: Click.

The thing is - i think that you might have missed a very fancy button on mdlvis that allows to move a part of a mesh into a different geoset:

I've selected that thingie in his helmet, moved it into a new geoset and wrapped it black. That way you can also apply new textures to different parts of model and much much more.

This might help you with rewrapping. Cheers!

hmmm. not all of them is DotA 2 models. it's mixed with remasterd HQ textures, DotA 2 cosmic models and HQ wow models. such frostwyrm and zet the arc warden use the model from the wow last time i test it.

but the 6.83d map have a bug though, it's still in beta phase. last time i test it, the previous map version that the mod provided is the most optimized and bug free.

you can always play with your friends even if the model isn't dota 2 afaik. the change is only visible to you as you play it. if you use the mod, just don't host a game with DotA HQ map. since other people might not installed DotA HQ and might cause some visual issue.
    D
seems that you using the old one. or did you make the modification by yourself? you definetely should check this one out for the best DotA modification out there if you didn't check it yet : http://dota-hq.blogspot.co.id/
    D
this screenshot. you use some dota 2 modification mod? :3

well that's a model extracted from another blizzard game.. it's fine being there, but here it would not be included if it's not really optimized for warcraft 3, which i doubt it is..

and i'm also on chaos realm, i just have 'DaGreat' added on my nick :xxd:
well ripped means when something is torn, like.. ripped jeans, so in this case this was 'torn' from somewhere else, just like WoW models are ripped, aka 'torn' from their own game

can you link me the comment that said that, btw?
because one gets better ideas that way? oO
and criticism isn't people what whine that they don't like something :b
walk animation is a funky thing, it always starts with the frame where one leg is right ahead, already doing a running or walking pose, then it goes into frames of that leg going to back so the other leg gets into a similar position as the first one, and from there it goes again into the pose from the first frame
so yeah, walk anim does not start/end with a 'stand anim' pose

as for the animating itself, i think 'walking cycle' or 'running cycle' images could help you lill more than me, if they show every move the body makes in separate images
the term is either 'animate', or 'tweak animation' :)

mdlvis is always better for tweaking
milkshape can be used to either make something from scratch, or to edit an existing model, but, on every import, it just 'destroys' everything but the mesh, so model editing is better on mdlvis, if you don't fancy making everything from scratch, or rigging it back once you exported it from milkshape
oh i see.. well blender is not really that compatible with current war3-model-making programs, the most useful are milkshape and mdlvis, first one needs to be bought, the second is free, but both have their own pros and cons. milkshape destroys all bones/rigging but the one you save as its own format, but its the better one at creating custom, scratch-made models. Mdlvis is not really that good at creating models, and can be lill buggy, but it doesn't destroy the bones or rigging, can edit and rewrap models pretty quickly. both programs can animate, but both have different number of keyframes for a second. my signature says about milkshape
well, don't rush, try to learn new things and implement them, like.. nicer animations, proper scratch-modeling.. and maybe a few other things i can't think of right now
    D
    cool :)

you can also link my tyrael icon to your model thread. i guess people will find it usefull :3
feels alright? have you tested it in your game to make sure it doesn't crash? i noticed one 'unnamed' event object
i feel you improved it alright, i'm going to moderate your model if i see its good enough
everything else seems fine in mesh/animation
i haven't tested ingame to see if it has all needed attachment points, death/attack sounds, and other node manager doodads
yeah i like the new hood. but the sword could use being replaced
http://gear.blizzard.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/650x650/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/B/6/B61363.jpg this is really how Tyrael's sword looks, and it its much simpler than yours, same design on both sides

anyway, anims are all fitting, except the 'spell' which would be better to be renamed to 'walk fast' as it is just that, dashing you could give him a new spell

that's that so far, didn't really test it ingame yet, waiting on you to decide when you'll update your model here

edit: actually, that 'dash' animation is not fitting anywhere with how incomplete it is.. better remove it
this seems alright, but.. his face is still a massive amount of polys and it shouldn't be, you should replace his face with just a simplified concave cover, so it looks like the hood is totally black inside, that way it'll have that diablo-feel that tyrael doesn't even have a face, which, of course is false, but looks very cool.

second, why does he still have a corpse geoset? this and its textures need to be removed.. and lastly, i don't know, but his sword seems lill too detailed
Hurmm...That's a shame. Why don't you post that resource here. It's where all simple resource belong and will never be rejected.Unless, It's restricted.
villager seems to have two death sounds, one of a peasant and one as villager, so check out if yours has the same thing and delete the one that ain't 'kid' death sound
hey, i saw the villager kid model. whatcha think, can you fix the clipping that happens when he walks? and also, what are his death sounds? villager or kid?
