    Sorry I neglected to answer that question - totally slipped my mind. If I'm honest at this point I don't remember if it supports it: it was made against a specification, if it doesn't by default it's only be possible with code modification which I'm not really willing to do (hate working on old code)

Though honestly, you don't even need to 'legislate' something like that; a screenshot of the base-in-action (with units & buildings) will necessarily have pictures of the terrain they are built on (& thus any incident Blight or whatever).

    Huh. When you say "conflict", do you mean in the sense that it uses the same model/abilities/etc (same Theme & Role) as the existing Firelord, or simply that it's a big fiery elemental-type hero (which is too similar, thematically, to the Firelord)?

    If the latter, well, I guess that's one of the downsides. If the former... Hm. I would not have thought we could just re-use existing stuff (at least, not too much/too big; a Footman and a Grunt are pretty similar with a model-swap & some other bits, so our "Tier 1 Melee" choice may not be super-creative but...).

    So the extra hero is being added to the Tavern, not to your race itself? That just seems... Weird. It is not technically a part of the Rules that you can't do that; but aside from doing more work, it seems strange that some entries will feature stock Taverns and others might feature modified ones. Kind of a bad comparison between the two.

    Ah, ok. You realize that the phrase "somehow" after the word "useful" changes the meaning to one of tacit acceptance/surprised admittance? As in "(somehow, i don't know how (i expected it wouldn't)), your template proved useful"

    Without a smiley or any other indication that you were joking, all I could do was read it & take it at "face value" as sarcasm. Glad that it wasn't.

    I just realized that I've been viewing it on a half-screen this whole time, meaning the "1" and the "0" were split on different lines. I still don't think it would be remiss to shove it down a line for us tiny-screen-ers, but it's not so imperative now.

    Yeah, I'm still not sure I follow. But here's the point; you have a Contest Rule which directly contradicts a Contest Criteria. Specifically, the Judging Criteria labeled "Theme" for a full 10 points which reads in part, "How well the various elements of the Faction ... fit together in... the chosen Contest Theme." Literally, we are having people judged & awarded/withheld points based on how well they fit the Contest Theme & the Theme they chose... And the one Rule that talks about that, you essentially negated.

    Do you see the issue here?

    ".w3x" is a file format; technically, it's just an extension which denotes a format. What I'm talking about is a standardized (important) formatting standard for the naming of the file itself (in this case, a Contest entry), and provided some salient suggestions.

    #1) It is not. There are still a few months to go & people will join late. Besides, #2 & #3 point out that people will be re-naming it anyway, so changing the name of the "base download map" doesn't matter.
    #2) Even if it was too late, it doesn't matter; people literally have to rename it, if only because they want to put version numbers or their name/race on theirs. More importantly, this must be so so that when all are downloaded they don't all still have the same name.
    #3) As I said, I literally could not even test my map without changing (shortening, mainly) the name, so I'm sorry but that's what had to happen (at least for me & probably for others).

    It's either to replace a vanilla tavern hero\Mercenary unit with a new one due to your race having the same hero\unit

    Woah, wait, so we can use existing stuff in our race? Like even so far as to wholesale 'yoink' an existing Tavern hero & put it into ours?? What's the point of that?

    I'm not even sure what mythological race could use one of the Tavern heroes/mercenary units, to be honest. But if it could, it seems like it would be cheating somehow.

    That pack contains all the abilities I intended it to - if I am to add more resources to a pack it'd be a different one
    Sadly I have so many started project and models that I cant.just randomly start new ones. Thats why I mostly dont take.requests. Always busy doing new.stuff and.old stuff.
    I thought of it when I started doing it. And I am thinking about making some new ancients tree buildings, but dont have started yet.
    I dont think so. It is not really type to be a building. Its very thin, not like the others ancients or ents for example. It is a unit, maximally useable as doodad.
    He has alternate animation, where he just stands in hybernation form, where he is rooted, like the ancients of night elves. He resemble tree with high canopy, his hands on his shoulders crossed on the chest. And than he has morph animation when he uproot itself and than it has normal animations - walk, attack, stand, die etc. The idea was to have something like giant sleeping forest guardian, who coule wait even thousands of years and when needed, he wakes up and helps to protect the land.
    couldnt find, seems to got dubiously lost, must have accidentaly overwritten or something. If you or anybody can remake the _portrait of it i would include it to fix the pack.
    Well like all my models, it needs some time to settle and let me freely think what to make better and so on. And that model has a lot of animations because its based on wow anims. It has like 34 animations. Skull general has even something around 72.
    Well its more or less finished. Just thinking about updating the mesh...maybe do a new haircut.

    Better idea. Give users freedom of their choice, let them use whatever they want. The only rule there should be it should fit int othe basic meele game schematics, so no townhall bugs, no multiple heroes etc. I'll p'm you the system we used 10 years ago at arcane.pl for some race contests ( i translated as much as necesary to understand how the triggers work)
    1. Well about the "Ancient elvhen" pack (Queen of vengeance, ent and others), it will take some times. I put a lot of work in those models. They are based on wow animations, which I manually altered one by one - so basicly right now I have some models with more than 70 animations and theyx use ingame textures and have something about 200-300 kb and sometimes even less, but still more work needs to be done with mesh, effects and other stuff - they are right now my best models so far. But dont worry, they will be released. You have my word.

    2. I dont mind suggestions. Its good to ave opinions of others, but always actions of my own.
    The sheathed shield you suggested looked good so I put it in all the worker animations where his shield was hidden (which makes a bit more sense).

    I used an optimizer program form the Hive to do linear animation optimization like you said Ujimasa Hojo was doing, and it didn't work (broke the model). So, I wrote a program of my own to do it (might not be as good, but model is not broken). Do you know what software Ujimasa Hojo uses for linear optimization?

    I also ran it through Mdx Squisher, which is suppose to reduce file size when stored in maps:

    I'm trying to decide if I make an elven race based on the Sylvans from Might and Magic or make my original Idea that I've posted on the thread

    Your new idea is much more promissing and less modeling work needed. You could make Elven Alliance Mythology from the Disciples Games. Or stick with the Sylvans from Might and Magic. Both are great sources.

    PS: I will gladly help you on what I can, when the contest starts.

    Can you let me know on what tree model will work for Terokkar Forest in my Campaign?
    It will be a great help if you know which one will be useful for the map.
    Using Dalaran Ruins for the tileset as well and it looks very good.
    Use the contest templates and resources to create a proper contest submission with the theme that won the poll.

    From there we'll pick a moderator to oversee it and approve it (move it to the main forum) when everything is okay.
    I'm not sure I get it. Never encountered SRBTN before (is that just the name the guy gave to his border?). As far as the BTN's darkening, you'll need to create a transparent layer of black underneath the portrait (something like 80% or 90% opacity) and save it as a PNG with transparency. I think TGA can handle transparency/alpha too? This should darken the icons while preserving the custom border.
    Oh I must have misunderstood you then. Place your custom border in the custom folder in your Button Manager installation directory. Then in Button Manager itself, you can switch from standard borders to custom borders with F3 and F4 respectively (or click on Tools and select User borders for your custom borders). A list will replace the standard borders. Just select the custom border you want and save as.

    I'm not sure if the border has to be in tga for it to work, but I'm assuming it should work with blp as well. If not, just convert it to tga using BLP Lab and then paste it in the custom folder.

    It's simple: load your picture, click on the button labeled [Disabled] and save your image as a BLP. Disabled icon made :)
    Yeah there where problems before so please do not use script but copy and paste objects from "object editor" as well as from "import manager" to your map + DD Universal Pack library + Shadow Crossing trigger to your map.

    Well in game you should be limiting yourself. If it gets too long it will be obnoxious for a player. A good example is Magic the Gathering flavor text. Whatever you do I would make your text limit about four times what I had in the screenshot.
    You want to keep the primary white text description short and informational. You can then do a colored flavor text below all of that with lore.
    Do you mean in game for units or the uploaded map file on this site?
    Well in that case you don't have to keep the archer male then. I wouldn't bother changing it tho.
