I don't get exactly 100% what you mean but here's my opinion on the matter.
Unused space has nothing wrong. If it is not relevant at all to the cinematic, I wouldn't care about it. Look at my Fight of Mages and Searing Conflict. Almost 50% of them are empty space and there wasn't any need for me to fill them or use them.
