• Well, Posted.
I couldn't explain in detail, I just felt something wrong and it turned out to be right :D
I haven't got a map development thread, yet as I think it would be too early.
I will base the new map on my current LTW-Evolution v2.x map but with completely redesigned gameplay and units as well as gameplay mechanics.

So basically it will be base on Line Tower Wars but still be played very differently.
I am also very excited to see if my concepts are good.^^

Maybe I will create a map development thread in some weeks to further iterate over some ideas etc.
I fixed it and figured out that I attached 2 geosets together to one bone xD
Hey, I can tell you more about the concept of the map I am making if you are interested. Looking forward to your awesome creations! ;)
A
Thanks a lot :)
The sphere could be divided in 20 different, same-sized parts and an additional transparent ( ~glassy) sphere around the 20 filling geosets, that's around what the requester would like to achieve
I am quite well, I've been focusing on finding loopholes on the map editor, and I actually found a method of going far over the tile limit.

I've got a few models that are ready to be uploaded, but none of them are WotK, and a few of them need finalized animations.

What have you been up to?
A
I am fine, too, thank you :)

I wanted to do this request, but, do you know how to create a transparent sphere that has different 'fill levels' ?
Hi, Hayate! If you read this message so prevent me because I have something to ask you.
A
I did not leave now :p but thanks
I saw that tutorial but i had to ask you bcz i knew you used blender for models too

Okay thanks, I have photoshop as well, is there a tutorial about texturing as well? I couldnt find any :/
A
I might leave Hive forever, I don't know...
hey Hayate, whats up?

I want to ask you something, I liked your model in the contest and if you know I'm trying to make a model as well, I need some assistance if you can help me with some questions;

Okay, I have blender, maya, milkshape 3d and wc3 model editor, I want to create the model in blender or maya bcz they are so much better than the other two, but the problem is, how can I texture the wizard and how can i make custom animations for the wizard?
A
Damnit, Hayate, now I cannot stop thinking about my old WIP thread :p
I think I will post my 2D stuff from the workshop there
For which parts, specifically? Seems like the front part is pretty good (at least the right colors), but the chair & leggings & tail are all white, and the side-things are all blue?...

(Perhaps something to try is to "block out" sections into the appropriate color (just pick whatever texture is the appropriate color, doesn't matter for now), so you can see how it all should look, aesthetically. IIRC, the thigh-plates are wood? And the bone-throne is... well bone. :p)

I'm really gonna have to search for textures; I've never been good at that, and I've been out of the 'warcraft' loop for some number of months now. :< I can say that we wanted

One thing to point out (gah, don't want to waste time with Paint... Just have to find some images I guess...); when I said "bone throne", I was trying to lean away from something like this, this, this, or this... And instead, lean more towards this, except instead of spines, more like two giant, differently-sized (femur) bones.
(that 2nd-to-last picture is miserable, but hopefully it gets the message across; not so much a full on 'chair/throne', as it is two big dino-bones lashed together to make a "pseudo-throne")

Hope that helps.

~~~
Also, something I forgot to say in the PM: Looking at this WIP, I believe you got the arms/hands right on this one. Perhaps re-use that mesh?
Well it's not, around 2000-2500, but that's because I didnt quite know how to properly use milkshape. I still need to learn how to make bones and rig the mesh to them. Thanks, I wish you a good luck too. :)
Yeah, the current one has too many poligons for such a simple model. Just need to find good reference...
A
Well, I don't need it really, but thank you :)
I am going to be inactive for some time soon, sooo, do well :)
A
Yes, thank you :) I usually use this one, as you suggested me a long time ago ;)
But it seems not to work for Warcraft :/
Lol, I understand.
Well, like I said, I appreciate you trying. But if it's too hard/too rusty, I don't mind you trying to texture it (yourself? Or someone else?). Just gotta fit in-game.
Hm. Well, I prefer in-game textures for three main reasons ("more apt to fit in-game" & "no need to get a texturer/artist involved = less work" & "takes up less space")... But it wouldn't be the 'end of the world'. : ) Why do you ask? Having trouble with the Naga wrap?
(grateful to hear your still thinking/working on him ^_^)
A
Just taking a break to recover myself and get stuff fixed :) thanks for asking
A
Haha, great to hear ^^
I think you already asked me this once upon a ling time ;)
Yes, I have one, but I hardly use it + I forgot my password and I am too lazy/ there is no need to reset it currently
A
Ohh, now I am jealous :D haha, that's nice
Well, I am sure you will eventually find the right words :)
A
Everything ^^ Life, school, modelling contest, et cetera
A
Thanks a lot, Hayate :)
How is it going ?
A
Great, thanks!
Uhmm, I don't want to be petty, but could you remove the slightly black borders ?
They are visible in my skill tree :(
A
Hm, if you manage to find the conversation between me and Apheraz Lucent, she made a quick tutorial in a VM for me, maybe it still exists.
Another thing, I posted somewhere in the 2D section a post about a map thread WIP where APproject commented and gave some basic tipps.
About a general tutorial, if Hive has none, then I don't now, sadly. Maybe it is something I could create a tutorial for.
Hm, the problem is that the UV-Mapping is wrong. It only shows a part of the icon texture, but when I try to fix it with Mdlvis it crashes.
Could you re-size the model to exactly 64x64 and make the UV-Mapping perfectly show the icon, please ? You are my hope :)
A
Wow, I am impressed!
A background, hm.. maybe take a lot of time to draw one or just let him as he is ^^
A
Ah, you underestimate yourself, Hayate :p
It is already good, all basics are involved :) Looks quite impressive
I love his face, he is like 'Don't come nearer or you will regret it' ^^
A
Ah, I am sure getting into 2D art improves your skills for 3D, too, since drawing 2D is nothing else than composing shadows and highlight, which you have to take in mind when creating a mesh :)
Well, if you need exercises, I can give you some :p for practice
I am excited for the new models!
A
I am not sure, I will try tomorrow again. Basically the texture I set for an animation turns black once the animation is played in the editor, although I use a default Blizzard one for now and it is shown for the other, unassigned animations I added.
by the way, do you participate in the current model contest ?
A
Oh good, thank you.
I have problems with changing the texture, tho..
A
Hey, when I create an animation to change the texture of this square model, can I choose a very close interval then ? Like '10 to 11' or do I have to use these high numbers like '1500 to 1900' ?
Do small intervals cause lag, since they are looped ?
