  • The Prothean race is not one race, it is all the sentinent races from the previous circle were being called protheans. It is unknown if they knew if it was one race or many in ME1.
    So, you can still imagine what you wish, Javik was just one of the races.

    About the mobile shit, yes it is made to squeeze money from mobile gamer-wannabes via fucking inapp microtransitions and even the fucking main game costs money. Fuck you EA. It has almost no story and is complete crap. Don't even bother checking it out. Any game made for fucking mobile is shit.

    Seeing that our game interests are similar, have you by any chance played any of these:

    Assassin's Creed Series, Amnesia - The Dark Descent, Heretic II, HoMM5, King's Bounty Series, Myst Series (Personal Favorites), Silver (another favorite), Terraria, Ys Origin?
    Most certainly. People can work on 1024 and then resize to 512.
    Yeah, maximum should be 512 for the blp entry/
    It's always best to work on larger size even for those pesky flags and whatnot you can think of :D

    I suppose that the upper limit should be 512x512 since that's the most that wc3 uses(won't use above that even if you make one of 1024[dem compressing issues]).

    I don't see why we should limit it to 256x256(however the contestant can lower the size if he prefers to). I find that annoying since it's really hard to work on that size and it's loosing a lot of details.

    What do you say?
    I'm all for texturing custom doodad models if people want that as well.

    About making custom models during the contest...well that seems a bit dickish to me since not all can do models.
    It would be best to see what people think of this.

    How does it become 10000 spells? For each unit, there are 11 potential types they can transform into. So that means you'll need 11*12 = 132 abilities.

    An alternative method is to create an "intermediate" unit, e.g. named "dummy". You can make an ability for the dummy to transform into any of the 12 unit types. Then for each of the 12 unit types, you would make an ability to transform to the dummy.

    This way, it will look like: Original form -> Dummy form -> Final form

    That way, you only need 12 + 12 = 24 abilities. :)
    I combined some of those and dismissed some since those were similar to older themes that were made.
    I dismissed Nobles, Insectoid, Warhammer 40k, Zerg(should I add that back since it's similar to the alien one?).

    MASS EFFECT SPOILERS ALERT!

    Renegade Shepard has his moments. Sometimes, when playing Paragon, I click renegade options just because they sound epic and enjoy the reaction of others. But yeah, the usual renegade is "Look at me I'm a douchebag".
    ME1 had nice story, characters and everything, but there were too many generic quests around the galaxy that barely had any story (like WoW quests), which I hated. My favorite moment from ME1 is when you convince Saren that Sovereign is controlling him and he thanks for and shoots himself. ME2 was very interesting for me, seeing that Shepard dies and the one company you fought during ME1 (in those lame quests anyway) is helping you. There were a lot of characters, some of which generic as fuck (Jackob, Miranda and Grunt for the most part), others very interesting (Thane, Kasumi, Legion), too bad that most of them are not in your crew in ME3. It is awesome that even when Cerberus "betrays" you, the cerberus members in your crew stay with you. The suicide mission is a very nice touch, as if you're not prepared, you can lose all your crew, making ME3 rather "interesting", or not making it to ME3 anyway. The human reaper bossfight was also nice, revealing more of the story of reapers.
    ME3 on the other hand, begun with quite dull story and lame citadel quests. The interesting elements were that you had a prothean in your crew and there were direct attacks by reapers. It all epilogued towards the end, giving us the most satisfying endings of all time, all of which can be chosen my the player. (I'm talking about the ending patch ofcourse). I loved the confrontation with the Illusive man and the Catalyst. My favorite part about ME story is that it is based on a vicious circle and only you can end it once and for all. The soundtracks, the combat, everything is freaking awesome in these games, and I can, with a hand on my hearth, say that it is one of my favorites, if not my favorite Triology. (P.S. the mobile adaptation was shit, just like all the other mobile shits)
    I like to pretend WoW lore never happened. It is easier for me that way. Otherwise every damn night I would be dreaming about pandas in dreanor and all the other shit.
    BTW Mass Effect has one of the best lores of any game I know. I'm commander Shepard and this is my favorite store on the citadel! :D All hail Sheploo!

    I don't think you have to use NewGen. It should just work as it is. Let me know if you find the solution.

    WoW might have been great, but one of the most important aspects in a game for me is the Lore. Jesus, even Runescape has got better lore than WoW. And the Warcraft universe is rich as fuck. It must've been difficult for them to screw up so hard.
    And thus, from the time of WoW can shitty decisions be seen from Blizzard's side: The first of which is that they cancelled a finished game that looked awesome and was a new genre to the company: Starcraft Ghost. It was done dammit!
    And since then everything went downhill. They might make more money now, but I have little respect left for them. Valve is kinda the same. And please don't get me started on the last WoW expansions... Let's tie all fucking loose ends with the deaths of the main characters by villainifying them, and when they ran out the started resurrecting old villains like Deathwing, then without any further ideas they started turning easter eggs from previous games into expansions (Pandaria) AND the GRAND FUCKING FUCKUP was: "Hey, we don't have any more ideas, lets go back in fucking time and FUCK THE STORY BEFORE IT BEGAN!". If an employee of blizzard is ever reading this and had a finger in any of these things, FUCK YOU!

    About the Dota 2 modeling, my items are not awesome. Not as awesome as I've seen in the workshop or ingame. And I don't really give a fuck what price they put on it, $100 if they want, I just want people who have my items to like them... Like, to add more content to the game, you know... Seems Valve is against the idea...
    That is so true... Since Valve they've made only shit, or made nothing at all. Just like Blizzard and WoW.

    Yeah, a lot of awesome models get rejected and I don't even know why...
    The model I have made is a simple anchor to fin on kunkka's back, but I haven't made even the textures yet, not to mention all the different masks...
    Even if it does get done I doubt it will get approved, it's valve afterall :p

    The 3DS max interface is really complicated for me aswell, I had to watch 10 tutorials to get the hang of simplest model edits and it still is hard and I can't get used to it. In blender I couldn't even find out how to create shapes :p We'll see about maya. I can always watch some tutorials, thing is I am lazy as fuck most of the time...
    I tried doing some models for Dota 2 in 3DS, ended up doing them in Milkshape and exporting, then I got stuck, because of all the masks and complicated stuff that are required for Dota 2... Someday... With the help of someone I will probably finish that model. :)
    I haven't asked the staff just yet.

    It's just a downer that the skinning mod hasn't shown yet(Kwaliti), you know so that we can settle things faster.

    I mean the UV's whatsoever in 67chrome's signature the one linking to the UV's i think you know it. It is just like a template for texturing.

    Do you have the UV maps of every war3 skins? Needed it badly, it seems I can't dowbload on w3c (mobile phone, it can't download things from that site, damn it). I'm trying to practice. :3

    It works quite well. It must be something wrong with your map.

    Sadly, I don't have access to a computer with the editor for a while. You can make a thread for it, and someone can make a proper demo map with everything set up.

    Well, that's okay. I wish I knew how to work with blender/3ds...
    You can make animations (which sometimes bug terribly :/), but you cannot import them. There is some complicated way, but I've never needed to import an animation anyway.
    Well, there are probably some plugins and stuff to get it going, but I'd instead be a little pirate :3
