  • Thanks so much! I tried out the 4-part method and it worked great. It looks so much better now. It still isn't that great, but I suppose it's the best I can get. Thanks again!
Hey, I have a question about something. I noticed that the loading screen for Iceborn looks very high quality, so I'm wondering, how did you manage to keep it that high quality? I've been meaning to add custom loading screens to my upcoming campaign, but no matter how I try, they just don't seem to turn out well. Thanks in advance!
Thanks! You always grab a lot of useful stuffs so I'm really looking forward to it.

Hmm it seems that I don't have to change the texture of most of the stuffs that I grabbed from your map. It seems that the Custom DnC covers the cartoony texture of wow and makes it fit the high-res texture of b2m in my map.
I just check it. I can really use many of the stuffs here. :) I think they'll really fit the atmosphere that I'm trying to make. The question now is if it will blend well with the texture type that I'm using for my project but I can always try re-skinning some of it.
Hi AP you think I can ask a favor(again)? You see I'm currently working on this terrain and at the moment I'm lacking some doodads to work with. So here is the favor I'm asking, you think you can give me a clean map(no terrain, trigger and other unnecessary object data) of your Acheron's Affliction? There are some doodads that interests me there but if not then maybe I can just request those stuffs?

Its okay if you don't like sharing it atm.
Hi, sorry for this huge delay of my reply. Yeah, it would be fine. Did you finish your entry? I'm confused, I thought no one made it.
Hmm, yeah, never thought of that. Lol, silly me. Thanks for the tip. And for animating I guess I'll just have to find some alternatives for it.

Yeah, I'll consult you again after I finish the stuffs we talked about and in need of more guidance. :) Good luck with your own project, I'm pretty sure that many are waiting for your updates.
We can also add some switch that will only open paths for some secret rewards! The switching pattern reminds me of an old ps game that I played before. Hmmm, maybe I'll open it again to have a more clear visual of that to ease the making a little bit.

I still have other ideas but it seems that some of them might need some animating or adding some particles of some doodad, never tried those ideas yet but I hope I can find some alternatives when I start working on this.

Question, did you animate some stuffs to fit your ideas for Iceborn?

Talking to you was really the right thing to do, it cleared some of my frustrations about puzzles. Thanks.
I believe that it will only make the puzzle easy to understand and not make the puzzle easy. The only thing that the character will say is how he thinks the mechanics of puzzle is. Something like this:

"Hmm.. I think this pillars have something to do about that barrier. I should try moving this around."

I think you can put some of this kind of dialogues to help ease down the "What the heck?" factor of your puzzles for Acheron's Affliction.

Your lever idea sounds promising for me since it will be the most logical way of solving puzzle for my character since he lacks magic.

I also have this idea where the two room are separated by a long maze. Some path are block so you have to hit a switch but when you hit one switch some paths will also be altered. Something like the stairs on the Hogwart's school on Harry Potter where the stairs switches floors but instead periodic timer it switches by hitting some switch
If you'd seen the gameplay vid and reach the lever thingy, I'll make almost all the puzzles have that every start have a cinematic telling them the mechanics of the puzzle some of your puzzles relies on visual hint(just looking for the obvious thing that you'll need to do/use) that is why it is really confusing at times. XD. I'll guide the players while they're actually playing the game through Van Eastmore's dialogues. It will be just a lot of if/then/else to check if the player is having a hard time doing the puzzle or a part of it.

Also I already decided that puzzles is a must do, it is part of the major challenges of the story. Van Eastmore will be dealing with Necromancers and necromancers are magicians and magicians are clever. I'm willing to take time on every puzzle as long as I can pull off some decent quality :)

And in-case they still cannot finish a puzzle and will have to pm me then I guess I'll just have to deal with it.

Nah I'll reach the 3rd chapter anyway. No spoilers plx!

    EDIT:

I'm currently working on a simple puzzle where you have to unblock the gates. This is the trick that I'm going

Before Unlocking gate A you have to hit lever A but lever A is block by gate B and so you have to search for gate B this even will take place in a maze like path so looking for it will be a little tricky but not hard enough because there are only occasional dead ends but this dead ends have chest as rewards so no time wasted.
The Hero in TLoVE cannot naturally use magic, his spell abilities will come in the form of scrolls. However I'm thinking of some situations where he'll be able to use magical tools to do X. The map starts just like your any other rpg but dark magic and necromancy will come into play later so I think that we can pull of some pretty cool things with that theme.

I actually already thought some things that I can use based on your puzzles(like the time where you have to use this cannon like thingy to grab items I think I can use that to like open a gate or to trigger some events).

If you think you'll have some few spare time to help, since I'm pretty sure you're very busy yourself, then I'll gladly accept. :)
As one of the currently most prolific wc3 editors, you might sometimes be annoyed that wc3 does not have this or that feature. If you want, add your thoughts to my (mostly hypothetical) wc3 1.27 wish list or comment it.

It appears to be a placement problem. if "InitiateNeodexPlugins" is not loaded then you messed up when setting the folders. Normaly you should extract all the folders in the installation folder of 3dsmax. Exactly as they are, afterwards you run the installation script.

If you don't know where your 3dsmax installation folder is, run 3ds max, go to maxscript listener and type:
    getDir #maxRoot
that's where you should place the files.
