  • I've been off and busy with tons of stuff, and just haven't had a good bunch of spare time set aside for the workshop. It should happen one of these days, but today I have some real-life paperwork I have to do and stuff, and there's some more stuff tomorrow, and graduation commencement practice the day after that.
    I think time will come, though -- I just have to remember it.

    Recording the tools that I use to model would be a very good idea, although I've been trying to start using more newer tools as much as I can. Along with the advent of the Matrix Eater, I also in writing it and considering what sorts of tools would help me grew to realize an increasing amount what more could be done with the tools that I already had -- and there are things like Magos's, which I've only been using at most for about a year, and I still haven't figured out all the quirks of yet. But it has some features (like deleting stuff!) that the Matrix Eater doesn't have yet, which is pretty handy.
    Another really import thing to do is just to understand the programming components that are available to you within a model -- in writing the Matrix Eater, I tried to make it read and write all parts of a model, which actually forced me to understand some of them better than I had previously. I remember a few years ago I started writing a documentation of all of the components in an MDL and never finished it -- I wonder if actually finishing it might allow me to help other people model, too.
    I made a 80 minute set of videos on youtube that mostly just are me going through my typical model-developing process and having fun with a new feature in the Matrix Eater, but in trying to decide what to do with the fact that most people don't want to watch 80 minutes of video I was left thinking that I ought to make short (maybe 5 mins a piece) videos of how to perform certain tasks with the Matrix Eater -- perhaps I should make videos like that for modeling in general, to help increase the general knowledge of people trying to do MDL editing.
    Anyway, I got this scholarship I need to sign up for that's due like tomorrow that I've had all month to do, so I'm going to go do that.
    Here it is.. for now. The right part of the stone stuff - http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/pastebin_data/5ern7v/Preview.jpg The rocks need some color (which will come from a light source, later), less contrast and I need to fix the... lets call it, obelisk, cuz it's shading is kinda wrong. These aren't minor problems but.. hmm. I'll see to them later. I have to make the left part tomorrow (or today, that depends), watery part tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, and details the day after tomorrow too. Then comes the fiery part + wind (it should take less time since it's a lot smaller...).

    In about 5-6 days, if there's nothing to slow me down I'll be done. I can rush it, but I'm not in the mood of drawing any longer. I need some rest from too much music o.O

    If you need it faster just say, I don't mind working a bit more :)
    Ergh. Well.. the problem is. That the UI's basic size is like ... I dont know 1280x800 something like that, and I gotta make it like 4000x3500 and resize it to get better quality. Other than that it's simple - have an idea, start drawing. Details are kinda.. the hard thing for me :) Well. the idea can be problematic too at times. But thhat's all.

    If you are referring to textures and such.. well.. it's a bit weird - see, the texture is cut in like 10 parts - so after I draw it as one, I gotta cut them and place them on these 10 parts. There comes this annnooooooooyying problem - if you make 1 pixel difference, it doesn't match well. So it's.. kinda annoying xD , the counting part. Then you convert to blp (except one part which stays as .TGA, I have no idea why, but it doesnt work otherwise xD). ANd.. you import them and .. done! :cgrin:
    Ok. I'm going to get to work now :] I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish it soon though.. I mean.. I suck at making details and it takes me a lot of time to figure out the light and all this.. shading, different texture type, etc. I'm still learning these stuff :\

    hmm.. but there isn't much space for wind up there. K. I'll do it this way :) the upper part, however, will also have to have some wood (which will be the burning part) or stone to make the separations between numbers
    urgh.. just this.. last. disturbance

    earth - tree and rocks
    fire - lava and fire and magma rocks
    wind - tornado and lightning (I know it's not wind but... xD WIND!?!)
    water - water, waterfalls, lakes, H2O bubbles, etc. watery rocks

    Tell me if you don't like something (these are the stuff I can use) or if you want to change something.

    Hmm. K. Btw, do you know where I can find the Full Texture (not in parts) somewhere in war3 viewer? Cuz I don't want to match them, it takes time :D

    Hmm. I can.. I guess. Make. A tornado? or something like that? And.. do you want it to be more like Particle effects or like material grayish stuff which will blend better with the atmosphere of warcraft and not be so.. eye-catching?

    WOW! I would love to, make an UI with 4 elements :D Otherwise it's too boring xD! So. what are the elements. where do I find your map ?
    Hmm.. Using this texture I think. But. first you gotta explain me what I must do .. I mean. What exactly to change - make the slots inventory white and whiten the rocks a bit? That would be. Hmm. Tell me for what type of project you need it so that I can know what I must do :D
    Urgh. Firstly - I don't care about rep so there is no need to waste time giving it to me. Secondly - what exactly do you want me to fix xD?! I mean, work on it, or make it anew?
    reply for the one in my workshop: "I started modeling by messing in the "Model Editor" inside Magos. But! I do not suggest you do the same thing, you should start of with Retera's tool which is much easier to use, but learn the basics in Magos :)

    You mean just plain rock? see, I'm not that good at making rock textures, and it will NOT be as good as the Human UI, which is kinda obvious xD, I will do it if you insist but if I had some.. detail stuff to add, it will make it look, not only a lot cooler, but easier and more interesting for me to make. Like... I don't know, leaves like in NE UI, Bones like in the Undead UI, etc. But since it's a Human UI.. what will it have? Hmm.. and first, you gotta tell me what you need it for cuz I need to know how to make it. For example, if you need it for another human race in some map you're using, but they are more like bandit guys and stone doesn't fit them, I would add some leather and such stuff, spears in one corner, etc. ^^

    urgh well.. yeah. It's like.. a huge texture, a skin :) nothing more. It just takes more time and. it's a bit annoying after the 3rd hour xD but it's pretty interesting --> I mean it's like. Cool. Making a texture of the User interface.. you can make so many interesting designs! it's pretty cool.
