There's this genetic algorithm that I've heard of several times, but I can't find any good papers that explain it well =o
People /have/ made robots that think for themselves, but not very advanced ones.

The only methods for achieving working Artificial Intelligence that I know of include creating hundreds and thousands of libraries and functions that do very simple but useful tasks like decision making based on current state, understanding the content of certain sentences, being able to respond to certain sentences and most importantly, being able to learn.

To learn is to acquire data, process it, understand it's content, and save it in some database, but what's difficult is knowing what data to process, understand and index, and what data to ignore D:

In fact, a learning robot needs to know if what it's learning is correct, so it needs a library that manages the validity of the facts that it indexed and all the data that it has.

It's really a boatload of complex shit

i would also like to request the apheraz never be allowed to judge ever again. at least for the techtree contest.

MY GOD they were so HORRIBLE and her attempts at HUMOR were just plain AWFUL

actually, there was a lot of effort that went into the submission. i have no idea why people look at the tooltips and go 'oh this entire race had 0 effort'. it was partly to see how people would react to bad tooltips, and so far, people have reacted unintelligently, as they judge a book by its cover.

anyway, it seems that the fact that i don't spam you with pms every time i get butthurt by someone has once again bitten me in the ass. perhaps i should be more of a softcock in future.

actually, it wasn't about a judge that doesn't suit my needs. it's about a judge that is so incompetent in the field that it's pretty obvious that she didn't really play the races that she didn't like on first instinct.

ghostthruster supported everything i said, and added more of his own. did you read her judging? it was abysmal.

the purpose of the contest was to make a techtree without any imports and one that followed the rules of submission. my submission did all of that. to remove mine from the contest would look real bad for you, especially in light of what the admins must be discussing.

mind you, it is supposedly against the rules to troll, and it's quite clear that he was aiming to aggravate

if you don't see that, then i'm just going to emulate his style and get away with even more, all the while making people incredibly mad and irritated

Sorry if i came out too angry, but i am sort of stressed lately due to my exams not going well and then i see this ...

I do however feel that this contest had a lot more drama than THW usually provides, i will stop with the arguments and trust VKael on his judging.

Don't get me wrong i am still kind of furious and hurt that this sort of thing happened but out of respect to you guys im backing off any further debate since it will bring no good to any of us.

Gonna relax and enjoy other things i guess, sorry for the trouble if i caused any.

What will prevent people from rioting at judge's call every single time then?

If people search enough for a reason, they will find it. This could lead to multiple judging on every contest until the "hurt" party isn't satisfied.

Shouldn't this matter above all? The host is the one who makes the shots, if you found the judge valid, why do you lose integrity when your judgement is questioned?

I understand your need to soothe the public but this is rushed like hell, none of the other contestants who participated haven't shared their opinion, which is again the same weight of those two.

But i don't understand, he was the appointed judge, who made him a judge if he wasn't supposed to judge it? He didn't do it by himself.

This contest is so full of drama.

incidentally, how come i always got punished, but kingz never did, despite all his angst he gave me since the public polls began?

he constantly mentioned in open that i didn't deserve the votes, but they were all there, clear as day! at least he could have made a joke about it, but instead he went directly to insulting my integrity.

oh thank god, i thought he was one of the original judges too, then i saw only apheraz did it and i was like 'where'd vkael go i thought he was judging as well'

if the contest does get re-judged, who will be doing the judging?

i find apheraz's style is a little...

i'm fairly sure she starts by deciding whether she likes the race or not, based on what is 'cool' or something i don't really know.

she then proceeds to slap numbers on what she 'feels' is right for each section.

THEN she comes up with reasonings behind the numbers.

to polish it off, she makes it as insulting as possible wherever seems suitable.

considering he's always been insulting and you do nothing about it at all

not really an insult when it's so true to the nature of the person's character

anyway, i will strive to make the techtree contest more and more popular, so we can have a lot more final submissions ^^

unfortunately, my primary reaction to jokemaster in the thread ended up being me trying to get him to stop, rather than just stopping myself :V

at least it's somewhat resolved for now ^^

perhaps a private discussion in the hive's chat system could set some things straight which may have been misinterpreted in accordance with shoddy intel? :3

incidentally, i have gotten us up to about 27 voters in a couple of days, and am making moves to try and get the contest promoted further ^^
