  • Nice work on the 2 pieces - just curious, can you change the guitar model in your VSI? Right now the sound reminds me of a Stratocaster and I normally prefer something more similar to the Les Paul (normally these get a bit better low end) - if not that's fine, it sounds pretty good as it is.

K, something new for you to work on, aside from a cheesy name this one has some special directions:

-I hope you can see the comments I wrote in in different places on this one, I know I can see them when I open an MIDI with my program.
-The whole song should swell and recede, sort of like the ocean - overall the feeling should be a build up though so it should start soft and end full and epic
-On the 8th note triplets Nara said to make the lowest of the 3 notes slightly less intense then the other 3 - by the end of the song though they should be rigerious and thus all be similar velocity
-The timpani and orchestra towards the end of the song should all fade in when they come in, starting very low in volume
-The last triplet on the piano for the bass and treble parts should be incredibly intense but shouldn't be left to ring like the others
Awesome, I should have a new piece for you pretty shortly - just need to finish it up, I may go back and write a longer version of this song with more instruments but to give you something atm and for diversity I'll give you the more "solo"-ish version first.
East coast US (judging by your realm you live there too, just looked) - With so many Europeans on the site you can never really tell
Cool, just good to know that it's getting done

I've been working on one of the pieces Nara gave me - he just gave me a youtube vid of him playing it so I've been translating it to MIDI - it was simple enough so it's not that hard - it was just a melody so I added more parts and that sort of thing
hey, do you have a Steel Drum sound? (just curious, working on a song that I used a steel drum in for MIDI but it turns out I don't have a Steel drum sound in my vsi's)

Had fun making this one, as you can probably tell this is meant to be a Demon theme and thus is supposed to sound menacing and heavy all the way, so I made use of plenty of dissonance and threw in Guitar and bells to give it the most foreboding sound possible.

    Note:
The low B's, C's and D's in the third and first guitar part should be palm muted during the chorus (the part where those notes are sixteenth and thirtysecond notes) if that's possible with your virtual instrument. If not, just make them quieter then the rest of the notes.
Yeah, I've pretty much been writing more specific themes lately anyway.
Idk, I'll have to experiment with some rock orchestra things.
lol, not sure if TWIF would appreciate the addition of an Electric guitar to the sound-sphere but I'm sure I can squeeze it in somewhere (electric guitar sounds great when it's sort of soloing in the background to some orchestral stuff going on, also Trans-Siberian Orchestra has done some great stuff with guitar).
Thanks, guess the viola/violin thing was poor planning on my part (I didn't have a Viola patch anyways so I was SOOL either way with my instruments). Thanks, it sounds great as always.

I'll probably finish up the song tomorrow If I'm satisfied with how I mix it the first go around

Was working on putting Skytop Temple into VSI when I learned my violin VSI sucks for solo parts (it always does this swell thing so the short notes end up much quieter then the held out ones, which sounds pretty bad aside from being a bit difficult to hear). Could you render this with your violin VSI for me?

(I really need to get some better plugins, the ones I've been using came with the audio software and as you see, not all of them are really all that good)
Awesome - I've been taking a lot of inspiration from the Metriod Prime series sound track, which had a bit of chorus in it (hmm I never really thought about limitations before, but that makes things a bit better now (also makes sense why you were hesitant to use choruses in the harp piece).

Really I've had a lot more drive to write music for TWIF's project lately then I had all summer long so I'm hoping to be able to get you some new work soon (and hopefully some work that's more creative/complex then what I've given you before).

    -
What happened to your last iLok key?
    Nvm, fixed the link myself

Both versions sound pretty good - I guess I'll leave it up to the guys on worldcraft which version they'd like to use.
Thanks - more compositions should be coming soon
You mind if I convert it to mp3 to make it easier for the other guys to listen to it?
Sounds great I see you made the timpani a bit less overbearing.
Overall this is amazing work, I guess you can adjust the rest as you see fit and we can call it final.
Wow that sounds great, MUCH better then my instruments hehe

Well that cymbal roll in the beginning doesn't sound so good now at those high speeds, maybe reducing the frequency to sixteenth notes will make it sound a bit better.

Also if there's any way you can make the timpani a little more defined so it's a bit easier to hear it among the other instruments (the higher octave sounds fine, though the lower octave seems to lose it's precision in sound).

Aside from that it sounds great.
You were the one who agreed to help with the music by mastering compositions right?

Well I know I pretty much haven't done a damn thing all summer in light of laziness, but I feel I need to make up for lost time by working faster so after finally getting myself to write something here's the MIDI of a quick composition I had done today. I see you haven't been on worldcraft for a while so I figured this would be the quickest way to reach you (aside from email).

Well, everything I mentioned before, so that means the Naga 1 and 2, the Skeleton, and possibly the shark dude.
Do you have a female voice actor in your team that is capable to make a decent set of recordings similar to that of the Naga Siren? Not necessarily similar to the warcraft naga siren, just a female naga, snakeish voice.
Ah, I forgot to tell you. It worked quite well. Marvelous work. :)

P.S. Did you watch both parts of the Lone Panther?
