Shot in the dark here, but shouldn't a script be able to determine things like this by pattern matching for specific strings in the *.mdl file? Seems like it should be possible to automate the process to the point where stuff like that could be clearly determined before you have to even look at...
Not sure why at this point. You've got quality separation already with the tiered approval status. "Broken and faulty." -> Restricted, "Works as intended." -> Approved, "Above average." -> High Quality, "Top shit ramen!" -> Director's Cut. Doesn't seem like that'd be a terrible system to follow...
