@Reaver It's of course a matter of taste, but I like when world is consistent at every point. So when you are creating a character that character stays the same person through entire journey.
Blizzard simply doesn't care about what some guys, that were working in their company, did 10-20 years ago. That's why they are making so much strange changes... for example: Dentarg originaly had two heads in War2/Warcraft: Adventures but years later he has only one head.
Deathwing looks completly different back in War2 and Cataclysm. Same with his voice.
Korgath Bladefist became Kargath because someone typo his name after War2 His skins suddenly became gray and he get's 20-30 years younger than his first appearance. Etc.
@Reaver Same here, I also prefer more original Deathwing voice and design. After Cataclysm his jaw looks a little silly, it is so much pushed forward
He reminds me Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys
But like you said, his "new" voice is different, but still cool.
About Korgath, Dentarg and probably more - I think they don't care about consistent since WoW came out. They are completly focus on making money, not building a sensible world. Just look how many times they are making timetravels and alternative worlds with another Legion invansion, with another "bad Horde" and now in Shadowlands even Arthas and Uther will be reused once more.
I used to be a huge Blizzard and Warcraft fan, but now it's a mess
Maybe Godzilla was an inspiration but I would prefer 90% WoW Cataclysm design (his body and wings looks awesome) but different head. No huge metal jaw, but like in original War2 portrait: metal plates on top of his head and naked jaw
@VendarRimmer yeah, only the WoW look, like in the image you posted, doesn't really make sense. It looks as if the dragon is burning and parts of its scales or muscles are exposed.
@deepstrasz In lore Deathwing's body is constantly torn apart from inside, because it cannot hold so much power that he got from Ancient Gods. To keep own body in one piece he used metal plates. That's the reason why he looks like that
