I get random defeat messages probably because at some point I tested with cheats to go through the techtree faster. Other than that, it's a fine survival map with random generated terrain which spices up the replayability even more along with the tier...

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

This is an amazing and addictive map, my only problem is it's not saving my data, I have reached warrior status I believe, and it's still uploads as squire.

I have beat sunken and Trangia map, but it hasn't unlocked the ones below.

Any help is appreciated I may be missing something.

Thanks :)
Any help is appreciated I may be missing something.
It can be multiple reasons. First of all you must play online with at least another player. Single Player won't save Achievements.
Then the most recent reforged patch has introduced a bug where you must restart the game after each round of zombie defense to avoid localfiles caching. I added a hint about that when you beat a biome.
If you did that, played online and it's still not saving you can try deleting your profile in ~/Documents/Warcraft III/CustomMapData/zombie_defense

Thank you for the reply/help!
I have not been restarting the game after I win/lose but I will give that a shot. I do have the latest reforged patch and I am playing online with others, so I will try the restarting the game after a win and go from there! Much appreciated 🙏

So, I beat tangia again, restarted and sadly didn't unlock map below or save my progress. I will do the next step and delete the file and re download it to custom maps in my folder. Thanks for all the help and hope this works, jungle is the map I really want to get into. 😀

This is a ok map but, here's the problem i see that ranks don't mean shit cause you don't get extra gold or wood the higher your rank or start with more workers or anything so to me that is the main problem get that fix and i think this map is great

It's not a problem that the map is challenging, in fact, that's precisely how it's intended to be. Improving your skills through experience is the only way to master the map, rather than relying on gaining artificial advantages from having a higher rank through senseless time investment. The primary purpose of rank is to determine whether or not players have knowledge of the map and to provide a sense of progression. If your perception is that the map should become easier over time just by playing worse and relying on rank benefits, then you've missed the point entirely.

The zombies took everything from humanity. Humanity will fight back regardless. We will prevail.

Thousands of an endless swarm of zombies attack the walls in every direction. With luck, they're dumb enough to only attack man-made structures. It's a double-edged sword, though. Everything we build from scratch may come tumbling down if a zombie finds it, and we have hell to pay if we accidently break through our tree walls. I can only pray we last the zombies out. With each day, our wheat fields get larger. Our families grow, and our humble shacks become skyscrapers once more. Though, I wonder, what started all of this, and why do I feel as if something monstrous, from Hell itself, is about to take everything from me again?

. . .

The grasslands below the walls of our defenses awake to the clawing of zombies outside.
The builders build, the farmers farm, to the clawing of the zombies outside.
To the large defended gates for the scouts, to the small walls near the trees...
Some say that the apocalypse isn't over,
That a great calamity still awaits,
To the clawing of the evil outside.

The map, Zombie Defense, or ZD, is an incredible project that features everything you'd want from a custom build-based defense game. Unlike other base defense games, such as Monster Defense, which draws great inspiration from ZD, Island Defense, or others, Frotty's Zombie Defense is completely roguelike. Boasting even more then that, ZD shows great qualities that I will go into lengths below.

This custom map boasts three main things that you would want to see in a WC3 map, and is currently - and has been - a map I've been replaying over and over again. The community behind this map, located in the discord linked in the main thread, is also at a healthy size and is quite active. If anything, I would say that ZD is one of the few maps keeping the custom maps alive, alongside Helms Deep, Survival Chaos, 300, MD, Tower Survivors, and a few others. It has become a staple classic for the ages to come.

Players, Roles, & Feats
In ZD, everyone starts off the same; with one horse, containing a peasant, a gatherer, and a free starting tent. There is no bias, and the ranking gives no bonuses, which is a plus to the equal playing field for everyone in the map. It only adds to the glory of actually winning in ZD, if you can manage that.
ZD has two main ways to play, as well as several other customizable options at the game start. The first is to play solo, with a solo base and without any friends to help you along the way. While quite manageable, it feels good to actually succeed alone and know that you are skilled enough to win.
The true fun is in the second way to play, which is with other zombie survivors! ZD is also unique in which it promotes team bases in general. From giant bases thanks to roguelike generation to marketplace transaction, multiplayer games are the bread and butter of ZD.

The Leader / Carry
Role:
As of in all Zombie Movies, there has to always be a leader. Of course, if you like chaos, then you don't need a leader! If you want a high chance of winning, however, a leader is that who you primarily trade with, and, in return, walls for you and rises up the tech tree to hopefully save everyone else.

The Sword / Defender
Role:

Every leader needs a faithful ally. As their sword and shield, ensure that they can actually make it past the night and into the next day, to hopefully find something that can help everyone in the future. You are the early and mid-game, responsible for creating units, towers, and risking your life that the walls do not fall, no matter what!

A Zombie Survivor / Anything!
You are not just a cog in the system; you are another fellow human being! You must do whatever it takes to survive this world. If that means being selfish and ensuring your "team" takes the blunt of it, that is a way to do things. However, if you are instead a person that will take the blow, others may remember your actions in the future, and will count on you as a reliable teammate and a good friend.

Perks
Currently, there are over 9 unique perks, each with its own playstyle and benefit to either the team or to the player. Perks varies from three classes, being Offensive, Defensive, and Economy. Every perk is viable in its own way, both solo and in a team, and it is your job to find your favorite combo!

Strategies, Tactics, and Hard / Hell
The map has several dozen different strategies and tactics, each depending on their own difficulty. The map is intended to played on normal mode, and is meant to be incredibly hard to win. Needless to say, but Hard and Hell modes are a different story itself!
Generally, the main strategy in ZD is generally easy to understand but hard to execute. Starting from a tent, create a settlement, build walls, and kill any zombies attacking you. You must find a certain balance between your economy, your defenses, and teching up to win. Once you reach T3, create a sprawling metropolis. Where you once was just a tent with a wheat field, your ambitions has evolved into a city with modern day guns to defeat the zombies and whatever is behind the apocalypse.
Nearly everything changes, however, when the difficulty is meant to kill you. In harder maps, or Hard / Hell in general, strategy must be planned out, and luck should be on your side. Your timings must be impeccable, lest you fall short of either resources or defenses, and fall prey to the hordes if zombies outside.

Save / Load, Achievement Runs / Challenges, & Ranks
The replayability of this map is amazing, especially so with the roguelike nature of a new map every game, with more then 10 different biomes to choose from! Biome wins, lifetime zombie kills, and player ranks are all automatically saved to a profile when you first start playing ZD. Winning Hard or Hell mode is a testament to your skills and awards you not only on your profile but on the ZD community Discord as well.

Lastly, the community discord has several channels where in depth strategy guides, ideas, map sneak peeks, and discord-only challenges can be found. As noted earlier, surviving alone takes skill, yes, but what's the point of just surviving alone? You'll need to save all of humanity in the end, and you can't do that unless you have that one other person to save.
