Yogg-Defense

Yogg-Defense is a pretty simple map similiar to hero line wars.
You "build" your own hero and you receive a pet randomly from a pool of 20 pets.
You may learn new abilities and unlearn the last learned ability if you didnt like it.
You will learn a ultimate on level 6 that can't be unlearned.
There are some Items to support your hero further.
You send mercs to the opponents team to increase your income and eventually defeat them by killing their Yogg.

This was done for a Map-Jam on my twitch channel within 2 hours and after that i refined it a little (3 more hours) to make it "acceptable" to play. - after that the update history on hive is all that i've done.

Hope u'll still like it for the "mini-game" its supposed to be.

Update 1.01:
Added 2nd Shop
Moved Shops forward
Added 11 "New" Items

Update 1.02:
Added item to level up and learn new skills
Added Item to upgrade merc's

Update 1.03:
Added a few more not-standart items
Added 2 new mercs as "Healers" (thx too deepstrasz for the idea)
Hiding "All Attributes" when learned to make space for a 5th ability (thx too deepstrasz for the idea)
Gold will be refunded after using "Book of Skill" while having 5 basic abilities on lvl 3
Fixed a few langauge issues with the original language of my WE that i dint consider changing before
Added 3 new Spells

Update 1.04:
Hero attributes are randomized now and added special effects giving feedback on the quality of the attributes
Added 4 diffrent gamemodes + the option to change the amount of the start gold
Added 2 new mercs with a more offensive role than the previously added "healers" (thx again too deepstrasz for the idea of adding more mercs)
Moved all mercs to a new building so they are easier to find
Added small splash damage to the tentacles
Added 6 new Spells

Update 1.05:
Changed Hero Models - just higher quality models wiht more details than the standart wc3 ones
Added 20 pets that follow the same rarity system as the heroes - each pet has diffrent abilities
Added Item to delete last learened ability if you dont like it
Changed a few older items and mercs (balance changes in goldcost and stats)
Changed the way some items worked - permant power items for heroes and creeps dont require empty Itemslots and can also be bought by the players pet
Fixed a few issues with a spell based on "Phoenix fire"
Made numbers of mercs that spawn based on player numbers for better balancing
Adjusted the food/upkeep display to display players income

You should avoid things like Vampiric Aura on ranged heroes because they won't give them any bonuses only to melee allied heroes if any. The mirror image item, what does the mirage clone actually do? Detail the description a bit. Burning Cleaver, I...

  1. The author is unknown (unbekannt). Please change it to the proper one.
  2. Streitmacht? Try keeping it English unless you're referring to names.
  3. Regular items and Warcraft III spells.
  4. Book of Skill is present in all shops although it doesn't have a big cooldown, basically 0.
  5. Using such a book after you get full level (3) for all 4 spells, should reappear so you don't lose 15 gold.
  6. You can hide the attribute bonus spell and leave a space for one more spell.
  7. Would be nice to remove a spell if you don't like it.
  8. Strategical unit types. Archers, melee, cavalry, spell casters, magic/physical immune etc.
  9. Maybe some temporary towers (like summoned from an item or something). Just be creative.
Right now, it's pretty simple. You should take more inspiration form the maps of the genre here on the site or anywhere you can find them.
You could make things more interesting, item sets/recipes, upgrades, enhancements, something. Custom spells like: Spells | HIVE or combos between them.

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

@deepstrasz thanks for your review, i took some of your ideas but some just don't fit my vision of what i wanted the map to be (like the towers, item sets or removing spells) hope you like it a bit more now ^^

@Battleborn it was iXeddin who gave the yogg model to me, you might ask him for permission to use it if you want to :D

Sure but it's still too simple. Add some game modes, vary the gameplay a little more.

Also:
Please use the green Edit button at the bottom of your posts and add text there instead of writing one post after another of yours unless it's an important update.

Spieler should be player.

Game modes could be more interesting. Random is OK, the gold thing is not that interesting.

Maybe, something to be able to buff the creature players protect?
Give players roles, not everyone has to buff their hero with the same/similar stuff. Some could work on defense, others on attack. It just feels like there's a bunch of people doing the same thing and based on the chance of the abilities they get.
Another idea would be for other temporary routes toward the Yoggs.

  3. Burning Cleaver, I suppose it has Cleaving Attack not Orb of Fire type splash damage? You should mention that.
  4. Frost Armour hasn't got the autocast option anymore.
