Terrain Palette

Created by x-omg-x

Authors Note:
I have been working on a terrain palette for a few days, and here is the result. This terrain palette is very useful for mapmakers using many different types of terrain. The palette contains 12 different textures. All of the textures is freehanded by me and does not contain any CnP. I think the palette is decent enought for approval, but if you have any advices to make improve it just post a comment. If you use atleast one of these textures you have to credit the person that made them, and thats me. Thanks to 67chrome for the idea. Do not distribute this to any other sites and do not edit the palette without my permission. Now enjoy my work and good luck mapping!

Dont know how to import?

Import the .blp file to your map and change the path to:
TerrainArt\Icecrown\Ice_RuneBricks.blp
After changing the path, you will have to restart your WE.
Now, press 'Advanced' and find the 'Modify Tileset'.
Add 'Runed Bricks' to your palette.
Now you are ready to terrain, but i would suggest you to read the following.

Dont know how to use it right?

Open your terrain palette, and select 'Runed Bricks'.
In the left side of the screen you see a box with the selected terrain shown.
Uncheck the 'Place random tile variation'.
Now you can scroll between the 12 different textures and place them on the ground.
You may notice that the textures sometimes will leave some black spaces around when mixing with blizzard's tiles, and it can sometimes be fixed by placing the tiles again in a different order.

67chrome: There seems to be a lack in variety in the tiles, and considering the purpose of doing this as much variety should be implemented in this skin as possible. The grass appears in a gray and brown form, there are two blue and white tiles and a total of six totally black tiles. So I'm requiring you make at least sixteen different tiles for me to approve this, and considering the first half of the skin contains two tile variants I'd really recommend doing seventeen, so as there is only one black tile.
I really like the brick tile, see if you can make more with the level of detail of that one. Also, the blue checkered tiles don't seem to be terribly useful, I can't imagine them fitting in very well in many maps, they look more like a modern day kitchen tile than anything else. Try toning down the saturation of your colors to 50% to offer a more grim medieval feel.
Anyways, this looks like a decent start for a skin, you just have to finish it XD

67chrome: You should really change one of the blue/white tiles to something else, I'm sure you can come up with 1 more tile variation...
You should try getting rid of the hairy/scratchy effect present on all the tiles as well, use a blur tool with a really small brush size to smooth out some of that texture, and try sharpening the edges of things like the bricks.

the thing with the black boxes can be fixed like that: use the same variation number of the blizzard tile as of the tile of this texture (note that some blizz textures have only 2 variations then you can only use them with the first 2 variations of this)

btw this a idea stael of chrome67's terrain and the bluewhite tile looks odd and you used it 2 times

you know that when you have choosen the terrain editor your tile has many variations (on the left side you can change them) like grass with stones normal grass grass with some dirt etc : so you take the same variation number of the tileset as the one this custom tileset has and you just paste the other blizz tile with the variation as 1 x1 on the border of the custom tileset you placed -> the black things become a mix of the blizz and he custom tileset-> cool effects like gras that grows over stone etc

Its a palette not a singular terrain.

Two questions:
1-How are we supposed to use the Runed Bricks if we are not using an Icecrown map?The specified texture is on Red so it cant either be added, replaced or removed...
2-Is it possible to use more than 13 in Total Texture Space Used?Because this limits greatly our Terraining palette choice?I noticed in the Warchasers map made by Blizzard we can use up to 12 different ground textures since we can't get that much in another map.
As i saw in the screenshots(since i didn't use them yet in the Editor) i found some great and usefull textures you made. But for the moment i can't rate.

1 - In the section "Cliff tiles" in the replace terrain thingy, you can find the runed bricks.
2 - Its possible, but then you'll have to download a new World Editor. Download WE ultimate or JNPG. They makes you able to do so.
