Wise Engine v1

Wice-engine DEMO! 2D 8-BIT GAME RENDERING.
(Updated to version Wice1)

Update list:
-wice0 (first release)
-wice1 (paint has colors now);(object 3d creation module added);(moving object module added);(changed base layout to have multiple variations instead of just one)


How to use???​

After the map has loaded use command: "-run 8bit" to start the emulation of 8 bit game. when the loading is finished use arrow keys to move the snake (or what ever it is).

Paint​

Run with "-run draw" then draw by selecting blocks with mouse. Set any color by setting R,G,B values (1-100) by typing "R020G050B100" for example, or just R20.

Only works with single player custom games (not lan or b.net). Map is protected do not unprotect!

Requirements:
Atleast warcraft3 the frozen throne version 1.26 and up..
intel celeron m (single core) and windows xp sp2.
512mb memory
30kb+ of free space =)))))

Improper map preview image. What does -run ct do except from spam a Necropolis and workers? Ran 8bit, waited then draw and units were created with health bars and attacked other units and the blocks moved. Restarted, then clicking on the blocks...

When I typed "-run 8bit" all I see is a grid of what appear to be wall corner models which are all the same colour. It also took a fair time to generate. Generating such a grid can be done faster with cone written in a few minutes max, hardly worthy of calling a game engine.

I was using Warcraft III 1.31.1 which is the latest version as of posting. Possibly all the complex stuff the game engine does is not compatible with 1.31.1?

There doesn't seem to be any food for the snake, and it can pass through itself.

This seems more like a system or a base for making maps using this engine, than a complete map.
May be it belongs in "map development", or if you are willing to let people use your engine, post the unprotected version as a spell/system.

Edit: pressing Escape stops with a delay during which you may press Escape again. Instead of resetting the game, it simply ends it with a victory.

Pressing esc work as it is intended to, it first reset the engine and then quits the game because often when you stop the process (during the lag) the restart is "impossible" because some variable data for example is stopped calculating ect.

You are right, I post it here because I wanted to show my current work for map developers they may maybe copy the idea of the map but not copy the triggers that i am using (or technic). I dont like that because why would the get my work for free?

Also yeah if I will make a fully functioning game using this (engine), then I would also like to get some profit out of it (maybe 5$ from each game with maybe 1-3h gameplay).

Just a small update to see you what I am up to, and if there comes up something really cool u would like to see with that engine I am listening and taking notes.

Alright, figured it out. I had to start pressing the keys once the generation was complete the first time.

It's rather simple, slow and the snake doesn't even die if it hits itself.
There are way better snake related maps.

Substandard.

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

Thanks for taking time to look at into my map. I released this partly because I wanted ur to see a bit behind the scenes what does my engine too, if i would take off all the output info ect, then the finished game would totally be unable for most people to understand how it works.

-run ct is a test for engine with purpose to see that objects can be created at any part of the map and not just in the pre setted coordinates. you just need to build any building and it gives coordinates to wise engine to start object creation.

Exactly it is.. that makes wice engine so brilliant, it is not finished but it is a creative source for future map makers if they run out of ideas. If i would make it any further without listening you or anyone it would propably limit the possibilities of the development in the future. it can even create 3d enviroments but it need more testing than just this base 2d rendering test.
