Wc3 RPG: Shadows of the Scourge

The newest Installment of the Wc3 RPG series!

Shadows of the Scourge is a much shorter Wc3 RPG than the previous installments, and features bosses that are much more difficult than the bosses in the other maps too!

--------------------------------------

Features!

- All players start at the maximum level rather than building up to the max over time, the mobs and bosses are also all tuned for this change.

- 6 Bosses ranging in difficulty from "Tank n' Spank" to "I think we may need vent for this!"

- The ability to vote on which faction the players will play with!

- A brand new difficulty system! The dungeons inhabitants will have damage bonuses and life increases or decreases depending on the number of players in the game! (Difficulty does not lower passed 5 players, and is possible to complete at any difficulty.)

The second boss is an air unit, and the half ot the team cannot damage him. Annoying thing..

The Frost Wyrm is probably not a boss, since he doesn't drop anything.

Anyways, the first 2 bosses are easy, I haven't tried the third one, (because of pub game leavers,) but they should definately be made a little harder.

Also, I liked the heroes better in your earlier maps :p

Ya.... it seems everyone liked the earlier Wc3RPG's better, even though this one the bosses are so much more challenging and require much more stratedgy. Though that might be the reason this one is so unpopular, I sometimes forget that most of the BNet population has A.D.D. and can't handle anything to challenging lol :p

The previous ones were more basic, therefore people seemed to enjoy them more lol :p

I may at some point go back and revamp Nefarian's Revenge since that one as of so far has been so much more popular than the rest. But at this point in time Wc3RPG has been put on hold since it hasn't seen as much popular from what I've seen in posts and in the games I've hosted.

Bear with me on this one, there's critique :p

the bosses are so much more challenging and require much more strategy.
I have done all the bosses except last one in Nefarian's Revenge, and I have done the 2 first bosses in Icewing Cavern, and the 2 first in Shadows of the Scourge, and sorry, but most of them are tank and spank.

I have in fact done all the bosses in Nefarian's Revenge except the 2 last ones, with only 2 persons. This included having to do some tricks on some of the bosses, but overall it was pretty much just hitting the boss until it died, and healing was not a problem. If you can do that in 2-man, you can do it in 5-man. You need to figure out ways to make the player have to do something out of the ordinary, like for example on the first boss in Shadows of the Scourge, you have to kill the boxes instead of the boss.

Sadly, yes :p

I'd love to have more boss maps, in fact, I'm working on two myself, but I am a beginner at mapmaking and I doubt they'll be great, even if I've managed to get someone who is very good at making bossfights to join one of the projects.

You're one of the few people who make boss maps that are decent though, even though there's some rough edges, your bosses have good potential, what I think is lacking is making them need human interaction, and maybe some tuning on abilities, so that they're not over- or underpowered.

One thing I ask though, if you do decide to continue Wc3 RPG, and decide to go back to the old heroes, please implement the tanking system you implemented for warriors (I haven't tested tanking with any other class) in this one, it really helped to not rely on a 10 second cooldown AoE taunt :p

*Cough* Teramus was totally ony+sarth :p *cough*

Just playin lol

...

AT LEAST I GOT HOGGER WOOTZ, and you really think the 1st boss of SotS can be tank n spank? Jesus christ I'd like to see you pull that off, only way I could think of doing that would be 5 man, 4 healers 1 tank, tank doing the majority of the dps, maybe substituting one healer for a dps. The charge stones would totally fuck you over still though without any dps.

To quote myself

I was saying he isn't.
:p

Ah lol, well anyway, Wc3RPG is pretty much discontinued, it never really hit off, inspired a few mapmakers to make similar maps, such as Ani there :p

But I consider it a stepping stone for me, over time it really helped me improve on my mapmaking skills, I still got a long way to go and it doesn't seem I can catch up to alot of the other people on the hive, or on wc3campaigns, but hey SC2 will HOPEFULLY be out soon, and I can get right onto mapping with that ^^
