Information
Wasteland RPG is a map that has a lot of systems and features, I will try to explain them all here.

Respawn System
While the player respawns at a building he places called a Hut, the enemy Tribes and beasts of the land respawn after a period of time. Resouces respawn at a random location on the map.

Loot System
With the exception of night raiders, all mobs on the map have a chance to drop you something. Be it gold, gear, consumables or materials for crafting.

Equipment System
The 3 last slots of your heros inventory is used for equipment, and your hero can only carry one type of weapon and armor. Pick up items with your backpack unit if you cannot hold more of them.

Animation System
Your attack animation will change according to what kind of weapon you are currently using. This will also control what kind of "weapon slam" ability you have and how that looks. There's even an animation for picking up an item.

Camera System
The game starts out in "shoulder view". However by pressing the UP key you can change this to "top down view", pressing the Down key brings you back into "shoulder view". This is great while building your base, or if you'd just rather have a top down view.

Taming a Beast
To tame a beast, it has to be at the level of your hero or below (You can tame from level 4). It has to have 50% or less of its health remaining. Your hero then needs to hold a raw meat on his person (not on your backpack unit) and use a "Taming Rod".
The beast will tame up and become yours, and now it will roll for random abilities. All beasts start with the abilities "Feed" and "Combat Statistics", per default they don't even have inventory slots.
They then roll for 1 passive ability, 1 aggressive and how many inventory slots your pet should have. (Diverse tames, not 2 should be alike)

Only 1 pet can be owned at the time, kill it to try taming something new if you don't want the old one.
If your old pet is a good roll in terms of abilities and you wanna save it - The "Cage" building can hold up to 1 beast for you.

Abilities
Use your skill points freely between the 3 attribute bonuses available, this is not how you get spells. You must visit your class trainer in the Tauren Village and buy the spells, you can buy better ranks when you get higher level.

Night Raids
When you reach level 6, the first local tribe will take notice of you. This means that every night at 22:00 they will send out a small raid to try and destroy you and your base.
When you reach higher level they will be too afraid to keep going, and shortly after another tribe will try and take over.

Brewing
Throughout the world you can find herbs from bushes and you can buy empty vials in town. Just put 1 herb and 1 Vial in the "Hexing Station" and it will pop out a potion for you.

Base Building
You need to buy a Workbench in the Tauren village, with that you can craft every building you need to make a safe base to fend off the raiders.

Good luck!

Author and map tags are missing.

1. Icons need DISBTNs else they look like green square on pause/F10 (e.g: Clarity Potion, Cooked Meat, Taming Rod, Large Raw Meat). You can learn about how to add some:
Button Manager v1.8.2
BLP Lab v0.5.0
Complete Icon Tutorial - All About Icons
How to Make an Icon
2. Why disable selection?
3. Items have fixed positions.
4. You have to find proper icons for items. Hand Axe and Spiked Club both have the same icon, a Human upgrade that looks like a sword.
5. Feels weird to find weapons on animals, and gold. Might be more close to reality to drop things which could sell: animal parts, I don' know.
6. The terrain isn't quite nice, especially in the northern part where it's mostly one tile emptiness.
7. Ancestral Healing has a passive icon. You can turned it into active looking with the program I lined above.
8. Honestly it's not a survival map. It's a WoW imitation, an RPG.
9. Got a message about seek Mok'nathal for beast taming and a quest log flash but in it there was nothing.
10. Some herbs have the same icon. If you can't find varied ones at least change the icon colour for every herb.
11. Owls and Furbolgs are undead!?
12. Would be good to have information in the Quest Log about leveling up, ability buying and that they appear on the trainer depending on your level etc.
13. So, a Large Raw Meat and a Taming Rod on a level 11 Lion doesn't work when it's under 50% HP? I was level 8 by the way. OK, read the thread description. You need to have a higher level then the beast you want to tame. Of course, you need the proper type of meat too...
14. Saw the furbolgs come somewhere from the southwest but they didn't come to me neither to the tauren camp but wen to their base to the northeast.
15. Check pathing using P or clicking the option in the menu bar of View. There are places where you shouldn't be crossing like mountains where the hero goes through.
16. I got a crash when trying to use SHIFT+left click on my black raptor pet...

It's nice but needs some polish.

Awaiting Update.

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

Hey man, thank you for reviewing my map, I will try to go through your list:

Author and tags missing: Sorry, was a long day of editing yesterday so i forgot. Will be there in the next update.

1: I've always looked at the section of the rules for submission regarding disbtns in section 4:
"-Tool-tips should have descriptions and broken icons (DISBTNs) should be kept to a minimum."
The ammount of broken icons are very low at the moment, I don't think it's gamebreaking.
(while i might disagree with you on disbtns, the feedback is still appreciated)

2: Actually only drag-selection is disabled. This was done to prevent the bug where you crash if you target more than 1 unit. (didn't think about shift clicking, bringing the bug back..)

3: Yes, the "Equipment System" lightly touches the subject. I might need to elaborate.

4: Mate i have about 70+ imported models of gear. First i'm not gonna download an icon for each of them, second look back up at your point 1. If i did that, I would have to make 70+ disbtns.

5: That is how i prefer it, i'm sorry.

6: The map is designed to feel open and less clustered, we all made maps along the way where we look back and see how clustered it can get. I wen't for open hills and room to build.
(The northern parts is a desert, so kinda went for "sand for miles")

7: Same as point 1.

8: Discussed this with a friend too, I guess it's more of an rpg, tho i guess it would take more and real quests to classify. What the hell is this xD

9: Hadn't noticed the quest log blinking, not intended. It will be changed to a clean message and the minimap ping. (It's just meant to guide you to the beastmaster, i'll remove the quest relation)

10: No problem, I'll add that.
11: Yes :) they are undead. It's how the loot system brackets a range of differend level mobs. There is 4 loot groups. Did you encounter a problem due to them being undead?

12: Information is key, knowledge is power, all that stuff.. I'll add it.

13: I'll add the level requirement to the tooltip on the rod. and make an entry for it in quest log, like you suggested above.

14: What.. The Furbolgs went to the Quilboar base instead of after you?.. I have no idea why that would happen. I'll try to recreate that and see what's going on.. Did you have a hut build?
The way the hordes should be working is:
A seperate horde will be spawned for each of the players, assuming there's 2.
If the player has a Hut, the Horde will attack move towards that.
If the player does not have a Hut, the Horde will attack move towards your hero instead.

This one annoys me, as the hordes has been working fine in my playthroughs. I'll try my best to find this damn bug!

15: There's a hole in the pathing blockers? alright, let's try that P thing, actually never used it before.

16: This is what i mentioned in point 2.
I don't really know why the game does it but if you target more than 1 unit, like your hero and your pet at the same time, we somehow crash.
I've tried messing with giving the player more max food, but the problem is not food value.
Initially i thought i'd just disable drag selection so you couldn't target them both. I had forgotten completely about the shift-click method.
Searching for answer, it seemed that it is not possible to disable that.

Why would targetting more than 1 unit crash the game?

Thank you for the review :) Hopefully i can fix most of that.

The ammount of broken icons are very low at the moment, I don't think it's gamebreaking.
There's nothing to disagree about. I did not mention it as rule breaking. I usually colour what needs change before approval. I pointed them out in case you've forgot about them so you'd polish your map...
Did you encounter a problem due to them being undead?
No, but it's weird. Why not edit that name in the game constants or interface or how it's named somewhere in the menu bar->window (if I remember correctly).
What.. The Furbolgs went to the Quilboar base instead of after you?
No, they went to their base (or back to their base?) I didn't see them coming to me because they don't show on the minimap. I guess, you're saying they went from their base towards my position but didn't find me there and went back to their base?
Did you have a hut build?
No :D I like it better solo through nature.
I don't really know why the game does it but if you target more than 1 unit, like your hero and your pet at the same time, we somehow crash.
This has to be made clear to players.
Why would targetting more than 1 unit crash the game?
No idea. Open up a thread here (World Editor Help Zone) and ask about it. It might be necessary to upload a open source version so people can check the triggers.

Anyways, don't get offended by my remarks. All I'm doing is trying to get you to perfect your work.

Map just updated.
Icons, bug fixes, information and game balance adjusted, see changelog.

@Unkno0wn_Merchant
You can only have 1 beast with you in the world at the time, however with the Cage you can store 1 beast and then go out and tame another one. So technically you can tame 2 beasts per player :)
I realize this information wasn't given, so i added it to the description of taming here and in the quest log ingame.

Hey there.
At first glance I thought that your map was about sandbox-survival, but after I got to actually play it, I realized that it's more of an RPG where you can place buildings.
Anyway, it has some decent potential. Good luck with it :)

I also found a couple of bugs while playing your map:

1. Your Item Bag can receive direct orders and RUN AWAY FROM YOUR HERO. It can also pick up and use items, place buildings, and all of it while your hero is not even around.

2. Brewing system is malfunctioning. In order to brew potions, you have to put your vials AFTER your herbs. If you do otherwise, no potion will be brewed.
Not only that, if you put multiple herbs into a single hexing station, and then put just 1 empty vial in the end, you will have several different potions brewed using just one vial.

3.
This one seems like a simple mistake or misconcept. Why build mailbox when you can sell your items using a workbench?

4. I took a peek into your map's triggers, and I don't think that your Mob respawn system works at all. The problem is that event-responses (triggering unit) don't actually work after wait actions.

5. This one is just a weird thing.
So I bought a spiked club (which still looks like a sword btw), then some animal dropped me a bone knife and I decided to pick it up.
My hero dropped the club on the ground and picked the knife instead. There would be nothing weird about it, if only they used the same item slots (I suppose the knife is off-hand while the club is main hand, why do they conflict with each other though?)
That's not all. After I saw that the knife had worse stats I decided to take the club back, and you know what? My hero kept both. He didn't drop anything this time.
The last thing about it is that the club, even though it may look like a blunt/crushing weapon, doesn't give you that 'Slam' ability... BUT THE KNIFE DOES.

Update: I've just managed to equip a club, knife, and a shield, and wear all at the same time. It definitely seems wrong now.

That's all for now. I still need to play the map a little bit more in order to provide any feedback about the whole gameplay.

Hey xISLx thanks a lot for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated!
A few answers for your points:

1: The backpack is ordered to follow your hero every 5 seconds of gametime, so it should always return to the hero. You need it to pick up gear pieces, and for building your base, having the backpack being able to place buildings is nice.

2: When did you download my map? I have realeased a new version each day for the last 3 days, the one today should have fixed alchemy.

3: Lol you're right xD I never thought of that. Thanks :)

4: Hmm i might have to look it over, but it does seem to work for a long time i think. I have seen a lot of stuff respawn, but also some missing respawns, so yeah, might need polishing.

5: Todays update clarifies better if it's a offhand or a main hand item and better resembeling item icons have been added. However equipping stuff is a bit wonky and he does seem to want a offhand before a main hand.
Thank you for pointing out that main hand slam is missing, until it's resolved i will add it to the 'Known bugs' section.

I like this map and will try and bug fix and polish it as much as possible.

Again thank you for the feedback it's very useful to me :)
The updated version has a information system and a lot more in the quest tap.
If you enjoyed the concept of the map try looking at the changelog as the map has been polished and bug fixed a lot during the last 3 days. You might want a newer version :)
Thank you and +rep

Interesting and enjoyable, as well as challenging. Only problem I found so far, is quite often when I pick something up, my character drops a random piece of equipment. Even with 2 free slots available. Makes it a little tough in the heat of battle when you pick up a scroll and he drops his weapon or something..

EDIT : Did come across a more serious problem now. I can tame a Starving Wolf, but the moment I select him, the game CTD. Other tames I have no problem with so far.

Pretty cool, but the shoulder camera is pretty annoying due to its delay.
Also there is no obvious objectives except "level up" (at least level 1-6) except for taming a beast.

Speaking of taming, it seems that you cannot tame a creature higher level than you, but it is not mentioned anywhere.
I selected troll warrior and saw the shaman skill seller and purchased an ability and got nothing. I that's how I learned that you can only buy skills related to your "profession". It is not mentioned anywhere. When buying abilities, there is basically no information about them.
Combat are slow-paced and fairly low-skilled.

Other possible improvements include:
  • Brewing:
    • More information on how what potions are brewed when combining with herbs
    • Why does the slot matter?
    • Herbs say herbs goes first, vails say vails goes first. Vails are lying.
  • Most random drops are fairly low impact (barely matter) and should probably be sold.
  • Nothing stacks, causing the issue with most drops being low-impact.
  • Tame-rod should probably say "cannot tame higher level than yourself" (it seemed that way, unsure if true)
  • During Hero select: Your only information is the model of the unit... That's it. So you don't really know what you're getting (first time playing).
Good things:
  • Bag with extra inventory slots
  • Can build, collect, level up, tame, buy skills...

Over all, pretty interesting, but fairly rough edges in its current state
