Welcome dear player. Welcome to the "Visions of Stratholm". Similar to "Forsaken Island" that won the mini map contest #9
this map is a klick-and-point-riddle-escape RPG with zelda-ish elements filled with exploration, riddles, secrets and mysteries.
As a soldier recruit called Gareth you will have to work your way up to the ranks of a well needed hero as seen through the
eyes of Medivh. Will you survive? Or will you have to dig your own shallow grave?

Amazing map, but I have some questions:
1.Where is the Timmy?
2.What's the right tool to open old mill gate and where I can find it?
3.How to enter old church?
4.What's the kills in the player score?
5.Why soulgem only works one time?
6.Why you can attack without weapon? Even archer?

Ok, Ended the map with Fighter class, 4/5 secrets and without losing any lives
Bugs:
1.Heroes attack without weapon
2.A bug happens when use hook ability of fighter, I think it's because of dying hook units.
3.A bug happens when get task from arena master and you are next to him, He will block the pass.
4.Angel blessing is a bit bug, I think it's better to change its CD to 270 or 360 seconds.

Also I have a question: That flesh is Timmy? I'm speaking about the 5th secret.

Great map! Love the atmosphere.

Here's a couple of things I noticed;

  1. It said I dodged an attack, but I still took damage, and heard a "hit sound".
  2. I am playing a mage, and the enemies I meet seem unreasonably strong. I have no way of killing more than maybe 2 at the same time, and when I get ambushed by 4-5 enemies I am dead to say the least. Their power level is unbalanced. It really doesn't make it better that the units respawns, so I have to kill them again after I die. I keep trying to buy better gear to kill these bandit ambushers, but the gear makes a really insignificant change in my survivability. The melee units are fine, I can handle those, but the ranged units really gets me. I can try kiting the units across zones, but I am paused when changing zones, leaving me vulnerable to attacks.
  3. Sometimes when I talk to NPC's that are close to the upper part of the UI, the quest text appears behind the UI, rendering me unable to read parts of what they say.
  4. If I die while changing "zone" the cinematic mode goes crazy a bit :p
  5. I see no impact FX or projectile on the mage's first spell, only a slow effect? Seems a bit weird when it makes units explode if I kill them with it. I feel some kind of burst or blast effect would be cool.
  6. The terrain is generally very well done, however I believe it would look better if you use omnilights in the windows instead of a tilted fire doodad (can't remember its name). Also, there are thunders and lightning, but no rain and at the same time there's rays of moonlight even though there's thick white fog. I think you should either go for fully fogged like it is now, with rain or you should go with the rays of moonlight, a darker night environment with atmospheric omnilights in windows and by the lanterns. No matter, I think you should reduce the overly strong fog a bit. Other than that, great job!
  7. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I am trying to bring Timmy back to his mom but he doesn't want to talk to me and his friend only talks about digging some tunnel into an old chuch. I have returned his teddy bear already, but now he doesn't wanna listen to me. Little brat.

  9. Not really sure if there's a fix for it, but I can hold the unit portrait and see beyond your camera limitations: Screenshot
  10. The backpack has a selection circle, and can move around. If I hold the unit portrait of the backpack I can basically see the whole map by ordering the backpack to walk using the minimap :p Instead of moving the backpack to the hero when the hero moves maybe you can move it with a periodic trigger.
  11. At this point, since I have one life left, I am just attacking units, retreating, waiting for my HP to regen and then attacking again. It takes a loooong time....
  12. Finally able to learn a spell from the swordman. With some healing maybe things goes faster.
  13. When I returned to the arena the orc still had the same amount of HP as last time I fought him (I got killed).
  14. After I got a new spell I am able to kill stuff a lot more efficiently. You should make the first spell a lot better as I was struggling as hell for maybe 30-40 minutes.
  15. I can kill units through the wall. Specifically a shade found inside the soul gem: Screenshot + Screenshot + Screenshot
  16. I have no more explosives (I used my explosives in the sewers), and now I can't blast open the gate by the boat that leads you to captain hook...

I can't open the chest (I don't have a key), and I can't progress further without explosives. Timmy is refusing to follow me, and I can't re-enter the soul gem (ability activates cooldown, but nothing happens). In the graveyard there's three statues, some gates and nothing more. There's rumbling in the sewers, but I can't do anything there. I have killed everything in the arena. There's a well that talks about a crown, but there's no crown to be found anywhere. A man talks about his broken fishing rod, but no rod is in sight. A kid talks about digging a tunnel, but nothing more. A woman talks about an umbrella, but no umbrella to be found. A guy talks about a lost broom and bullying, but no bullies or brooms in sight. I can't even talk to Timmy's mom anymore, damn. Feels bad to be rejected by a busty mom like Timmy's. Some guy is worried Uther will expell him because he lost his sword, but there's no sword here.

At this point I have nothing to do.... It seems that using the explosives in the sewers makes me unable to find the bandit leader by the mill.

He's not timmy friend :peasant-grin:

Why don't use proest in the hall for regen? :peasant-confused:

It's a bug really, a really bad bug. I did that in my first experiance but it seems you must play it again and don't spent explosives in sewers.

Yes, I told you, you must play it again. (And please play as warrior, learn hook ability to see its really OP bug:peasant-cheers-back:, good luck with that)

Pretty nice, but some scenery has too much fog in it.
You could also try to reduce the draw distance on some screens to improve fps (ghoul area especially).
- turning shadows off helped greatly

Got stuck on first try with mage, rank 3 and some spells. Failed the voidwalker test, gotta reroll i guess.

Second try as an archer went pretty well (attack speed and proc effects = funky times).

Last secret is pretty dire :peasant-shocked:

A really nice map with well done scenery good puzzles.

I never found a third explosive, so I had to restart my playthrough.

5. made me play through it another time, 'cause I already solved a certain quest.
Some bugs here and there. (FeelsGoodMan already mentioned all of them, as far as i can tell.)

All in all a really well done story/rpg.

A credits list in the map description with the names of the authors whose resources you've used is mandatory. That includes models, skins, icons, custom spells, systems. Also, sounds, music and everything outside this site.
This helps you with the models, skins and icons from Hiveworkshop: Resources in Use by Visions of Stratholm | HIVE
A changelog would be nice and especially useful too.

Careful with the map tags. Use only the most adequate ones. I assume this one is an RPG, not a maze/escape/slide map for instance.

Please don't leave the author as unknown and write your name or the one of who made this map.

Emm, I just played it. Glad to see you are still making map.
Your scene and story is great. So is other bug, which reminds me of your other maps.
I recommend Archer best, then Fighter.
I think dragon bless could be the best. Gold fish bless is the useless because player not lack of gold.

Unique weapon hides learn hero ability button, need to drop weapon first.


  • Priest can totally heal the hero. But hero must get damaged if you just want to restore mana
  • Hold clicking someone's portrait can move the camera
  • Right click minimap to move towards some hard-to-click room edges
  • Cast range ability or attack away in different rooms of the church to kill some melee creeps
  • When Creeps are still neutral, hero cast ability at them

  • Soul Gem: A purple gem on the table
  • White bunny: Follow it for some times
  • Captain Hook: Enter the small boat, which is below the mill gate
  • Golden crown: There're many NPC that can only talked to but have no quests. First find the strange sword and talk to the man in the soul gem's room, then simply follow the clues. At last I recommend weapon, it's unique
  • Flesh: Bring Timmy to the wall of eyes, which also cause the quest fail
  • Chest in soulgem's room that gives you off-hand and armor, is repeatable
  • After third round of arena, enter again and there's one more room that have unique armor.
  • There're 3 explosive, one in the soul gem's room, one in tavern cellar, one in Kassan's room. Use in the sewer, the mill gate, and Timmy's room
  • Light the lamps to find the wall with eyes
