Very well made, both terrain and trigger work.

However, I did not understand the story at all:
SPOILER:
The whole cinematic was some weird-looking child running around in a house where it was hunted by a man and then it magically transformed into a girl.

Now, I made the assumption that the thing was the daughter and the other was the mother.
But I still don't know how or why she transferred, nor what all these other things were among the trees.

-subtitles please? I've watched it on youtube
-will you please tell me how you've made things black and white? Did you retexture everything? Or is there an easier way? I don't know how it looks in the game as I've watched it using the link
4.5/5. Short quality!

Aren't spoiler tags available anymore? If not, you could use the hidden tags. Thank you.
But I still don't know how or why she transferred, nor what all these other things were among the trees.
That's because one has to understand symbolism.

Thanks for the feedback, guys! :D

The story is supposed to be somewhat vague! There is indeed a story there, I just want to see what you guys find out. :)

- I will add subtitles to the youtube video tonight and add ingame subtitles with v.1.01 as soon as I have the time!
- Unfortunately there is no easy way to do this! I basically looked up every model which would be visible in the cinematic and then opened them all up in Warcraft 3 Viewer. I then extracted all used textures and lowered the saturation in Photoshop to make them black and white.

Besides reducing the video quality overall, Youtube also seems to add a touch of blue, which is why the cinematic looks much better in wc3.

Hmmmm, is this about gender dysphoria?
Child abuse came into my mind after watching the whole thing. First, I thought it was about people being puppets.

Some symbolism and etymology
A viola can either be an instrument (a tool people use for pleasure) or a flower (women are sensitive creatures and "bloom").
Now, viola has Latin roots. It means violet. It could also come from the Latin violo, violare which means to violate (to maltreat, to defile, profane).

The transition from the toy/puppet to the woman at the end could just mean that what she was used for was over and her real self would now start to manifest.

Review:

I've seen quite a few well made cinematic maps but I think this is the best one so far - by far. Like you said the story is vague, and meant to be. It's good since it gives people their own interpretations.

The story and music fits well together along with the vague scenery, filled with black and white and dull grey.

I feel like I should not give the entire scenery and tunes of the cinematic so I'll end my review here, with a word:

beautiful.

Look like a real minifilm! :)
Story is so... complex.
I however... when I watched it in the first seconds, I thought it was a flee-escape horrorcinematic, where our protagonist may run from a little monster, however that scenario not happened.

Amazing cinematic I can say it is something delicious for the eye.

For some it might be short but they have no idea how long it takes to make only one minute of cinematic in Warcraft 3 watching every detail. Specially indoors, I have tried in the past and making the cameras do their job is really frustrating, very well done.

I am not certain if I got the message properly but I will watch it one or two more times to get it fully. However I think the title for me has spoiled a good part: Viola. In my native language Spanish, Violar means Rape which is pretty self explanatory. At first I thought the cinematic would be about paranormal stuff, then when I saw the end my first thoughts were about human souls trapped inside dolls.
After some thinking I think I can say the story is about:

A mother, a daughter and a rapist (the husband or the man)

A mind shattering cinematic map. Simply one of those cinematics where it's not those horror cliches full of cheap jumpscares and storyline but this is something that will make you think and interpret your own side of the story. The terrain is pretty neat and high quality which also has a chilling atmosphere (that black and white color is the game changer). Dialogues are few but good plus the great voice acting. Great choice of music as well. I personally love those LoF (Layers of Fear) ones. It gives me the feeling of isolation.

Would gladly rate this a 5/5. Great job Ungoliath. One of the best cinematics I've seen. Short and simple!
