Vietnam War: ISH v1.1.0

The Vietnam War: ISH
Historical Background: It is nearing the end of 1964. Tensions have reached a boiling point in the newly independent states of Indochina. The failure of the South Vietnamese government to subdue communist agitation has forced the United States to take action and finally commit military force in the area to prevent the complete collapse of their Cold War ally. Small-scale guerrilla fighting is quickly giving way to all-out war as Vietnam and its neighbors are spiraling into the bloodiest era they have ever known.

Gameplay: Play as the North Vietnamese trying to unite the country under communist rule or as South Vietnam, who, along with their American allies, are desperately defending their independence while fending off endless insurgencies.

Each team has 4 players.
The Northern team consists of the People's Army of Vietnam (
Red) and the Viet Cong irregular forces (Pink, Gray, and Brown).
The Southern team consists of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (
Yellow) and the American military* (Blue, Light Blue, and Dark Green).

*Unlike the Vietnam War map of the olden days, the American players have identical techtrees. They just start in different locations.

Features: Many aspects of the game make it feel more realistic and offer more opportunities for interesting engagements.
  • Unique soundsets and attack sounds for most units
  • Hit F1 to select a unit that will help you control large armies
  • Tug-of-War system that determines the winners of the game (hold 7 special cities across the map to accrue victory points)
  • Income is split evenly between team members. If a player leaves, their teammates get their income instead.
  • Stick around after the game ends to see various player statistics, including damage dealt, actions per minute, and number of kills made by Snipers.
  • This map is unprotected. Feel free to learn from it! Keep in mind that no assets in this map (other than the terrain and most triggers) were made entirely by me; I do not claim ownership of them and therefore cannot provide permission for their use, distribution, or modification.

How to Play: If you want to claim victory for your team, you ought to know how this war is being fought!
  • Global abilities can be activated at certain structures; their cooldown is shared among all instances of that structure that you own. Many of these abilities cost money to use, but some are free.
  • Base structures can generally only be built on cobblestone near major cities. The Viet Cong have more leniency when it comes to this.
  • Several units and structures fire their weapon in bursts.
  • Snipers have to aim at their target for a few seconds before firing.
  • Vehicles can fire on the move, and some tanks have hull-mounted machine guns that shoot at enemies in front of the tank.
  • Artillery isn't 100% accurate and they have no attack-ground capability. Use their Barrage ability to increase their effectiveness.
  • Income is generated continuously. The North must control northern and southern territory for income. South Vietnam only benefits from controlling southern cities and towns, whereas the Americans receive a fixed income regardless of territory controlled.
  • You can relocate base structures. Using the Relocate ability will transform the building into a truck that can rebuild it elsewhere for free.
  • Don't get caught unprepared by enemy armor or air units. Armored vehicles such as tanks take almost no damage from small arms fire while air units, though fragile, can swiftly demolish entire armies.
  • Barracks heal nearby infantry, Factories repair nearby vehicles, and Helipads/Airfields repair nearby helicopters.
North:
  • Use Sappers to place invisible traps to slow down and kill enemy infantry and vehicles.
  • Build a network of hidden Tunnels that allow you to transport entire armies of infantry across the map
  • Equip your infantry with AK-47s and earn some extra cash by researching Bounties and killing enemy units
  • Incite Uprisings in enemy cities to distract your enemies.
  • Make use of Informants to keep tabs on enemy infrastructure and troop movements.
  • Hold onto southern territory to increase your income.
South:
  • Disperse Agent Orange to destroy trees, thereby opening up sight lines and room for your troops.
  • Deploy deadly air strikes to decimate opposing armies.
  • Equip your infantry with M16 Assault Rifles to mow down waves of guerrilla fighters.
  • Defend southern territory to secure income for your ally South Vietnam.
  • Send Pointmen and Dozers to spot, disable, and remove enemy traps.
  • Order your men to dig in and garrison foxholes around key jungle passages and other chokepoints.

There are two older iterations of this:
Any crediting that should be given to the original authors? Yours seems to be a remake but if it was inspired by some other works, please credit.

A credits list in the map description with the names of the authors whose resources you've used is mandatory. That includes models, skins, icons, custom spells, systems. Also, sounds, music and everything outside this site.
This helps you with the models, skins and icons from Hiveworkshop: Resources in use by Vietnam War: ISH v1.0.4
You can also upload your map here to generate a list: Asset scanner

Awaiting Update.

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

Impressive map with great historical accuracy.
The gameplay offers quite diverse strategies.
I can't get enough of these bullets, firing FX and the blood all around.
The voices of the soldiers are quite nice as well.
