Ultrafight
Hard

General
Hello everyone, I made this map almost 2 years ago but it gained like 0 popularity so i thought about making it public here.

Ultrafight is a 2 player co-op arena survival game.
To fight in the arena, every player has to choose one of three different predefined unitgroups.
After choosing your team, you can also buy some stuff (only heroes can use items) and then every player moves her/his team on the red/blue circle to begin the challenge.
With the latest version you can play it alone though, but only in a test modus to learn the map.
There are a total of 70 rounds now and it's completely random in which order they are.
To make this map even harder each round consists of a timer (which may differ from round to round).
Tactics like kiting or constant nukes for 10 minutes won't work and you have to beat the levels by thinking about team composition and micro management.

Why is there hard in the map name?
My original version of Ultrafight consisted of more modes and options like easy/medium mode and round timer on/off.
In general this modes/options are useless, because I aim to give intermediate to pro wc3 players a decent challenge with this map, so I overhauled all levels and made it permanently time based.

Goal
The goal of this map is to beat all 70 rounds either in classic or hard mode.
You have 3 lifes in both modes, which allow you to re-do a failed round.
If you still struggle too much on certain rounds you can make use of the skip function in order to beat the game.

Game modes
Classic:
There is nothing special to mention for this game mode.
All rounds are randomized and you have a timer to beat all the units inside the arena. Tech for NPC units is on max

Hard:
This mode has the addition of different affixes each enemy unit will gain.
I got this idea from world of warcraft where dungeons can have different affixes to make them harder.
In my map each unit gets a random buff out of the following pool:
-Vampiric: 10% life steal
-Thorns: Return 15% of incoming damage
-Strong: 20% more damage
-Armor: +5 Armor
-Haste: 20% more attack speed
-Poison: attacks deal 3 damage over 5 sec
-Cleave: 50% cleave attack
-Critical: 10% chance to deal 2.5 times damage
-Dodge: 15% chance to dodge an attack
-Hard skin: 50% chance to ignore 5 incoming damage
-Ignite: Every attack stacks 2 bonus dmg. Dying under debuff deals 30 AOE dmg.
-Burning: 10 damage per second to nearby enemies
-Health regen: Retores 2 health per second
-Spell immune (Round 10+): Unit is immune to spells
-Reincarnation (Round 10+): Unit reincarnates 1 time after death (roundtimer + 10sec)

Notice that not all units have the same buff each round, it is completely random for each single unit.
This can make certain rounds nearly impossible but also more fun to play around.

Noob:
In this mode you have 1000 lives and also the option to play alone.
I made this mode for everyone to test and learn the map.
Certain levels need a little bit of practice and it may be less frustrating to choose this mode then.
This is just like classic mode with more lives.

Some other mechanics
Skip round:
You can decide to skip a round by moving on the button for it with your selector unit.
If both players do so you will lose 1 life as payment to skip your current round.
Round timer:
Each round is time based and the time is different depending on the difficulty.
In general most rounds are between 2 and 3 minutes long, but some may be different like 30 sec speed fights and 4-5 min bossfights.
Special rounds:
Some rounds are not trivial and require some special actions in order to beat them.
I added some hints at the beginning of such rounds so you are not completely clueless what to do.
(There is for example a round where you have to heal some golems to full HP by doing dmg to them)
Camera:
If you accidentally scroll and zoom in you can type -reset in order to fix your camera.
Gold:
Both players get 100 gold each round and you won't get gold from kills so think as a team how you spend it.
Also if you fail a round your gold won't drop under 100, so you can at least buy some basic stuff for the next try.
For solo player both players will get double the amount of gold (200) in order to balance this (you can't spend gold from shared player).

This is a list of all rouds in the game and the basic "theme" behind it (I keep updating this).

Offtopic
The minimap design with the map name inside the map might look really awful but that's the joke behind it. Map sizes can only have certain numbers and I didn't know what to do with the lower part of the map so I just trolled there.

Everything is usual Warcraft III content. You can't use the resources of the other player for items if you play solo. Not really fair for the gold to go to the player who kills the last enemy unit when both play as a team. Gameplay seems pretty much...

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

Ok, yeah i noticed that too while writing this description and looking into the import manager.
I am not sure where this resources come from but I only use the 2 I credited.
To be precise round 44 is the ogre and round 45 the skeleton.

I will update the map soon and remove all this unused stuff from the import manager.

UPDATE 01-04-2018: Done

Not really fair for the gold to go to the player who kills the last enemy unit when both play as a team.
Gameplay seems pretty much luck oriented. You try a combination of units and see if it works. That second round with the canon that shoots fast and can hit units right near it. You can't even set the clockwork goblins to explode as the canon shoots too fast.

So, I'm really not sure of the gameplay... Feels forced and fixed.

EDIT:
Did it with the bear and mammoth, one running and the other hitting.

EDIT:
I will approve this even though I hope you will flourish the gameplay more in the future. As of now, feels as if some content is missing.
You could make the green part in the east look better with some doodads.

Ok, i updated the map description here in order to clarify the gold system.
Basically each player gets 100 gold each round/try (there is no gold from kills).
You can save this for the next round to buy more stuff or just spend it because you won't drop under 100 anyway.
The map isn't really intended to be played alone, but still i solved this by just adding 200 gold to both players if you play alone.

Regarding the rounds, yeah i put more effort in some rounds than in others, but still there is a solution for every fight.
Like the tower is normally done by using the bear running around and hitting it with another unit (pretty boring round).
The fact that all rounds are in random order should make it therefore more fun to play again.

Also some rounds have a hint how to do it at the beginning.

Ah, so that's what actually happened.

Hah, that's neat.
