Introduction:
This map is a small escape, however it is a tutorial, too. It will teach you how to make your escape high qualitative, I recommend this to you if you are making an escape map. If you don't do so, it doesn't matter, it is still fun to play. It has 3 levels, 14 different, actionful Escape Possibilities and some tips to improve your escape.




Important Note:
This Map is PROTECTED BUT there is an unoptimized version of it in this threat so if you want to look how things work here, you are welcome. I just optimized this map because of the filesize. I made an unoptimized version of this map because I hate people who think "I made this map and I don't allow others to see how I made it!" If everyone has this opinion, people can never make ambitious escapes and improve their owns, besides that escapes hosted in the battle.net will only suck. I also made a good description to each trigger I created what may help you to understand.




Game Modes:

Circle Mode:
If an Escaper dies, a Circle will be created at the position where the escaper died. If allied Escapers walk onto the circle, the dead Escaper will be revived on their current positions.
WARNING! Do not play a solo game in this mode, you will lose the game if you die once.

Live Mode:
Every player starts with 5 lives, if the lives fall to 0 he/she won't revive anymore.

Checkpoint Mode:
This is like Circle Mode, you will just revive at the last checkpoint. I recommend this Mode to avoid messy and unpatient Players.
WARNING! Do not play a solo game in this mode, you will lose the game if you die once.




Extras:

Renaming:
Bored of your name? Just change it! Write "-name [New Name]" (Replace the [New Name] to whatever you wish) and voila - your name is changed.
WARNING! Do not change your name into a moderator's name or you will be called "Big fat noob".

Recoloring:
Bored of your color, too? Just change it! write "-[Color]"
(Replace [Color] with red, blue, teal, purple, yellow, orange, green, pink, grey, lightblue or black) and voila - your escapers color has changed.
To change your color back to normal write "-normal"
You can also change your color to any random color. Just write "-wild"
You can also make your escaper transparent. Just write "-trans"

Kicking:
Only Player 1 (Red) and Moderators are allowed to use this function. They may write "-kick" and a dialog with a button for each current active players will apear. Click the matching button and the player will be kicked.
WARNING! Do not kick moderated players, you will fail.

Rules Violation
Map that violates the rules of hiveworkshop could be rejected.

Below are the list of violation that could had possibly occur.

1) Map protected and never mention at detail/description/information (Map that cannot be open by ordinary World Editor must had the statement of it being protected)
2) "Just another warcraft III map" title are not allowed even if it is written at other language.
3) Blank map with nothing on it.
4) Maps with offensive map previews or profanity in the name or description.
5) Maps that are written in languages other than English without English as alternate language.
6) Map that had been approve, but deleted and re-upload to had better rating.
7) Incomplete maps/alpha stage level map are not acceptable. (Must at least be at least at late beta stage)
8) Maps that serve no real gaming function such as special effects and trigger test maps.
9) Stolen/Hack/De-protect map.
10) Maps that do not use standard keyboard characters
11) Constantly upload the same map (Different version are not acceptable as well, you should had use the update button instead.)

Other than this violation, the map could had possibly rejected under other circumstances as well.
If you fail to follow this important rule, moderators will PM you again and all future versions of your map will not be approved until you do. If any user fails to reply in some way to the PM, more serious punishments may be brought upon them at the discretion of our moderators or administrators.
Positive Review
The bottom review is the list of positive stuff about this map. Positive review usually not only about how good the map is, but also if it follow the rules of thehiveworkshop.

[√] - This map is good for map editor who would like to design a maze game.
[√] - This map had lot's of useful function and player could even select what type of mode they want.

Okay, first at all thanks for approval Septimus, especially for the rating Recommended, that made me really glad.
Also I'd like to thank you for mentioning your points. I just updated my map.

Things changed:
- Changed the Name to "Tutorial Escape"
- Updated the Preview
- Made the floating texts smaller/replaced them so you can see the path


I also added extras to this map:
- Renaming
- Recoloring
- Kicking


I also added a game mode to this map:
- Checkpoint Mode


Still I have 2 questions.

70-80% of the map terrain is rather flat.

What exactly do you mean with that?

Some unit seem to move rather fast, try slow it down a bit.

I checked it but I couldn't find any mistakes. Could you tell me which units walk faster as the other?

Hi xxdingo93xx,

Fist i have to say it was a good idea to do something like a tutorial escape. There are so many noob like made escape on the bnet so this maybe will help!

To remove the leaks Flame_Phoenix said heres a good tutorial:


I have also the next question did you done your escape with "Locust" at my opinion this is a really important think for a escape map.

With "flat" he means you should make different highs into your map!

I will also check you map later for somethinks and give you some more ideas for it! Will update this soon...

EDIT: (Your map dont worked for me... lagged like hell o_O) - Works NOW

1. You should make you multiboard refresh (build it new) only when a player leaves... and otherwise just update (change row X to new value...) it!
2. You should use "Phoenixfire" and not "Immolation" this does not lagg... You said you tried before but it works just do again!
3. For your "Kill-Trigger" you should use "For each inteager 1 to 10" ... "for each player" does leak! Either way i done it at point 6. You should more use this!! ( If you use every time Inteager A and Inteager B it maybe will make issuses. Then use "For each inteager (Variable)" with different variables.
4. Whats with a mode with "Lives + Checkpoints"? This normaly the favorite mode for an escape.
5. Whats with a Slide part? Many people making escapes want to have sliding in it and dont know how it works^^ I can give you a really leakless slide trigger if you want!!
6. For you kill trigger you can use "For each inteager..." too and make it much shorter, watch this: (This is the way how you could improve lots of your triggers)

  • For each (Integer A) from 1 to 10, do (Actions)
    • Loop - Action
      • If (All Conditions are True) then do (Then Actions) else do (Else Actions)
        • 'IF'-Condition
          • (Clicked dialog button) Gleich KickDB[(Integer A)]
          • (Name of (Player((Integer A)))) Ungleich xxdingo93xx
        • 'THEN'-Aktionen
          • Game - Display to (All players) for 5.00 seconds the text: (Colorcodes[(Integer A)] + ((Name of (Player((Integer A)))) + |r has been kicked!))
          • Unit - Remove Escaper[(Integer A)] from the game
          • Unit - Remove Detector[(Integer A)] from the game
          • Unit - Remove Circle[(Integer A)] from the game
          • Set Alive[(Integer A)] = False
          • Set MB_Left[(Integer A)] = True
        • 'ELSE'-Aktionen


EDIT 2: Phoenixfire was still right... you should try to put in in right and donte do it with immolation!^^

If you want check out my escapes im sure you can get some ideas there! You can find them in my signature...

EDIT 3: 7. You should start other levels when the (first) player reach (if no one is in level 2 dont spawn units there) it and end the level when it is finished then (remove all units). For lives mode: (You should also add a count that menas a variable for the players and then everytime a level is finished by a player check if all players done it and then remove all units in it!!!)

8. Let escaper run faster! Its not funny if they walk as low as they do .. better do enemys faster e.g. (My Opinion, i done them 290)

9. Let players change there escaper model is a very n1 feature and many dont know how they should do this (how to changer hero on a way revive system e.g. still works you know?)... let them play sound e.g. there are so many thinks...

10. A Special idee is hard needed for a good escape you should tell this at you tutorial... For examples (this ides exist in maps i know): Nice spell ideas (Jump, PvP-Spells for not team based one etc), special modes, systems others dont have, the darkness in done in one of my maps or what ever or just the idea to make a tutorial ... XD What the hell ^^

11. What is with a feature to lock camera (moves with your hero) or change it to special position (top view, zoom out...) with a commant! You should not lock the camera settings, you should let the player decide how he want to have it. Anyway you should avoay triggers like "every 2 sec" timer like you done for lock camera with settings to user!


I have to say you trap ideas and terrain are great done! Well done at all...
Finally I would advice you to work over some of your systems (lagg, leak, to complikated done) and also structuring you triggers in more categories i think this is confusing at moment. Normally this is uninteresting but this should be a tutorial right? ^^. You should also do this before working on "Tutorial Escape 2" i would say because others want to learn from you (I think i they learn it not the perfect way right?) That means not you maps is not nice made ... i think you understand what i mean :)

If you have questions just ask me i will help you with systems or something else... I hope this was helpfull for you!

EDIT: Change some thinks to make it clearer for you what i mean! If something is claudy please ask for it more specific.

Well, I found the reason of this lag hell. I wanted to make the units unclickable and I gave them the ability Locust and Phoenixfire to kill, anyway it didn't work and caused such a lag. Now I used immolation for it. It is just a every-1-second-kill however it kills and works :D Also I fixed all possible unit group leaks.

I am pleased if you all can give me some more ideas, I will try to put them into Tutorial Escape 2 which is under construction!

i got an idea :)
Make a Wall... thats not Really a Wall and put up a place where there is a guy named "Bruiser of Masacre" and put lotsof Corpses around then do like u have to go through the invisible wall becuse Brusier of Masacre Kills u if u dont,use some AWSOME undead custom skin/model For the Bruiser of Masacre and one more thing there must be a way to the otherside of the wall behind the Bruiser or they will never die by him :)

Hey dingo, I've tested the map and I've found a bug. I run into the last checkpoint. A cinematic startet, but then nothing happens. The escaper doesn't run down to the field... Soo It's stucked...

But it's a very cool Idea...

Anyway you did a very good job, you added a few more systems (I like the abomination xD), but the decoration is THE SAME as me, and I don't really like it...
But this map is free, it's a good thing for newby mappers, hope it will help them.
Maybe you could also add the jump system I made, but do it a little less difficult...

But please when you steal ideas like that, send a message to the creator, it's better :wink:

You did a very good job to do an unprotected map like this one, even if there are many of my ideas in it xD
DON'T remove it of hive LOL, many newby mappers will be happy to see this map, as they can learn many things in it I think.

Still there is a little bug in my map which can ruin the game completely, maybe you can help me with it...
The camera of Player 1 (Red) will pan to allied escapers if they die or revive. I tried many times to fix that but I can't find any solution for it :S could you help me with it? :D

Oh, and i tried your Spike Impact :D
One thing i dislike about it, is that even thou you set up the range, it doesnt change the "Model", so if the range is at ..5.. then it would still be ridicolus big spikes :D
(Not good if you want other size of the models-)
PS: Ridicolus equal to bad equal to false :D
