Training Teepee

A few years ago, i was working in a project where i tried to recreate (roughly) an RTS game which i really enjoyed as a kid, called "America: No Peace Beyond the Line". It wasn't exactly groundbreaking gameplay-wise, but the art style was great and it had some incredible sprite-based construction animations which really gave you a sense of how the process would look in real life, and this has inspired me a lot in my modeling. I'm trying to finalize some of my old models now for posterior to enjoy, so i'm starting to release my native American set.

This model has no base underneath it, but if you set the pitch/roll angles high enough it should adapt to the terrain none the less, and i won't be bothered with adding one. I hope you enjoy.

UPDATE: Fixed death sound... i think!

UPDATE2: Now properly displays smoke in Stand Work.

Changes done. Works well in-game, approved.
Oh, I remember the game you're talking about. It was something like Age Of Empires II with native Americans, before AoE3. You had to buy rifles to get rifle infantry. Interesting stuff.

The model is lovely by the way. Really nice texture work.

Thanks! Yeah, you also had a "horse" resource for when you trained cavalry! And when cavalrymen got killed they had a chance of falling off the horse, allowing any unit to mount it. You could have awesome Apache riflemen cavalry who stole their horses and rifles from the frontiermen!

I can only hope the Native Americans won't use gravity defying poles like the pesky Celts.

I can't make any promises on this one. ;)

That's right, I totally forgot that.

wow, this is good work. the stand work is invisible in the model viewer by the way.

On top, I think that this screen is really great, the composition and all, I am serious: I think you took an amazing screenshot there

Ah, it brings back the memories of that old game :) my favorite faction is the Outlaws, though

Would really love to see the whole set of Native American buildings as seen in the game

Splendid idea!

Ive got the game to run under win7 but it slows down to a crawl over time very quickly and always ultimately crashes(mostly too soon, eg. before able to make an save).

Horse and Guns system of that game would have fit perfectly into AoEIII, during the development of AoE(cant exactly remember if I or II but) they had consider to have an horse pasture building and horse unit to train cavalry, was supposed to help them being rarer on the field. I have always thought if some devs were formerly AoE devs perhaps due to similarities.

In the original concept of AoE3 every nation had to have an Archaic units tier, i suppose Guns could be easily integrated into the whole as an extra resource getting only delivered at Tradeposts and through home shipments.
That way you wouldnt able to spam gunpowder units entire time from epoch2 onwards. Factories would able to produce them ofcourse and can be bought at market at expensive rates after like, epoch3.

Nice model. Useful for survival map. But :) Where did you get the rock and the tileset? (referring to image)

They doodads are my own, the ground textures are a part of Red Shift's "savannah" tileset (not sure if he published it, but he was once kind enough to send it to me). I might upload the rocks and grass if anyone is interested in them.

Here you go!

Is there any difference between Stand and Stand Work?
3/5.

Yeah, or well - there is now, fixed the smoke emitter so that there's smoke coming out of the top during Stand Work (thanks SNIper of DARKness for pointing this out). Ugh, 3/5 is pretty lousy, do you have any other particular feedback?
