Interesting to see such a tiny map.
I like it for it's simplicity.
There are two areas i could see improved:
-Lump doodads more together. People prefer to fight in areas not obstructed by tiny doodads that you can hardly see during fights. It creates frustration if your unit dies because he was blocked by a rock you barely could see.
-There's no point of interest at the bottom, making top area overcentralised. With no real incentive to pass over to your enemy if you just build for endgame. Maybe some shallow water or a goblin shop to at least allow units to pass over.

The map is quite small, so the combats are practically direct, this implies the need for accessible camp, as I would do a strong camp on center of the map. For this reason, I would make the camps more accessible.

On the other hand, bridges often create bottlenecks in combat, which can greatly harm one of the players. I would change the bridges on the sides for wider paths to improve combat and create a strong camp in the center.

Finally, it would give more space in the area of the bases, although it is true that a map like this the games are fast, it is preferable to avoid more bottlenecks.

Greetings.

"- Balanced Item-drops" by this statement , I think you are looking for balance, so I really sugest to seek balance in all aspects , not only items, and the size of the map, distance between players, neutral buildings are key for balance.

If you are aiming for ladder or competitive melee play, I would sugest:

re-work the map in 96x96 and for 1vs1 work in 96x96, 128x96, 128x128, or it could work 96x64. 64x64 is ok for cinematics and minigames.

64x64 doesn´t have the proper distance between players. In maps like this, humans can send militia to rush the enemy in 1 min, or build arrow towers very near the enemy to not let them expand. There are 64x64 melee maps made by blizzard but nobody plays them in contest (an user can veto a map saying why not to play a map because:... so they can chose a more balanced map).

Also doing in 96x96 will allow you to improve in:

1) add mercenary camps
2) add more creeps to level up the heroes
3) add expanding goldmines, to have the fun of expand
4) add a tavern in the middle (or 2 taverns), to have more heroes
5) maybe add more wood and even goblin labs.
6) a river from side to side with shallow water can have shipyards.

for ladder: tavern is necesary. (NE don´t have tank heroes like the pandarem, the beast-master in the tavern)

If you want my experience, I did 2 maps in 64x64, and I re-made them in 96x96 to improve them in a 500% way.
Work a 64x64 map is not that much work, it can be done in 1 day, so if you re-work in 96x96 you are not loosing nothing, and a 96x96 it may take more, but map will have much more value for the melee comunity

not necesary item: the name

the name of the map grants you downloads, like a the title of a movie

imagine if: lord of the rings would be called: "the guy who carried a ring" nobody would buy it or see it.

an interesting name will give you more downloads.

instead of

Three Bridges Two Roads

I would sugest

i don´t know , I have a map with a river and I called it Iskaal River: Iskaal River v 2.04

name the river ( Yenisei River, Anagara River, Argun River, Gazimur River) may give soul to the map and not just some bridges and roads that are in tons of maps. Names give soul to things and allow us to recognice the diference between 1 river and the other, 1 forest and the other, one person and the other.

Or focus the name on the bridges. The Bridges of Krasnodar, The Bridges of Kaluga, The Bridges of Ishim, The Bridges of Tulun.

Just sugestions, do as you wish.

see ya
