The Lich King Again

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
In this upload, I am uploading The Lich King Again.

Other people already made their own of The Lich King, but I didn't know that and didn't pay attention to resource section and made this a few months ago. If my memory serves correctly, this model was not made from the other identical looking models on Hive, but is instead the same process applied again:

- Animation transfer from Arthas (wielding Frostmourne) onto undead arthas from horse
- Removal of horse
- Adding of Lich King Helm from Lich King Doodad

Then I added some eyeball glow that is the same style emitter as what we find on his sword. That's different from some other The Lich Kings that other people made where the eye glow is some unique effect, or the sword has WoW blue fire on it, or whatever -- I didn't do those other things.

I am uploading this because the model does exist, and it helps us explore the question of whether the model section should have five or ten identical models created by totally separate authors or whether they should be taken down. Are we archiving what exists, including my personal The Lich King implementation, or are we making a system where one Lich King To Rule Them All gets uploaded and the rest are hidden or voided out of existence?

I don't know the answer, but by uploading my personal The Lich King Again, which I made on accident without really figuring out that other The Lich King(s) were around, I can create discussion about the problem and also this doubles as a way for anybody who wanted my personal Lich King in their map.

As far as differences in design between the lich kings:

Some of the others follow a shared development path.

From what I gathered looking at models and site posts, my best approximation of the development paths were:
  • HolyRavioli -> Imported arthas w/ frostmourne animations onto undead arthas, and then did a bunch of frame-by-frame fixes to the sword to try to prevent it from flying out of his hand during attacks and spell casts
    • Z1003 -> made a variation on this model that has lip sync
      • Z1003 -> added the lich king helmet and lich king thematic flare to this model (epic flare from WoW or something, looks really good)
      • Malmgrev -> added the lich king helmet and lich king thematic flare to this model (custom texture for eye color and perhaps other slight tweaks vs in-game arthas texture)
  • Symphoneum -> Imported arthas w/ frostmourne animations onto undead arthas, and then used the Parent mechanism to attach the sword back to the hand and get good animations without as much excessive Frame-by-Frame reinvention of artwork, then created custom stylized textures with significantly different coloration
  • Retera -> Imported arthas w/ frostmourne animations onto undead arthas, didn't do anything about the sword so it looks bad up close and flies out of his hand, added lich king helmet and eye glow, fixed & added lip sync

In summary, based on my analysis, if I was actually going to try to make a custom map with the best possible Lich King hero, I'm tempted to think that I would probably use the model from Z1003 but with the textures from Symphoneum. Is that allowed? I guess we would have to ask those authors.

Thats a very good think that u've made a comparison with other Lich King models, I think many people will appreciate this. At least, you're beeing very objective so, thats a great point. I like the intention, and will be glad to test your to see those difference :D At the first look, it seems great :)
 
Z1003 just need to fix the hair issue in his model, other than that his model is just on another level compared to mine. I just made the Lich King model to learn the retera tool.
I really like the blue glow on the eyes, too bad there are very few glow effects in reforged and I have yet to find a red one which I would really like to use as a smiliar eye-glow effect. Blizzard should have gone with the eye glow effect from classic wc3, looks much better. Is it possible to add a glow effect from a classic wc3 model to a reforged one?
