The Big Fellowship Quest V.5.7c

Presentation

Select your hero and being your journey thought middle earth!! This map contains all events from three Lord of The Rings movies.Heroes which are available: Frodo,Sam,Merry,Pipin,Boromir,Gandalf,Aragorn,Legolas,Gimli, Boromir.
This map requires the use of teamwork. Do not be negative and work with other players to complete the map. This includes communication, and sharing items and gold with other players.
When picking skills it is recommended to pick the upgrade of your heal or self-heal ability when it becomes available which is normally at the 3rd and 5th levels of a character. If you choose an AoE ability, do NOT use it constantly. It will drain your mana and you will not have enough for your healing ability.



In-Depth

Sauron created the One Ring to control all countries of Middle Earth. But Isildur cut the ring from Saurons hand and took it for him self. The One Ring poisoned his spirit. Later he did get killed by orc troops and the ring was lost. Smeagol found it and he also took it for him self. His spirit has been corrupted, then he lost it to Bilbo who bequeathed it to Frodo. Frodo went to Rivendell, an elf city and the Middle-earth council decided to form the Fellowship of the Ring. Now the story goes on...


Everyone gets one revive per charakter so don't die two times else you are dead forever! Gameplay is simple, pick heal and other skills, heal yourself, team work with others.Kill monsters, orcs, be aware of bosses they have powerfull spells. The map also contains custom scenes and alternative story line of saving boromir at amon hen, LOTR voices,sounds,cutscenes and a lot of exclusive models.Sometimes in game you have to wait for others, its made like that because story has to be correct.Hobbits aren't weak so Don,t be afraid to play as them.

5.7b small hot fix for 5.7a
-added forgotten path blockers near helms deep at purples mini game and mumakils from ithelien arent kill able anymore. Imp mode gives +9 dmg to all enemies, it has been nerfed. New boss item sarumans staff has been added do not forget to pick it up from saruman after he dies. You have only 8 seconds to do it because teleporting is delayed!


5.7a small hot fix, amon hen didnt work in 5.6e it got disabled by accident and enemy damage is changed to in hard mode+8 dmg and in imp mode +14 dmg


5.6d changelog

New stuff:
-Helm's Deep terrain has been reworked.

Bug fixes:
-Fixed a bug where the charge at Helm's Deep could be triggered twice.
-Orcish helmets and +1 stats items should now drop properly.
-Hard mode should now require the correct amount of votes; something was messed up in the 5.6c version, and it didn't work.
-Rare bug that could occur during the evil hero fight has been fixed; the bug made some heroes invulnerable.

Gameplay changes:
-A checkpoint has been added at the Edoras cutscene. Heroes are set to 100% mana and HP. Additionally, the same checkpoint has been added for Frodo and Sam after repairing the boats at Amon Hen.
-Once again, Crebains after the Troll Path have been reworked. The spawn is removed, but instead, there are two pre-placed groups of Crebains flying around the area.
-Caradhrass's easter egg chance has been increased from 5% to 9%.
-Theoden's E horse skill's damage has been buffed.
-An item called "Half of Lembas Bread" has been added. It heals for 500 HP when used and is available in Lothlorien shop and in the inventory at the start, instead of Lembas Bread, which heals for 800 HP.

5.6c changelog




New Stuff:
  1. Added arrows that point over the Circle of Powers at Helms Deep.
  2. New low-impact item Orcish Helmet added; it has a chance to drop from Uruk-hai at Two Towers.
  3. Unique item "Bereoning Bow" added, which drops from Bereoning Archer in bear form at Caradrhass.
  4. Minas Morgul added to the game on Frodo and Sam's route before they enter Shelob's cave.

Bug Fixes:
  1. Camera after the Grimma fight now returns to normal; the bug is fixed.
  2. Fixed the bug where villagers were not willing to go to Helms Deep.
  3. Fixed a bug that ruined the Easter egg experience at the Black Gate.
  4. Boromir's save dialogue fixed; there was a sentence that said Boromir is dead.
  5. Aragorn's charge at the Black Gate is now properly synced with the soundtrack.
  6. Fixed the bug that did not give a defeat if Gandalf the White was alive as the last hero and he had already used immortality after splitting.
  7. Fixed the bug with Theoden not dying to the Witch-King at Pelennor Field when owned by light blue.
  8. Fixed the hole in Caradhrass's terrain, and it shouldn't be possible to see part of Helm's Deep keep from Caradrhass.
  9. Fixed the bug where Celeborn did not automatically give the correct amount of remaining heroes at dialogue while entering Lothlorien.
  10. During Boromir's save, as soon as Lurtz dies, all Uruks near the Amon Hen statue will charge at the trio and Boromir.

Gameplay Changes:
  1. Reduced the camera annoyance for Gandalf during the fight with the Balrog; there was action at the start and end of the beginning Amon Hen cut scene that annoyed Gandalf's player.
  2. Changed description for Gap of Rohan at the voting window.
  3. It's impossible to walk around goblin traps at Moria; specifically, the place where goblin archers are located and at least three traps. This affects one of the three random routes at Moria.
  4. Goblin units from paths you aren't meant to go on are now hidden, preventing players from bugging them out and killing them.
  5. Legolas at Caradhrass isn't able to kill the wolven den behind the mountain; there was a gap in the vision pathing.
  6. Camera is less annoying for Gandalf during the fight with the Balrog; there was action at the start and end of the beginning Amon Hen cut scene that annoyed Gandalf's player.
  7. Changed the way the Battle of Helms Deep can be finished. Now, if the charge isn't triggered yet and Gandalf has already finished his quest, then Gandalf can come to Helms Deep and automatically trigger the charge. After the charge is over, a cut scene with Gandalf coming to Helms Deep is displayed. The old way of triggering the charge is still available; heroes can still trigger it.
  8. Maximum possible level for the trio and Purple to gain during the Helms Deep battle is 15 if Caradhrass was played and 14 on the normal route. Also, during the last charge, they aren't able to receive any gold from killed Uruks.
  9. Feather, Orcish Heart, and Flower are stackable up to a maximum of 2 stacks.
  10. Evil's hero War Stomp damage is changed; it's improved from 200 to 450, and stun duration from 4 to 5 seconds.
  11. During the evil's hero cut scene, all alive heroes are invulnerable to prevent their death to orcs or fireworks.
  12. Gandalf the Black is able to summon Nazguls at the evil hero fight.
  13. Sauron's theme is set to 72% of volume when Frodo and Sam are dead.
  14. Heroes are teleported to a safe spot as soon as they enter the beginning of the bridge at Moria; they don't need to go halfway anymore to prevent trolling at the bridge.

Other Changes:

  1. Map's description updated.
  2. Ore's and old shield's description updated.
  3. Removed 2 archers in Amon Hen for Frodo and Sam's route; Frodo and Sam now have vision over the whole Amon Hen for their path.
  4. It's impossible to walk around goblin traps at Moria; specifically, the place where goblin archers are located and at least three traps. This affects one of the three random routes at Moria.

  7. Expert mode requires 6 votes if there are 9 players in the game, 5 if there are 8, 4 if there are 7 or 6 players, and if there are fewer than 3 or equal to 3, then the majority decides.
  8. The table that shows players' points is 1% less wide, and it has been reworked to show only points that are based on players' wins. Normal mode is 1 point, expert is 2, impossible is 3. Winning Caradhrass gives now +1 point instantly after Caradhrass is over (the point is given and saved as soon as Caradhrass is finished). Game wins on each mode are still accessible by typing the command -stats.
  9. Edoras column that was placed accidentally in Ithilien is removed.
  10. Players aren't able to see bears at Caradhrass while they are at the wolven path.

5.6b changelog

New Updates:
-Theoden's room has a new area, but the gameplay remains the same.
-There is now a 5% chance of a new Easter egg occurring at the normal Black Gate.
-An existing Easter egg in the game also has a 5% chance of occurring during Caradhras.

Gameplay Changes:
-During the charge at Helm's Deep, heroes receive +60 armor, and the number of Rohirrim spawned for the purple is increased from 4 to 7.
-Additional Uruks that spawn in Helm's Deep (those added in version 5.6a) no longer grant experience, preventing heroes from becoming over-leveled.
-Gandalf cannot arrive at Helm's Deep until the last charge finishes.

Bug Fixes:
-Helms Deep charge fixes: All Uruks are properly paused, and invulnerability is correctly removed.
-The bug related to the invisible circle and market at Helm's Deep keep has most likely been fixed.
-Campfires at Caradhras now heal casters; previously, the person who used the campfire didn't receive HP regeneration from it. The last campfire at Caradhras has also been fixed.

Other Changes:
-Soldiers with players' names that spawn around Minas Tirith/Helm's Deep now have a darker color and 150 more HP than other soldiers.
-There should be fewer lags at Helm's Deep caused by Uruk-hai orders.
-Selecting the option to enable map vision before the game is hosted should no longer have an in-game impact.

5.6a changelog


New Features:
-The appearance of Helm's Deep's keep has been changed. Keep was reworked and is now enterable. Heroes are now capable of leading a last charge when Uruks enter the inner keep. During this charge, a circle will appear. This change is also intended to prevent heroes from hiding and endlessly farming at Helm's Deep. The charge provides a +500% damage boost and a +100% increase in attack and movement speed for 60 seconds. During this time, all orcs also provide experience as usual, allowing players to eliminate numerous enemies quickly.
-Two new Easter eggs have been introduced, each with an 8% chance of occurring at the two towers. Further information will not be provided as these are Easter eggs.
-An old man archer has been added to Helm's Deep. This archer deals high damage but has slow attack and movement speed.

Bug Fixes:
-The Balrog has been reassigned to Sauron's faction. It was a mistake to have it assigned to neutral hostile.
-Using a horn on Nazgul during the evil hero fight should no longer cause desync. This change also places Nazguls on par with other bosses on the map, meaning they cannot be knocked back, for example.
-Leadership has genuinely been removed from Gandalf during the Balrog fight.

Other Changes / Balance Adjustments:
-Most of the in-game texts are expected to be corrected by Crab Lord and DrStrangeluv. I use "expected" because I would like every player to verify whether there are still texts in the map written in poor English. If any are found, please report them in the text fix channel on Discord.
-The duration of Nazguls summoned by the evil hero has been increased.
-The healing skill of the evil hero has been nerfed. Now, it provides an additional +100 HP after healing instead of +290 HP.
-The evil hero receives fewer bonus INT points but more STR points.
-The chance to obtain a knife from goblins at Moria has been increased.
-Flowers that provide +1 INT have a lower chance of spawning from enemies, while the other two items that grant STR and AGI have a higher chance.
-Four orc archers have been added to Gandalf's maze, the one where he has to find riders. This change ensures that Gandalf won't progress too quickly, allowing players to utilize the charge at Helm's Deep.

5.5f is small hotfix which's point was to balance balrog fight

Changelog for 5.5f
New Features:
-Added 4 new droppable items with a low impact, providing bonuses such as +2 damage or +1 to one of the stats. These items can only be obtained from specific enemies at designated locations and are sellable for 5 gold. Due to this change, everyone now starts with 92 gold instead of 95.

Balance Changes:
-Removed Leadership from Gandalf after the cinematic with Balrog ends, making the game faster and preventing players from waiting for the battle to conclude.
-Balrog fight adjustments: Reduced Balrog's move speed from 185 to 160, resulting in the circle taking 1 second longer to disappear. Defeating Balrog now grants Gandalf 40 gold instead of 25. Balrog's armor has been changed from -2 to -9, and its attack speed is adjusted from 3.7 to 4.2 seconds. Gandalf can't return to downhill of the mountain if the fight with Balrog is enabled. Additionally, one lembas also spawns during the Balrog fight. Gandalf the White no longer inherits Gandalf the Gray's items. Gandalf the White will always spawn with 2 waters, regardless of what items Gandalf the Gray had. Also, Edoras elven water is removed if Gandalf the White is present. Changed ownership of Balrog to neutral hostile to see if it prevents its weird movement during the fight. Balrog's fire circle now has 50 less range, and its animation has been updated. Let me know which animation you prefer.


Bug fix:
-Fixed issue with game timer sometimes not being displayed propley on some resolutions
-Gandalf's worker is invisible during amon hen
-Gandalf the white can't become ranged anymore
-Balrogs and bereoning's spell cant anymore reach other areas in map that they arent supossed to reach

Other Changes:
-Some in-game texts have been modified by Crab Lord and DrStrangeluv.
-Reduced the width of the victory points table for a better user interface.
-After Pippin arrives at Minas Tirith, he now has a permanent Gondor outfit.
-Modified the area at the death path near the King of the Dead. Although this change wasn't necessary, the previous version had visible map borders, giving players the impression of being locked in a tiny room. Please let me know what you think of this modification.

New Stuff:
-Reworked balrog fight and balrog terrain at the mountain. (In the future, gameplay featuring Gandalf vs. balrog at the underground of Moria might be added.)

Balance Changes:
-Dwarven warrior ability now has a 9-second longer cooldown and is now capped. There is a maximum amount of armor Gimli can gain from it. If Gimli reaches the maximum armor, the bonus should be given instantly. Additionally, while using the ability, Gimli experiences a movement speed decrease, so AI should be more willing to target him.
-Gandalf's immortality isn't removed at Caradhras; however, if he dies there, he will lose a level and revive with low mana.
-Sauron's forces have vision of the trio during the boro save after strong Lutrz spawns. The vision is removed if Lutrz dies.
-Bears are removed after the troll path but before the maze with ice. Birds that are enabled after heroes go out from the troll path will now spawn endlessly until heroes reach the beginning of the maze with ice. Only the first bird group gives experience

Bug Fixes:
-Hobbits no longer can become invureable at fangorn
-Purple's victory points are no longer lost if he plays as Eomer.
-Caradhras is no longer available on easy mode.
-There was a chance for characters to be softlocked after the Watcher knocked them out of the playable area.
-The table showing victory points is now wider, allowing the whole rank name to be seen. The bug where the score wasn't displayed correctly at the end of the game is fixed.
-Neutral campfires at Caradhras at the troll path no longer heal heroes; they can heal heroes only if captured.
-Saruman's blizzard should now work properly. Blizzard should fall in the area until its duration is over and not fall just once like it used to.
-more tress have been added to black gate to fix zelot's bug

Other Changes:
-Few Discord members have access to give victory points to people who have lost their points due to a bug.
-Haldir's position at Lothlorien is changed if Caradhras is played.
-It's easier to gain some starting ranks now as fewer victory points are needed.
-This change does not impact gameplay, but the damned warriors at the death path now have level 20 instead of level 25. I noticed that their level was set to 25, even though the maximum possible level for any creep is level 20. The game's engine was sending notifications about it, but it's unlikely to be responsible for the 1 fps bug.

-Crebains at charadrass that spawn after troll path spawn now faster by 7 seconds
-Bereoning archer is invureable during fight, all bears have 300 hit points less, final bear boss gets movement speed increased while using his rage.

Other changes:
-Hobbits names were changed
-Win counter:
added title ranks next to player names, rank depends on point normal victory = 1 point, expert mode win = 2 points, imp win = 3 points.
Easy mode isnt viewed at win counter anymore, leavers shouldnt get now their win improved at the end of game, changed colours at win counter table, also triggers responsible for loading / saving win data were slightly modyfited because there was a bug that hardly ever ereased stats for some players. Win counter now shouldnt dissapear and should reappear if someone was afk at start also it shouldnt have bugged double names of players at the end of game.

New version 5.4e is a hotfix for the previous version. It doesn't fix all the bugs, but I will continue to work on them if I don't forget.

New features:
-Added a feature that counts players' game victories. It doesn't count victories on "very easy" mode. Everyone's score is displayed in a table in the upper right corner.

Gameplay changes:
-People really hated the wild goblin model, so its model and unit's name have been replaced with "black goblin".
-The evil hero gets less intelligence bonus, and his additional heal adds 290 HP instead of 450.
-The Berenning boss fight has been remade. All bears have less HP, and their HP scales with the number of heroes alive. The brown bear has backstab, and bears fart takes away heroes' hit points. The Berenning archer uses the volley spell, and the Berenning archer in bear form uses shockwave and charges at the furthest hero in his position.
-Added a 5-second delay before the game ends at Charadrass when one split team fully dies.
-The text at the voting window between Moria or Charadrass has been changed.
-Saruman uses blizzard and silence faster, but the interval before he starts striking at the Fellowship is increased by 30 seconds.
-At Charadrass, the troll's trap life was nerfed, and 9 seconds of timed life was added to it.
-The camera shake that hammer trolls can do is nerfed. It no longer makes the screen black, and it shakes less. It also has sound, and the buff is displayed over the hero who's being shaken (wine won't work to dispel it).
-Campfires at Troll's Path were reworked. The main point is to make them faster so that the bear team waits less for the troll team. At least 2 heroes need to step near the campfire to enable it. It also displays a message when each campfire is enabled.
-Deep snow, ice pieces, and all the ground traps at Charadrass are no longer knockable.
-Legolas's volley deals less damage to wolven dens.

Bug fixes:
-Items dropped by wolves at Charadrass are no longer endless. I think I also added a message when the item pool at wolves and dens runs out.
-Some heroes weren't able to knockback wolves at Charadrass. I changed some triggers, and it should now work okay.
-Pippin's passive damage against bosses should now work vs bear bosses at Charadrass.
-Raw meat and frozen water no longer share the same cooldown with lembas and elven water.
-Gandalf the White can now be controlled by Gray if gandalf gray died during Charadrass.
-The bug with 1 hero having cold effect after going out of Charadrass is probably fixed.
-I'm still trying to fix the bug that results in 1 FPS for players sometimes. Please inform me if it happens in the new version. I added some basic debuggers, changed a few models in Edoras, and some events. It's really unknown what can cause 1 FPS late game. Also, I fixed the memory leak at Sauron's life drain trigger, but I doubt it's responsible for FPS drop.
-Probably fixed temporary FPS drop during the Berenning boss fight at Charadrass. The drop was caused by some ability, and it has nothing in common with the previous one.
-Heroes no longer become workers when they slide on ice.
-Probably evil Gandalf and evil Boromir should drop the One Ring when they are killed.

-Added a few new models for enemy units, light blue units, and items.

-Gandalf's staff item has been nerfed.

-Theodens skill set has been fully reworked, for now eomer has same skill set as Theoden.

-impossible mode requires more votes for 9 players in game its 7 votes required.
-balance of dead eye has been very slightly changed
-added check point after watcher dies, however it gives only 100% life and 60% mana
-helms deep spawn gets disabled a bit later now than in previous version, i mean disabling uruk hai spawn when the castle is flooded with urukhai
-urukhai in helms deep spawns now every 19 seconds of game, in old version it was every 22 seconds, 4 rohan soldiers have been removed from helms deep.
-gimlis axe can hit only 9 enemies max however it deals higher damage per lvl, the damage per lvl is now 16.
-reduced the amount of rohan riders at pelenor fields by 6
-boromirs ultimate spell slightly nerfed
-one lvl of attribute bonus (heroes stats) has been removed
-boromirs taunt spell has been changed and has 100 range less
-all heroes in game have same prioryty now, i am not sure if it matters but i found out there is in editor value called unit priority, its probably responsible for Ai aiming units with low priority

-amon hen spawn for frodo and sam at the camp will no longer be disabled if 1 of the hobbits was dead.
-fixed the conditions for ending of minas tirith battle it should work now propley.

other changes:
-Any warnings about clokey have been removed, clokey has been forgiven.
-removed not really needed trigger that was running every time unit died on map and was put on waiting, i hope this can improve a bit fps during battles, however now bodies of dead units will stay on ground longer for few seconds

With the game becoming laggy sometimes i decided to do a lot of optimization at the triggers, i really hope it gets better now we have to find it out in this version, also note if something that always worked is bugged report it to me it means it got broken when i was changing triggers

-Orcs at minas tirith stop spawning if the white tree of gondor is dead and witch king is dead or he escaped pelenor fields (nope, you cant win without aragorn its just done for optimization and less lag)

-Fixed issue with call for aid button, it now works normaly for Legolas and Aragorn.
-Fixed bug caused by the latest reforged pacht that made some rocks on map invisible
-Frodo can no longer rush to Sam if he spawned on the right side of Amon Hen.
-The triggers that revive characters were optimized so some bugs can be expected.
-Possibly fixed a bug with teal's call for aid button being available at black gate when teal's hero has full hp
-Feeding Bill's ability will no longer have CD if Sam uses this ability when he has no more gold
-Sharp rock at the start of Frodo's and Sam's maze is now owned by neutral player in order to prevent a rare bug that killed hobbits after cut scene with sharp rock ended

Gameplay changes
-Pippin and Merry receive now vision over Grishniak in the fargorn forest, once he spawns
-Once again for 100 th time i tried to make aiming volley bit easier
-At Frodo's and Sam's part of Amon hen,only one uruk should have a net skill, if the uruk with net skill dies then another one should spawn in next wave.in the previous version a lot of uruks with nets used to spawn.
-an voting to sail away from lothorien was added.
-Beer in Moria will now always drop from the last group of goblins before the tomb.
-There is now a 10 seconds delay in Balin's Tomb before goblins will spawn,the gate will now be attackable aswell by the goblins.
-Some goblins in Moria now have poison instead of bash.
-Gandalf has a new passive ability called immortality,whenever he dies and has no lifes left he will revive but lose some of his power(levels), it also means its no longer game over if gandalf dies
-When Merry or Pippin gets kindnaped during Amon Hen,their call for help sound will be automaticaly played
-Removed the droppable tomes from enemies before and in Moria.
-The spawn of uruks for frodo and sam near boats at amon hen will begin when the repair ability is used for the first time.
-All except 1 Uruk-hai traps at Amon Hen are now replaced with wooden logs, players will now receive vision of the logs as well.
-Banners from alternative black gate(Sauron) have been removed for now.
-Sauon,Battle trolls,Ents and Treebeard now have a new ability called greater bash, it pulls away the target and stuns it for 2 seconds.
-When Gandalf arrives the battle of helms deep will be over if number of alive uruks is less than 3.

-new voice line for gimli during balins tomb battle
-new heal effect and animation for Sam's (Q) and Frodo's (Q)

-the cd of hobbit's prepare boat skill at amon hen has been changed from 16 seconds to 11, added (no exp or gold) to name of orcs which dont give gold or exp during frodos and sams amon hen, uruk scouts have 5 speed less, the info of tip signs at frodo's and sam's amon heen have been updated, the uruks that spawn on frodo till sam comes are limited they can spawn maximum 5 times. 5 times x 2 uruks = 10 uruks, the starting spots at amon hen for frodo and sam are slightly changed
-sauron has 1k hp less and no longer can dispell summons from merry, eomer and beregond, banner at saurons fight gives now movement speed to orcs and sauron, it no longer slows the fellowship heroes, sauron has also 1 armor less
-night elf race in the lobby is changed to human in order to save some space in the map
-the white raising when gandalf is found is now only shown for players who are watching this cut scene
-cd of the help button has been increased from 7 to 10 seconds, also no longer the text that someone needs help will appear but a buff over the unit who requires help will appear so like that help button is less annoying
-mordor banner at sauron fight has 150 less hp
-changed the boromir's portrait during minas tirith
-tired to make legolas's aiming with volley bit easier idk if its helpful
-functions of the call of aid button are turned off at all the cut scenes till end of amon hen (button still can be clicked but wont work)

-the maximum lvl that frodo and sam can gain at amon hen is lvl 6

-items have less chance to spawn under barlogs feet, or at least should be easier to click
-hopefully fixed the bug with gollum at mount doom, gollum shouldnt leave mount doom anymore on his own.
-fixed the bug where people could avoid a rockfall place in moria by going around it

Minor changes or balance changes
-elendil no longer can slow movement speed of units since volley is able to do it now.
-death king has less hit points if gimli is alive as the only one character
-frodo's rock mode cant be used when sting is active
-uruks have now 40 more hit points

To be perfectly honest, i hate the models used for characters. On this site are models from War of the ring games (by HerrDave) that would fit much better in my opinion, these simply look so much out of place, especially since some characters have movie models and others don't. That may be just my bias since i like the wc3 feel, and have fond memories of playing this map with friends when aragorn was a reskin of arthas, but its just ugly in my opinion.

Wow you are frist guy who says such things xd. No one ever minded models.Are you sure about your opinion? i think custom maps shouldnt remind much of normal wc3 map. I didnt like arthas aragorn which was in 3.5f he even had arthas sword frost.I alreday tested and models from this webside dont suit well game.Its because most of style of models is not warcraft 3 style. Most of lotr models for this map is made in wc3 style.So in games it comes out that they are more fat and have too big heads/ sword/arms than rest of characters. I dont like aragorn you posted because he doesnt remind me movie aragorn at all and i think if i add him to game then his details will be too big like his sword will be same as hobbits body size.Which untis dont have movie models? i thought all does xd. Also remember that there arent many lotr models. For example gimli doesnt have model on the hive workshop he has just his skin oh and also herrdave made gimli recently but it doesnt remind gimli from movie at all.Also keep in mind that aragorn has second model, his bow form.I think both models of aragorn wearing sword and bow should be same else it would be ugly.


I am still working on map but slowly.New version is relased every 45 days.You should put any abbilites idea there or on my discord.Will be hard for me to fix grammar since english isnt my native languange.So it would be nice to get help from someone whos perfect at english or is native speaker.I think new ver will be rework of frodo and sam game.I also plan to make there a system of mini games, like canned bread or uther party.I wanna bring there something else than just killing orcs and healing yourself.I have been thinking to rework dead marshes and make it so hobbits have to avoid ghosts which are pattroling way

Where do you get lags? I suposse major battles like helms deep, isengard, osghiliat? It might be kinda hard to fix i could make a bit smaller amount of enemy units and buff them to balance it out. But enemies cant be too stronk else i have to buff heroes and it will lead to rebalance of whole game.And also i noticed i have light lags at major battles like i just mentioned

Could you review now this map?

  1. Frodo's Sting Stab has a passive looking icon. You can make it look active with this: Button Manager v1.8.2 Same with Merry's Eat Bacon and other spells.
  2. Spell icon positioning isn't like in the learn menu. Merry's Elven Knives goes right after Eat Bacon instead of on the spot after that. Frodo's Evasion is passive and has an active icon.
  3. Some abilities don't have a proper description in the learn menu (no values etc.). Sting Stab doesn't mention any values even after learning it. Learn about descriptions:
    Tooltip Tutorial
    Creating Good Descriptions
  4. Boromir's Wrath has the Berserker buff. You should edit it adequately.
  5. Mostly Warcraft III spells.
  6. Gandalf's Staff says you can click on it but nothing happens.
  7. Gandalf's Extra Heal has no description.
  8. Pathing blockers are required in many places as the heroes can get through doodads and trees. Check for pathing pressing P or selecting it in the menu bar's View tab.
  9. Bridges should be properly placed raising/lowering them with CTRL+PAGE UP/PAGE DOWN.
  10. Some parts of the map look unnatural, cluttered like a maze. Also, linearity.
  11. Could have made a minor blizzard to hurt the players when reaching the avalanche. Actually, never mind, afterwards there is plenty of pain.
  12. The goblin traps give Unholy Aura buffs on the player heroes.
  13. Visibility in the mines is eye damaging.
  14. Units selected during cinematic mode.
  15. You could add hero glow to heroes if you want: How to add Hero Glow without Modeling
  16. Maybe less Warcraft III items.
  17. Are you supposed to see Gandalf the White and Theoden on the map if they are inactive? Merry and Pippin remain paused along with some orcs. The starting zone should be under fog of war too.
  18. Smeagol's description is that of the Ghoul, even the icon.
  19. Faramir says follow his men but he stays there with the men and suddenly appears somewhere else when you get farther.
  20. The problem with the game is that it renders some players temporarily inactive. Shouldn't someone play with Faramir?
  21. During the Faramir fight with the orcs, the enemy appears out of thin air and might suddenly surround you.
  22. What after max level?
  23. Melee heroes like Frodo can attack the flying Nazgul.
  24. Suddenly, the Witch King killed Faramir.
  25. Reaching Eomer, the whole map was discovered for a while instead of a cinematic scene or transmission. Same with Gandalf the White.
  26. There's a neutral Gandalf the White too where Merry and Pippin are.
  27. When Merry and Pippin come close to the neutral Gandalf the White, nothing happens. Same with Treebeard. Same with meeting Theoden.
  28. Some enemies will remain on the way to Helm's Deep instead of getting inside.
  29. Much of the fortress is floating in the air because of improperly being placed on the terrain.
  30. Transitions are brutal. You many times don't know when an event ends and another starts. Maybe because I played it solo?
  31. Theoden can get past the rocks invulnerable and meet the other Theoden shouting at the riders.
  32. Mumakill have a small selection circle.
  33. Reaching the Mouth of Sauron, the allied army is one on top of the other.
  34. The Water of Isengard should have the Locust ability so you would not be able to select it.

Good ideas which need polishing.

Please credit everything in the map thread description, sounds, music etc. from where they were taken from.

  1. Frodo's Sting Stab has a passive looking icon. You can make it look active with this: Button Manager v1.8.2 Same with Merry's Eat Bacon and other spells.
  2. Spell icon positioning isn't like in the learn menu. Merry's Elven Knives goes right after Eat Bacon instead of on the spot after that. Frodo's Evasion is passive and has an active icon.
  3. Some abilities don't have a proper description in the learn menu (no values etc.). Sting Stab doesn't mention any values even after learning it. Learn about descriptions:
    Tooltip Tutorial
    Creating Good Descriptions
  4. Boromir's Wrath has the Berserker buff. You should edit it adequately.
  5. Mostly Warcraft III spells.
  6. Gandalf's Staff says you can click on it but nothing happens.
  7. Gandalf's Extra Heal has no description.
  8. Pathing blockers are required in many places as the heroes can get through doodads and trees. Check for pathing pressing P or selecting it in the menu bar's View tab.
  9. Bridges should be properly placed raising/lowering them with CTRL+PAGE UP/PAGE DOWN.
  10. Some parts of the map look unnatural, cluttered like a maze. Also, linearity.
  11. Could have made a minor blizzard to hurt the players when reaching the avalanche. Actually, never mind, afterwards there is plenty of pain.
  12. The goblin traps give Unholy Aura buffs on the player heroes.
  13. Visibility in the mines is eye damaging.
  14. Units selected during cinematic mode.
  15. You could add hero glow to heroes if you want: How to add Hero Glow without Modeling
  16. Maybe less Warcraft III items.
  17. Are you supposed to see Gandalf the White and Theoden on the map if they are inactive? Merry and Pippin remain paused along with some orcs. The starting zone should be under fog of war too.
  18. Smeagol's description is that of the Ghoul, even the icon.
  19. Faramir says follow his men but he stays there with the men and suddenly appears somewhere else when you get farther.
  20. The problem with the game is that it renders some players temporarily inactive. Shouldn't someone play with Faramir?
  21. During the Faramir fight with the orcs, the enemy appears out of thin air and might suddenly surround you.
  22. What after max level?
  23. Melee heroes like Frodo can attack the flying Nazgul.
  24. Suddenly, the Witch King killed Faramir.
  25. Reaching Eomer, the whole map was discovered for a while instead of a cinematic scene or transmission. Same with Gandalf the White.
  26. There's a neutral Gandalf the White too where Merry and Pippin are.
  27. When Merry and Pippin come close to the neutral Gandalf the White, nothing happens. Same with Treebeard. Same with meeting Theoden.
  28. Some enemies will remain on the way to Helm's Deep instead of getting inside.
  29. Much of the fortress is floating in the air because of improperly being placed on the terrain.
  30. Transitions are brutal. You many times don't know when an event ends and another starts. Maybe because I played it solo?
  31. Theoden can get past the rocks invulnerable and meet the other Theoden shouting at the riders.
  32. Mumakill have a small selection circle.
  33. Reaching the Mouth of Sauron, the allied army is one on top of the other.
  34. The Water of Isengard should have the Locust ability so you would not be able to select it.

Good ideas which need polishing.

What do u excatly mean visiblity in Mines is Eye dagming ? Does Ur Eye hurt lol ? Or u mean u cant see much and that's it. I asked people they dont say that their eyes hurts

Played this map earlier this evening with some friends. We kept losing right at the start. I think the only way to win is to have Sam keep feeding the horse for that 45 AOE mana boost ha-ha.

Why did you leave discord i think i remember you from my discord. I dont understant behaviour like this. I understant map is repetitive but people stay in community for a while then leave. Instead of supporting developer mentaly and giving ideas suggestions helping at beta test. So i can think that its worth to keep editing this. I met many people who were with me at start of editing this map and they say that they enjoy my currently version. Well it means they except better map. But perfect map isnt made insta it needs time too.




Anyway i returning to your question people wanted mana regen so i wanted some creative way than brillance aura. If bill dies u can still go futher but u have to wait for mana regen manualy. And sam doesnt really lose much or anything for keeping pony alive. First of he starts with 25 more gold and gets lembas reward if he keeps pony alive. Lembas is worth 60 gold so sam gets 60 gold lembas worth + starts with 25 gold more . Sam

I am 100% sure I have not joined your discord before. I doubt leaving has anything to do with the map being repetitive. Since everyone has the power to make a discord channel, I suspect people join too many, and then have too much information feed, and as a result leave many of them when they realize they don't want so much information. Discord almost functions as a social media nowadays--- too much of it will drive people crazy.

I love this map:) great additions like Sauron as boss fight if Frodo and Sam are dead and possiblility to save Boromir making me want to play this map even more to see all options

I was thinking of more story changed but i think it cant over use lore. I mean alternate event has to be a event that was likley to happen or could happen. What about possiblity to go via charadrass? Then gray gandalf is alive and barlog doesnt die. I heard from lore master that barlog had to die cuz he was dangerous

Can we somehow get an big DIFFICULY REDUCTION????

It's way too hard. Games are not beatable. It's been the same with all these LOTR games. More Lives, or more acquireable Lives.

Believe me you dont want it easier, this game was too easy when i started editing this and no one wanted to play this they said its too boring and too easy, and no point to play if u won it alrdy.

Theres thick line beetwen too ez and too hard

This game isnt hard, its just based on map knowledge and thats bad. I wasnt much experienced so i made mistake

And this game is still very ez it just requires knowledge what to do i have had groups that won without any char dying

I will make story mode thats unloseable but it will have drawbacks xd i Wonder if it still will be fun for ppl if they will know they cant lose so they dont need to put any effort

If i make whole game easier then again i will hear ppl beggimg me to make it harder, just like it hapenned before

I remember making public beta test version, i gave every character 15 lifes to make sure we are able to test all bugs till end and still gimli managed to die at amon hen, he used all lifes so it also proves skill of ppl xd

Very interesting map. Hope someone picks you to help making a LoTR game even though there are many of them.

yes there are many but most of are outdated. sadly no one wants and is able to help me. editing such map is responsiblity and u have to be determined, i should also trust person who i share map with. i have few close friends who i play this map with but no one of them wants or can edit. i had some people before who edited map but they surrendered after a while.








anyway i need someone to do simply model editing such as replacing skin if anyone is reading this and can help me let me know

I have started the map in single player and here are some minor things I have noticed:
  • It is more like a series of Minigames than an RPG in my opinion. You have to solve the same small minigames whenever you play the map. I myself prefer plain fighting than solving minigames.
  • Isn't it called "Flame of Anor"?
  • You can't skip the small video sequences.
  • I would have loved to see Saruman when he stopped us the the mountain.
  • Too bad you have to start at Rivendell (due to the Fellowship). I would have loved to play events like the fight between Saruman and Gandalf or Aragorn vs Nazgul.
  • The traps and Tentacles which even spawned in Lorien were a bit annoying.
  • Do the heroes have custom soundsets? I could only hear Legolas but maybe my sound is broken.
  • Why is the map protected?
  • You could add a Let's Play video to the map description here on Hive, so people see the gameplay.
  • When I play the map alone, I play Frodo and Sam in the end. I guess this is done so I do not have to play the other storylines? If I chose Gandalf or Aragorn would I have played other storylines?
  • Why are Merry and Pippin still standing around when I play alone?
  • Why is Gandalf avoiding the Balrog forever when I play alone?
  • You could remove Merry, Pippin and Gandalf in single player?
  • Gandalf's light seems really small in Moria and tha traps are annoying as fuck.
  • For me some things seemed really hard, are you sure that new players can finish the map? What happens if a player dies? Is he dead forever?
  • I guess the hardest thing is to find 8 other people who want to play this map for a long time.
  • Why name some trolls on the loading screen? I would just remove their names. Do not feed the trolls.
  • Spelling mistake in the map description "charakter".

Hello! I frequently play this map on battlenet and id like to add some counter arguments to your post. First though i would like to note that this is NOT A SINGLE PLAYER GAME. When creating this map that was never the intention of the developer. This is meant to be played with 9 total people.

-The majority of the game is RPG with a few minigames in the mix to add a change-of-pace from the auto attacking nature of the gamemode. I love the dodging of spells and traps, and because they are so dangerous it adds a real sense of peril.
-Yes, Gandalf's quote is the "Flame of Arnor" the dev isnt native english speaker, most of these errors get changed over time as they are spotted. If the error is still there, then the dev will probably change it based on these comments.
-You cannot skip video sequences because this is meant to play with 9 people. If one person can skip it would mean skipping for all, making some people miss out of the cutscenes forever, because veteran plaeyrs would always want to skip. The cutscenes often move the characters around the map during, would break the game.
-Sarumon is in the game, if you play through as anyone but sam and frodo you will fight him.
-traps and tentacles of the watcher are mechanics for the fights and areas. they can be annoying, but not as much if youre only playing one character...
-map protected so you cannot edit it and try to claim as your own
-frodo/sam are red/blue, like i said earlier this takes 9 players, and your location in the lobby determines who you are. the character names are at the top where the team name is "Fr/Sa/Mer/Bor" etc
-again, play teal or yellow and you run through as those characters
-gandalfs light is meant to help guide you through, there is also a torch that spawns in the tomb that gives light to another character. If youre not controlling all of them its easy to manage through the darkness.
-new players often fail this map, but as long as you ask your GROUP what to expect next and what skill choices to make, its not too difficult for someone who has played a moderate amount of wc3.
-The discord for this map has a game tracker and quite a few active players who will jump in lobby when prompted. I'm one of them :D
-Discord has a full banlist for people who purposefully ruin the map, this is very frequent for this style of map, because people know how important each character is early on. People are petty, what else can ya say about it? yknow? Having the list certainly has certainly helped me.
-again, not native english speaking dev

Most of the problems you have boil down to not having a full group, and the dev not speaking amazing english. I love the map, obviously.

I thought that Saruman is in the game I was just talking about the sequence at the Caradhras where I would have love to see him casting spell. It's just a minor thing.

The tentacles are just weird when they appeared even in Lorien. I understand they are ment as traps but I was just wondering why the Watcher would spawn them inside of Moria. That makes no sense to me.

Map protection is a personal decision. I am not sure who the original author of this map was anyway.

I know that the map is ment to be played with a group of 9 players. Now I know I should have chosen other characters to see the other storylines. I will probably have to play it with a group to see how it really works etc. but I like maps which require not knowing what happens next and completing it anyway. Otherwise, you have know chance if you play with a group of new players. At least there are hints in the map to solve the minigames but I did only play it with cheats and it seems rather hard at some points. So maybe a complete noob mode would help for people who just want to have fun playing the map and not get frustrated.

I didn't see much of a free RPG part for the storyline for Sam and Frodo. Most of it were Minigames with a few fights but that's okay as long as it is clear from the start. Maybe I expected more of an Open RPG instead.

Another minor thing was the camera distance at Moria when running over the bridge, the characters were really close to the camera. I know you can change it and increase the distance but you have to do this manually before.

I am not talking the map down but pointing out stuff which is for someone who has no idea what the map is about and how it is played. This is ment as some input to improve the map. I really like the map's design etc.

I get where you're coming from, if you were expecting an open RPG then this isnt the game you were looking for i suppose. This game follows the storyline for the three movies/books and so far only has one optional sidequest. If ara lego and gim want to, on default difficulty or higher can do a sidequest to save boromirs life at amon hen, allowing him to survive to the black gate (or sauron) at the end. Something you mgiht not have noticed, if sam and frodo both die the final battle at the black gate gets changed to a fight against sauron himself. I suggest checking it out if you give the map another shot.
As for sarumon at cadadhras, technically he was like a hundred miles away when he cast that spell if you go off the movie. However, Emil plans to add an optional path for frodo to choose "we will go through the mines" or "we will take the path of caradhras" later. Maybe we will see him then.
And yeah, the camera is certainly best if you set it to -zoom 2500 for most of the map. It might seem unnecessary at first but when you get to helms deeps you will find that camera distance is absolutely something youre going to want to have control over.

the tentacle spawn in moria was a bug at the time and has been fixed with the newest version. I personally never saw the bug happen even though i played this version a dozen times or more.

The map is indeed pretty unforgiving for new players, takes some prior knowledge to do VERY well, but its certainly possible to finish the game your first time. There was a new mode added fairly recently too, "very easy" mode, in this there are checkpoints that you will revive at if you are out of lives and die. Our discord has guides and tips up for new players too. We also do monthly challenges like "clear isengard without an ents dying on hard mode" and "save haldir at helms deep". There is a little more to the map than just what you get when you download it. If you enjoy it you should consider joining the discord, youll find the link in the map description.

i think most of stuff were answered alreday. ok so its point of first timer i get ur opinion. hmm there are first timers who say that doodge games are stupid and the one who press alt+F4 before moria because they cannot stand how long and boring is killing x5 groups of enemies auto attacking and healing. i think the game needs also diversity its limited by the story line an one cannot simply all the time heal himself and kill 1 orc and so on it is too easy and obring.


if there are any better idea for frodo game after amon hen so be it. old version of frodo game was just straight pacht picking up tome and killing 1 by 1 orcs. hostnley movie doesnt show much they were lost in the mountains, fighting gollum, hidding from nazgul, hobbits werent real warriors,

imagine not protecting popular map xd if i didnt do it i wouldnt be updating it anymore because a lot of ppl would have stolen my map


this game isnt really hard, people do really a lot of stupid mistakes, the blame is not fully on the map i was playing and observating a lot of.
mistakes done by ppl:
-not lvling heal
-not using heal
-letting theirselfes be targeted by 20 enemies even tho they can move back

also the bug with arms spawning at lothorien happens only if you instantly kill the head using whosyourdaddy code, you should wait at least 30 seconds otherwise the trigger that spawns arms wont be turned off and theywill be spawning for all game, i doubt cut scenes need any skipping because they are REALLY dynamic, the longest cut scene is 2 min? most of them last about minute or even less. i saw LOTR map with worse cut scenes that were remake of movie and lasted 5 min xd.
