Supernova Version 0.03

SUPERNOVA

Prepare to fly through the skies as you challange this arcade-styled wc3-map in an endless competition for high score! Team up with your friends and make it even further, but beware, the map lags alot unless you play on LAN!
In the supernova you will fight series of bullet, flying in beautiful patterns, as you try to dodge them with your helicopter, only the fastest will be able to reach the stars amongst highscores!


Basicly, in this game you will get a helicopter!
Steer it around and dodge all missiles that even dares to come close!

You have to "Bomb" abillities that ca be utilized to avoid certain death, each costs one mana.
You can get an aditional mana point by picking up a bomb-powerup that spawns at some levels.

Bomb: Shield
This will protect you from any damage for eight seconds! You automaticly gain a shield when you respawn!

Instantly destroys ALL missiles on the current screen!


IN-DEPTH GAMEPLAY
When started, you will see a single, un-movable screen. You will also get a helicopter that you can, as stated above, move around. Once the first timer goes off, the first level will start. Each level lasts 20 seconds, and are randomly chosen, the difficulti does not increase in that fashion. When you're hit by a missile, they fly in different patterns depending on the level, you will die. If all players are dead at once, you lose, and the game will be restarted. It takes some time to revive, this time increases for each level and for each time you die.

You gain score every second, and the score increases by 20% each level.

[-] Well it is entitled as supernova, but what are those green lava tiles doing on the side of the map? can't you at least extend the whole black space all over your map to make it look good? well its just a suggestion, if your willing to give it a try? nice job by the way.

Hello,

Extremely original idea, i love it, played it for a couple of minutes and now off to play it some more, it kinda gets on your nerves when you loose but that's what just makes you want to play it more.:p 6/5

Edit: found one small bug, when the game restarts, and it shows the "game restarted" in the game, it shows "game res" in the black space and "tarted" on the other side of screen

Ah, thats probably because we have different screen sizes, I use spaces and empty game messages to place it on the middle of the screen.

No way to fix if I want it there, soz.
Do you think I should change it so that the text messages are displayed where text messages usually are... I'm not really sure myself, I think It's a cool feature...

This game is very original and is fun to play, but here are some things I found while testing:

-Phoenix waves seems to be extremelly difficult to avoid, they should move slower or have a bigger effect before they come
-The spiral part is also very difficult, I think If it wasn't because of the spells I would have died always
-You could start the game with less missiles coming and than increase the difficulty over time, instead of putting many right away
-The restart sound became quite annoying after some deaths, you could enable a command to deactivate it
-When it says game restarted, it isn't correctly centered at the screen, you could use floating texts instead of messages
-The area could be expanded a bit into the sides, or allow a mode to decide the size of the area
-A +1 life powerup could be added, so when you die you respawn after a few seconds with the shield buff for like 3 seconds, it would decrease the need of waiting to restart everytime you die
-You could add a "safezone" spell, that creates an area so other players arent damaged while on it for a small duration
-An homing missile level, a few missiles coming after you slowly would be nice
-A pause all projectiles spell maybe?

Why is this Pending?? Its really good, just Approve of it ! I WANT MORE UPDATES AND STAGE :D

I'm working on another project with a friend of mine, but I made a system that enables you to fight bosses instead of completely random stages.
I think it would get much better reviews then, because since the ancient atari consoles, nobody really cares about score, they just want to beat the game.

I just need to make more patterns, and a save system (so you can save at any boss, enabling you to challange that boss again).

We'll see if it sees the light of day.

i sometimes got annoyed when i chase the power-up box lol, i sacrificed a lot and it goes "BLINK" when i came near it and i ARGHHHHHHHHHH..!!

btw..did you play Touhou?

I never actually PLAYED touhou, however, I'm vey facinated by the concept.
The patterns are so beautiful.

It's because he made it alot of time ago ;o, i am sure he could make it leak free now

tons of leaks. when the projectiles appeared our fps went down to 10 or something and we had around 60 before. D:

It is leakfree. I'm pretty sure you didn't play it on LAN. In order to move the missiles, I need to perform a "every 0.04 seconds, move all missiles" trigger.
Unless you play on LAN, that makes alot of lag.

I thought about updating it with more levels and bugfixes to approve it, but for some stupid reason I protected it, and I no longer have the unprotected version :/


But well, It's not impossible that I missed a leak or two, this was a long time ago.
