A very simple effect. Might have some uses for anime style maps.
well, I wonder which are the others
Good point, its unique here as they're elsewhere like chaosrealm. Not sure why this went straight to substandard this time as its well done and from searching a bit looks like the first unless I forgot something since searching through hive's database isn't easy anymore.

yeah, some models here get underappreciated.

Thanks.

Well, if you would put in more effort into your resources then the rating could be higher.
But as you have told me many times before, you don't want to improve on your work and most of your resources are 'perfect' as they are.

Besides, I doubt that you made that texture yourself.
So please, get off your high horse, put in the work and stop being such a hassle to work with.

I did not state that all my resources are perfect. I said that about one (the pacman), that looks perfect.
I do improve with the optimizations dont I. And i do updates to the models.

Putting in less than the minimum amount of work is not effort, it is a must and seeing that you even have trouble with that...
I don't applaud something that is less then mediocre or even lower than substandard, I am sorry.

This reminds me of the past where sometimes a model is indeed done but then one of the hive staff wants it re-done their way and when that conflicts with the author a mess follows, if custom maps/mods didn't exist and wc3 was only melee/edited-melee then some rules would be crystal clear as well.

If the texture was found free for use it should be no different then one using in-game textures?

Sure, but stan really has shown in the past that he cannot even provide proof that it is a free texture, give the source of it or just credit the source. That should be a must and yet he doesn't do it.

He's clearly putting in the effort and work after enduring stuff like this, though he does have some stuff he should fix on other submitted resources. I am wondering what was wrong with this one besides the lack of information on that texture?

I stated so in my review. It's simple and useful. It's not a bad thing. That's it.

If stan decides to improve it and by all means.

Does this mean you can point out some approved resources this would have been under, taking one of those prized limited spots of approval? Hard to know what needs improving in a situation like this one so an example would be great.

I can't do that directly . As models are evaluated on a case by case base and should never be compared to others.
I try to see the models 'embedded' with regular wc3 effects and models, like auras and other effects. This model is less visually great than in-game.
Sorry, I cannot say more.

I don't see how a piece of artwork being "simple" is grounds to give it a poor review. Evaluating models, or any art for that matter, purely on the grounds of demonstrating technical ability or complexity is toxic and leads to a bunch of models with no soul.

On the technical side, this is relatively the best super saiyan aura on wc3. I think auras ought to be simple or else the map can become visually overwhelming.
On the artistic side, I am attracted to this piece of work. It's elegant and not over-done. Scrolling through new models the jagged yellow spikes instantly evoke memories of Dragonball Z, and I'm drawn to open this page. I can almost hear the buzz of the glow like in the anime. Heroes struggling for their life to defend Earth from unbelievably strong villains, desperation, redemption, vindication, love, loss, good/evil, hope, life lessons, experience, transcendence, training to become something more, success, inspiration all wash over my mind from this simple model.
