Stronghold Remastered

Foreword:

The Original Stronghold TD is well known and quite funny to play, but it is also quite outdated. So I went up and polished this Version alot to make it pleasant to play.

Instruction:

So what's new you're asking?

You can now choose different Modes, there are currently 11+(1) Modes, each Mode will change your Gameplay and you need to adapt.

  1. Fast Mode The Income Timer is 50% faster than usual.
  2. Hard Mode Increased Unit Healthpoints by 50%.
  3. Team Mode Everyone in the same Team shares the same Income.
  4. Wave Mode Endless Wave of Units.
  5. Defend Mode Built Towers have 50% less Damage.
  6. Special Mode Everyone has the Support Builder.
  7. Slow Mode Starting with 50 Income instead of 100.
  8. Free Mode Headquarters are upgraded to the Maximum.
  9. Gamble Mode Income Timer is randomized.
  10. Undead Mode Revives killed Units one more time.
  11. Boss Mode Every minute 2 Bosses will spawn.
  12. Random Mode Randomly selects Modes.
*You can combine each Mode!

The second addition is following, the 4th Player from the Team has an unique Builder
This Builder is called ''Support Builder'' he can build supportive Towers to help his Team.

Those new Towers are called Auras, there are 4 different Aura-Types to assist your Team!
  • Damage-Aura Increases Damage by X% for every nearby Tower.
  • Speed-Aura Increases Attackrate by X% for every nearby Tower.
  • Frost-Aura Slows nearby enemies by X%.
  • Lethality-Aura Reduces nearby enemies Armor by X%.

Gameplay:


As the Offensive Builder you need to build Towers and Upgrade them. You shouldn't mass Towers but upgrade them! As you kill Units you gain Gold in which you can invest in Upgrading the Towers, Upgrading the Headquarter or sending Units![/COLOR]


As the Support Builder you need to concentrate on sending Units and upgrading your Headquarter in order to send stronger Units. Don't forget to place your Auras to assist your Team! Tip: Place your Auras in the squares!

You'll get 5% Bonus Gold on each kill your Team did if the Unit was affected by the Aura.[/COLOR]


Every 10s you will gain Income, the Income is based on how many Units you sent or how high your Headquarter is upgraded. In order to Increase your Income you need to send Units or upgrade your Headquarter![/COLOR]

Additions:

Added alot of useful Commands.
  • -cam '1500-2500' Adjust your Camera
  • -take 'ID' Take leftover Towers from Team-Mates that died or left the Game.
  • -claim Claim your Land so nobody can build on your Land. Prefixed Land.
  • -votekick 'ID' or 'Playername' Request a Votekick against a Team-Member
  • -agree Agree to Vote for the Kick. 2 Votes needed to kick the Member!
  • -zone Protect your Aura Zones as Support
Terrain looks much smoother, especially in the Middle Region.

This is my first serious Map & I never posted on HiveWorkShop, I hope the formats are correct..

Review:

- tested hotkeys, working (forgot to test the wave unit hotkerys),
- tested all towers, working, tested upgrades (not all because of wood lacking).
-tested diferent games working.
-tested balance, is excellent balanced.
There was a moment when I was having a lot of the ultimate illidan tower, and killing the last wave a lot and, thinking this is never ending,
but since you can upgrade the wave + 2% health it seems infinite so, when 1 of them reached my townhall, destroyed in 1 hit and lost,
so is perfect.
-great layout.
-great you can play team or solo against the waves to practice or whatever.

the last wave the kid, it remembers me the last waves of the elemental tower td. nice touch.

this is 5/5 TD

map is perfect
but I have to be fair and spot what I think is a critical bug:

At the very begining, you have 7 secs (I chrono it) to choose 8 different combinations (because you can choose the 8 or combine some) of game modes:


1- free upgrades aka free mode
2- special builder
3- half gold
4- fast mode (more gold)
5- hard mode (more HP per creep)
6- wave mode (never ending waves from start)
7- defense mode (less attack of towers)
8- team mode (= gold to the team)

So if you want to select 3-4 of this mods, you have very few time to choose. I had to restart many times because I couldnt choose the combination of the 3-4 modes I wanted

So I think you should:

- design an icon that says start game, so players can think and choose modes with time and not rushing.
- or increase the time like to 30-40 secs so you have time to read the 8 icons, think and select them

IMO, only because of this it should be set to awaiting update.

but is not to me to decide fortunatly, it recalls in a proper map reviewer that may decide if approve it at once, or set the awaiting update until the time to select modes is improved

  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

I updated the Map with some fixes and extended the Timer for choosing Modes by pausing it for 5 seconds if a Mode was choosen before it continues to expire.
This was the best solution IMO. cuz a +30s Timer would ruin the fun at the start! And it's also a fast paced Tower Defense, which makes sense to start fast.
I'm really glad you like this Remastered Version of Stronghold! If you have any Ideas how to improve this Version, let me know! Especially for new Modes.

I have to say that I saw this Stronghold v3.4 - Warcraft 3 Maps - Epic War.com and I said wow totally different

but just now find this: Stronghold v3.13 3teams - Warcraft 3 Maps - Epic War.com
and said I should have tested this for the review and compare.

First the wave mode allows to play alone even if this is a multiplayer map, thats a lot.

second in this version when you train units to send the enemy,
a- if there is no enemy no spawn
b- if 1 enemy, both units spawns in the same direction
c-if 2 enemies, both units spawn 1 to the west and the other to the east.

while in the old version I see that
if there is one enemy, when train the peons, 1 unit goes to the enemy and the other goes to the empty place with no enemies

so thats is another improve of this submition
