STARCRAFT RPG SOLO 2.5d

VERSION 2.5 BETA 1.00 SOLO

GAMEPLAY : RPG-melee.

The capital city has sent you to a small peripheral colony in order to help the people and evaluate the situation. The city can't send more troops before knowing whether the situation is hopeless or not. You must help Captain Yan Canta and federate the resistance of the colonies into the region.

Choose a Heroe, protect the colony against Zergs, create an army and counter attack ! The zergs will suffer !

Marine Assault is a campaign map, first destinated to solo playing. The difficulty depends on the number of player, so you can play alone, with a friend or 2. The difficulty decreases if a player leaves.

About the 2.5, i listened all comments and think about it and i modified the gameplay, add a lot of alternate missions, secret places, liberty on the map, more easy item, a different ressource system, something to make the hero more resistant at start, a better ambiance etc...

As opposed to beating around the bush, I'll just come straight out with it; even though your map has good models, it doesn't deter us from the masses and masses of downsides that you've managed to spew out at every possible moment in time.

For example; the aforementioned English problem. Although your credits claim that people have 'proof-read' it, the map still manages to have several thousand errors on both the Grammar and Spelling side of things.

You've then got the Quest Issue, we have no idea what's going on most of the time. A prime example is the second Quest, instead of the Overlord getting killed by the 'Ravage' weapon, it flew off and returned to a Hatchery. That coupled with the fact the explanation was on par to that of a dead fishes on the meaning of life, and you've got one very confusing game.

However, I wouldn't be a critic if I'd only said bad things about this map -- however hard the good things are to find. The balance didn't seem to be an issue and nor did the models. I can only hope that the storyline, and the quality of your writing, increases with time and this map may actually become half-decent.

Really nice map, good job on creating this!

+ Nice Models (like the buildings you can walk on)
+ Nice Effects (like the drops)
+ Good rank-system (Veteran / soldier /...)

- Not much variation (you always have to kill the zergs who are invading a base, or try to kill the zerg's base)
- Not much different zergs

I didn't find any bug, congratulations ^^

Still, best starcraft map for Warcraft 3 with a twist in my opinion. Suggestions:
1: add some areas to level up.
2: add a bit more destroyed debris while removing some trees.
3: add some warfare sounds (don't have to be imported, original warcraft sounds are good enough if you just find the right ones).
4: extra turrets (really like them!).
5: maybe bunkers which you can drop for your marines (a new "backup").

At around 55 mins game starts to lag, and about at 58 - 60 its imposible to play... (we didnt killed the flying boss yet). It looks like too much units or smt... dunno.

Well, first time we had kinda a lot, but it was ok b4... And when lags started we lost most of them, but lags only got worse.

Pretty neat map, with pretty neat models.But far too deserted, I mean there are gazzilion of zergs, and one captain defends the whole base, well not a base a command center.That's pretty big - for this map.I have some Ideas on how to work on your map, such as.When you are taking over the base, you can gradually add more functions to it.For example, when you retake airport, you can make some people spawn to run it, and make dropships drop reinforcements.When they spawn you can add some optional missions like if you choose pilot captain, you get to drive special planes like wraiths, or battleships, or some other, I never played Starcraft so I don't know all the units.Or if you are an assault captain, you get to clear areas for dropships to rescue civilians, or some pinned down forces.If you are a ghost you get to designate targets for bombing, or an engineer could get missions to transport some goods via dropships, or repair planes.

When you capture the refinery you could get special missions too, like if you are a marine, secure areas for getting resources through, or if you are a engineer, you get tasks like repairing some structures, or searching for gas when refinery runs out of it.Engineers could aslo man siege tanks, and go on destroying enemy fortifications, or masses of enemy units, maybe add some other land whenciles too.

Also the base is pretty much barren if you don't get bunch of reinforcements that is.So maybe you could do things like adding bunkers, towers, and soldiers that would guard it.Also if these soldiers or structures get damaged or destroyed, they respawn again after some time.

Also siege tanks are a tad too numerous, and weak, so maybe make them more powerful, and get some defence bonus in siege mode in addition to range and damage.If you can add some more whenciles so that if you are an engineer you man and control them, or if not they go with you and you assault things together, except if you are a ghost.Ultralisks should also be rarer, and maybe you can add some other zerg units.

Marines are well represented, as well as medics, but there's a lack of firebats, reapers and ghosts, or some more I don't know others.

Assaults on your base are far too often and powerful.So i suggest you make few troops assault the enemy zerg bases(yes zergs should have bases, and one main, big base)And in the opposite direction, but when a strong assault comes you are informed, and given quest to defend the base, but these are special events that are given at certain times.

In the end you can have for terran either destroy enemy base, but anounce the coming of big zerg reinforcements.Or there is no ending, and the bases still stand, or make it so that terrans fail, but that requires reconquista map.

Well, those are the ideas on how to improve your map, I hope you consider some of them.

I don't know if he focuses too much on models, but WOW! This is a killer campaign/map. I must admit this is probably the best Marine/Futuristic RPG Map I've ever seen. If you play this map you won't understand what is going on. However, if you play the campaign you will know. I haven't seen maps in which the terrain is such (not seen on this map, quoting mission 1 of the cpg), so massively changed. You can see some chasms, all thanks to the very high elevations of other areas, the relief is made excellent for another planet.

I cannot say I am fond of the look of some units, while your vehicles, especially your buildings looks amazing. The items and other doodads are awesome models as well. You have included a very well made interface that fits the campaign, sound effects, loading screens (mission plans) for all the maps. You have completely changed the game, almost to feel like Starcraft 2 with the distinctive background chasms that SC2 has.

I cannot find anything bad in the map&campaign, all is finished and made. I have never seen so complete map, in many detailed maps stuff/interface and others is changed but not as much as here.

While I like French, it's though hard to understand i.e the loading screens&some sounds but you did well by adding the speech as a form of text in English. If I have time, I would play this. Indeed great job! 12/10

Really nice map. Good atmosphere and good models. The abilitys and the items are really good. It hink, Ravage is too good. With level 2 Ravage i killed the tiny hatchery, i think. Also the cooldown for the sentry guns is a bit too hard i´d say.

After one hour, there started laggs. I watched the full replay, and now i know, why. At the northwest, there is a spawn. And the units get stuck. After a short time, there are hundreds and hundreds of zerglings, hydralisks, and ultralisks.

Really a very good map. I like it. 9/10

what trigger are you using to get creeps/units to attack base. I had one that made them attack a invis unit in mid of map (like dota), but after awhile it would get killed (somehow), and then they'ed stock up in base. I fixed this by size the invis target from 1.00 to 0.60, and selection scale from 1.50 to 0.50. I also raised the health from 100 to 500000. If you're using the same trigger, do as I had done and you won't get a problem (unless their getting blocked by other creeps, then you will have to just lower the amount of creeps, or lower their collision size). Hope this helps.
 
Well since it turned solo player why not using all pretty models you made(veteran model gun x2 and Acathla UI for exemple).
The overall gameplay is nice although I'm always ultra busy and chaotic.It's maybe intentional but unpleasant.
Explosive ammo is a nice idea.
And it's sad that some feather has been removed in this version.
Beside that I found some bug.
-The goliath doube hero hp even after goliath's destruction max hp remain as if it's still goliath hp;so if you buy goliath again it double again i did it 5-6 time and managed to have over 1000000 hp this way (very useful bug actualy).
-With sion mao I had his ulti in goliath form and I manage to have an extra skill point having level-up while fire shield activated/disabled.Why not using cooldown instead of disabling the ability with trigger?

It's now solo player but soon multiplayer, so i keep in mind the map weight.
You are always ultra busy ? Hum you can make a big of the time you need between each mission.
The bugs on goliath system has been repaired for the next version, i saw it today ^^
You can take an extra skill point for fire shielf, the level will be correct when the shield is finished.

I have played this map and I must say that review is harsh.But then I am not moderator.
I wanted to ask.Are attacks getting stronger by time or by by completing quests?
It should be by time or people could just wait to get money until they have everything.

Here is the new and final version of the map :)

The only thing that could be improved is the language. I could do something if the main gameplay and bugs eradication are ok.

Do you think i should delete the map and recreate an entry on the database ? Because this version is very very different than the first one i uploaded here.. and the moderator review didn't talk about this version.

I Know i aint a moderator or anything high ranking but i have a few pointers. you can by chance lower the spawn rate such that it will be like a region spawn rather then a whole map spawn and goes all random running about.

the map is super nice i would rate the map and gameplay 5/5 but as for the lag .. That would be a big problem.

Since map weight is your number 1 priority, i would give this rather simple but also removes most of the fun out of the game, take a break off the custom skins, skills and doodads. its great to have customs things i know, but having too much could cause u some problems. Cause its like 1 custom model can take 300kb (MAYBE) but then throughout the game the thing only appears twice .. the point of the skin is just to take up space.

having the extra space you can expand from the inside, like a few quest? new items or add a few player slots.
its one of the best starcraft map out there man .. you did great .. 3/5

Which model ?

No variety of zerg ? Lol ? Zergling+2 type of Hydralisk+Ultralisk+overlord+mutalisk+baneling+scourge ?

I think you played 10% of the map.

Yep .. i did, as in reduce the spawn amount, that comes out for example at the helipad i think .. the last version i played it was overwhelmed with creeps that i couldn't even walk pass without killing all of them ..

and HydraRancher he did say he was going to try and increase the amount of players .. and not everything has to be By the book, corrects models would be nice but thn u have to consider the map size and map weight.

I realy liked the map good work on it cept for a few grammar errors, but one thing annoys me and that is the fact that teh solo ver is far better made then the multiplayer ver! its like your multiplayer ver is a abandonded beta for this >.> could you work on that one too cuz this map scheme is great just lonely ya know?

You talk about the version 1 that it created 2 years ago.

People are wrong, thinking about starcraft world, there is only "Command center" "Barrack" "enginnering bay" etc.. My buildings are not trying to be those buildings !
Can you imagine that there another things that the 6 or 7 buildings in the whole starcraft universe ? .... I put women and kids in my map, so you may say "hey there is no woman except kerrigan and no kid in starcraft !".

i just beat it a lil bit ago and i cant find the F'in ammo crates <.< oh and spelling and grammar errors are kinda annoying lol, also increase the players

Then dont call it Starcraft if you arent using the actual aspects of it :slp:
otherwise its kinda stealing the name of starcraft. Banelings arent in Starcraft. I didnt mean no variety I mean it coulda been a bigger variety. But I guess you do have to consider map size :con:. Also I prefer Killst4r's zerg models. Also I cant pick up ammo crates...... changed rating to 3/5

this one is so much better then the multiplayer one but i just wish that you would enable more then one player in THIS ver cuz in the multiplayer one the content is lacking

Very cool map!! I give it a 5/5...!! I like it mostly because of the good terrain and models! The terraning really caught my attention, which is why I really rate this map highly recommended....Nice balance too...
Don't play this in a laggy computer....it's difficult!

OMG i played thise a bilion times and i cant find the third pipe.... you know the quest where to attack/move to some pipes and they stop burning... i can find 2... south of the base and next to the refinery.. WHERE THE HELL IS THE THIRD

This map is awesome. I must have played it for at least 4 hours today, and I don't think I'm done yet. Although there are some annoying bugs and a couple points that have me saying "wtf am I supposed to be doing," it is still great fun. I am also amazed at how much content you can fit into a map this size.

The only problem I have is the only reason I stopped playing to write this. On the Zerg Lieutenant mission, I cleared out all the eggs, buildings, and Zerg with air strikes and now there's nothing in the 'crater,' but the area is still being pinged red on the minimap and there's nothing left for me to do.

My only request is that you unprotect it. I want models :x

I have never played an RPG on Warcraft 3 without getting up for this long. I can't wait to start over with a different class.
