Review - Snowy Forests
(Version June 2nd 2023)
Synopsis: Snowy Forests is a small two-player melee map with an open layout, giving the matches a fast-paced rhythm. Overall the map is very generic with nothing super special going on.
Map Aesthetics: Aesthetically the map is very vanilla. Nothing extreme is going on. I like the usage of the fences, which gives the map this hand-crafty look, there should be more decorative props placed, however. The placement of props seems like they were placed after everything else, placing a single object here and there, without too much thought given to the process. Having the black edges of the map be so prevalent is not good for the aesthetics.
Map Layout: The map layout is very simple and straightforward, quite classic. The Goblin Merchants are placed a little awkwardly at a dead-end corner of the map, which is quite a bad solution on this map since it takes more time to go there than it takes for your enemy to walk into your base. The expansion sites could be pushed a little more to the corner so they don't aggro onto units passing by. The Starting Locations are not placed at equal distances from the gold mines.
Neutral Objectives: The creeps fit the map thematically and form nice camps. The stronger camps could lose a couple of levels of their total strength, as the map is so small, it might be a good idea to make creeping a little easier (require less investing in it). A couple of creep camps (golems and gnolls) could be better positioned so they are more accessible and similarly, do not take as much investment in terms of routing towards them. The item drops seem to correlate nicely with the strength of the camp apart from the Goblin Merchant and Gold Mine camps - the item drops are too weak, especially the Goblin Merchant camp.
Map Gameplay: Very generic melee gameplay. The small map size and open, direct layout make it very fast-paced. Some of the creep camps have a positioning that makes them not so attractive to fight. The gaps between trees again - you need to fix them.

Recommendations:
Fix the gaps between the trees.
Adjust the item drops / camp strength of the Goblin Merchant and Gold Mines.
I'd also encourage you to ever so gently nudge the Goblin Merchant and Golem camps to make them more accessible.
