Siege of Dunnottar:

attachment.php

In the 12th Century, Edward Baliol, the false king of Scotland, has begun a campaign to exterminate all those who would oppose his rule. Although those that defy him are few, they have gathered under the leadership of Robert the Bruce. The two sides fought viscously, Robert's forces have had to give ground to Edward's superior force. After many battles, Edward has forced Robert the Bruce onto his last bastion of defense, the peninsula fortress of Dunnottar. Robert's defenders are few, and Edward's forces vastly outnumber them, he can already taste his victory. Even more so, perhaps, due to the powers of his pet necromancer at his disposal. Trapped in his fortress, with no relief in sight, Robert the Bruce has called upon four legendary heroes to turn the tide of battle in his favor, but will they be able to stop the onslaught?

Terrain based off of Dunnottar Castle in Scotland.

Seven heroes to choose from, Asmodeus the Frost Daeva, Joboo the Voodoo Priest, Baron Doomtide the Tempest Soul, Magni Frostbeard the legendary dwarven sniper, Bill the Archmage, Chen the Pandaren Wardancer, and Sylvanas Windrunner the Elven Ranger

Special thanks to my family for help with testing before release.

Do not use music, please!
Seriously, I know the limit has been changed to 8MB, but do you really think it means that you can import all kind of crap that has nothing to do with the map because of it?
If you were making a cinematic, or a theme-based map (such as LOTR), then importing music is all right (in cinematics it's recommended, in theme-based maps it won't hurt).
Okay, nightwish wasn't bad (now they are), but it has absolutely nothing to do with a medieval battle.

The description is also pretty bad.
Not only on the hive, but in-game there's nearly no info at all, the hero-choose text is crap: you need to tip off all good/bad points and the abilities in a way that looks great, you've written an entire novel about each hero and copy/pasted that in a game message.
The tooltpis are sometimes a bit confusing, for example: "The baron's health regeneration is increased by as much as X% strength and as little as X-9% Strength"
What does that mean? By how much did the HP regen increase? A random number between X and X-9 or what?

On top of that, there is no indication of when a new event will start, or when the game will be finished, there's also no indication on how the king's doing (in my case he had been killed by units of which I didn't even know they slipped past me. I didn't know the king was under attack).
Clarify that as well.

The items are all a bit too normal, a few stats have been changed and that's it, there are also not really much items to choose from.
The terrain is a bit too normal, I would like to see normal walls instead of blizzard cliffs, since cliffs aren't the same as walls.

In the intro-cinematic, you sometimes jumped underneath the terrain, change your camera angle to fix it.
It also goes a bit too fast and the text wasn't really good: show the text for longer (type in a random huge amount, like 649412 seconds and then use "clear text' before every sentence, that will make it look better).

On the other hand, it's not a bad map: the spells are good, the heroes have been balanced, it's a good team-map and the cinematics weren't really bad for a non-cinematic map.

Approved with a 2/5 rating.

My Review!

(+ = Good : - = Bad)

+Awesome gameplay
+Cool heros
+Custom skins
+All custom abilties
+Able to purchase troops
+Great cinematics
-Items are very pathetic need more custom/combination items
-Defenses dont last long at all should make purchasable barricades
-Tomes are very poor in this need more/better tomes
+Game end (lmao at "yes my most trusted advisor")

Overall ill give you a 3/5 since you can greatly improve on items

Thanks for the review ap0calypse, will see what I can do. I just changed the walls to actual walls instead of cliffs and I really like the new look. I am also working on adding a couple more shops of items, since I have more space thanks to the new walls.

Good review, CHA_Owner. I loved your suggestion about the purchasable barricades, will definitely use that. I am also working on new shops. By the way, what did you think of the music? Is it worth keeping, or should I remove it to cut down on file size?

Thanks for the reviews everyone.

The terrain wasn't so good and same goes for the pathing ,units couldn't move very well and the were just doing circles or going from the longest way instead of going from the short one.At the cinematic we couldn't see anything written that the caracters say (if it was any written) and same happend for the mode. There were 3 blank boxxes to choose the mode without anything inside so i just picked the first one. It's a good map but terrains needs work and some more items will be great. Also u don't say at the begging how to switch between heroes, something that happens via the arrows.

Which version of the map are you running? If you are on something lower than 1.06, try one of the newer versions. If you are on 1.06, then I will see what I can do to fix it.
Personally, I haven't had any trouble with cinematic character speech or with the difficulty selection not showing up, but I'll try it with some other people to see if it's a common problem.
The loading screen informs you to use the arrows to switch between heroes, but I guess that's not very obvious. I will put it in somewhere more noticeable.
I think you are running one of the older versions, because there used to be a problem with the cinematics, but I fixed that a while back, in the second or third version.
I also just updated the terrain in v1.06.

NEW version OWNS. But i found a imba bug-like.If you choose a hero as soon as the panel for heroes come up u just see the hero's stats agi, int, str then u just press the arrows to see the others .When u find the one u like u get 2 heroes.I mean i pressed by mistake the first hero and then i picked the Sniper guy and i got 2 heroes:D.Also adding a skipable intro will be great

Alright, Falke13, I will see what I can do about that hero selection thing, although, if I'm right, it only seems to happen during LAN or battle net, I'll get working on it. Thanks for the suggestions.

EDIT: Okay, I have now added a skip function to the opening cinematic, and fixed the hero selection system.

That's what I thought, I found that glitch once as well, but now I've got it fixed so that when you click on the hero once, you can't move the camera, and the instructions have been changed so that you need to double click to pick a hero, which causes it to run much more smoothly.

Fun maps but tons of bugs ruin the whole things :

-If you don't skip first cinematic the dialog pass and disappear instantly, so you can't choose the difficulty.
-Additionally, you often can't select a hero if you haven't skip the first cinematic.
-Mobs continue to attack even during cinematic.

I highly suggest to REMOVE those cinematic, they just cause too much trouble. Let the speaking and the events so players can watch them, but DON'T enable cinematic feature so that players can continue to play.

I precise that I followed this map for quite some time, but seriously if that issue isn't solved then this map will only be able to be trash because of those major issues.

Thanks for the heads-up, I will make the cinematics watchable, but you can play at the same time, that's simple enough to do.

However, I've never had an issue with not being able to select the difficulty or characters after watching the first cinematic instead of skipping it. Were you playing on Bnet? Just curious, because some of these bugs only happen online and not when I test them offline. Thanks for the help, I'll get right on fixing what you've mentioned.

Sorry about how long it took me to reply, I've been busy this month studying for exams.
