Short Circuit

Description: This map takes micro to the next level, literally.
Use your tiny robots to divert the flow of electrons into the enemy base to win.

(2-8 players recommended)

Tried out, is there only 2 attacking units?

Superconductor cannot work, when I click build it and selects where I want it to be built, my Construct. Droid doesn't repair/build it, it leaves the building alone there with 8 hp

pretty good but maYBE Add a fenzy mode where the electrodes come in short bursts every 10 seconds or something, so it requires speed and quick thinking to do( but build speed is faster) and, plus the generators should be walkthroughable because i ended up blocking myself in with them and got stuck. perhaps an upgrade where constuction bots take less damage from electrodes. the night was hard to see with so if you could try to make it day only. 4/5

Thanks for the review, I'll answer your points:
- "Add a fenzy mode" - I might think about extra game modes at a later date yea
- "the generators should be walkthroughable" - Well, you can always clear yourself a new path, I mostly made all the buildings unwalkable to make building more strategical
- "perhaps an upgrade where constuction bots take less damage from electrodes" - Yea I'll probably add an upgrade center in later versions
- "the night was hard to see with so if you could try to make it day only" - Hurm, its only as dark as regular wc3 nights, its mainly for effect so you get to see all the pretty lights, and make it feel like the powers off

Anyway hope you enjoyed it!

This is so fun! I was playing on my own and I wound up screwing up. I was going to make an almost infinite loop so I can have a constant supply of lumber... it didnt work mostly! Because I didnt finish before I opened the circuit. Dont try and fix that please! Ive seen it where electrons were cut off from a loop to make an infinite loop. I just needed to make it larger so the electrons wont collide and explode. Good thing they did though or else the loop would of sent them straight into my base XD Oh well. I need to rework the design anyways.

Edit: Oh no! The darn things explode if they dont reach a postive thing in time >.< Danget! Now I cant do my infinite loop, it was working fine to.

I've played this map with few pals and i gotta say the idea is awesome.
Few suggestions:
  • I think electrons should last longer than 30 seconds.
  • Units should be weaker and should affect game less. Those destroyers are really strong. It should be more based on changing the electron flow towards enemy base.
  • Insulators should be a bit weaker,or electrons should do more damage because they can sustain too much damage in my opinion.
  • Bases shouldn't be so hard to destroy late game,when i played few games,game just couldn't end because it was too hard to destroy anyone's defenses. Maybe you could make it so that electron explosion damage slightly increases as the game goes.
  • Also maybe decrease electron size a bit,they would look prettier :D
I'm eagerly waiting for updates as the map is really good.

Thanks for the review, glad you had fun.
Most your points seem fair, so I'll evaluate all of them.
Only problem is that you say the bases are too hard to kill late game, and destroyers are overpowered. (The latest game research is the ability to barrage bases from a distance, surely this means you can besiege any base?)

I didn't know it's range (Especially because each of us were getting harrased by electrons,the flow was chaotic so i didn't build them much),but if it's true,then it's kinda overpowered. Also that makes destroyers...too good.
Anyway,i think the most important change is making the electron damage slightly increase over time. If you do that,no need to change Insulators.

The towers have 120 hp while the barrage deals only 100 damage.

You would have to use both destroyers to kill a tower and since they are your strongest unit it is hard to have them both on offense.

Perhaps the towers should get 100 hp or something? :ogre_hurrhurr:

I think units and towers should affect game less. It should be more about controlling electron flow.
Oh and also i find the Chain Lightning missile (which looks similar to current electron) a better model for electron,because of it's death animation,it has nice explosion.

Short Circuit is nicely done mini game created for up to 8 players.
All game info is displayed in form of resources and that look really cool, game interface is really cool and bug free...
Map idea is to find the best location for your mother chip (base) from where will you start to build workers and warrior units to protect your base and destroy others. There are 3 different units (worker/builder unit, warrior unit and siege unit), all use upgrades to learn new skills and improve stats which is really cool and awesome. Resources are gained from power generators and same like buildings...
Even with so many cool things within, there are invulnerable enemies ELECTRONS, units that run all thought motherboard dealing damage to anything on their way, your job is to repair damaged structures, make blockades and try to force electrons to move into enemy base.
Simple and funny!
Map presentation nice, credit list ingame as well, no broken rules!
Triggers are acceptable, leaks are cleaned!

Few suggestions and ideas:
- Add few game modes/difficulties
- Add new custom created cliffs that will look like mother board even more (Request form can help :p).
- Add hero like units :D
I will rate this map with 4/5 recommend mark and set status to approved!

Game modes ideas, Endless power power never stops coming, because of this there is either an upgrade or they are automaticly more resistant to electrons shocking. For example Improved Insulation as an upgrade. Another mode there is no starting inulators, you have to build them in. another is that power does not automaticaly come, you have to build a building that creates electrons in a direction every X seconds (speed can be increased or decreased the higher its upgrade level is)

For special units and buildings... maybe one of them makes electrons bounce back or have an ability too. Also another to prolong nearby electrons lifespan or more damage when they explode. You could also add a building that hold electrons charge and can release it in one direction (total electrons its holding could be represented as mana)

I have had problems getting this to work. I am using the latest version of Warcraft 3 on mac os 10.5. The map loads fine but when I click on the microchip when it's finished it freezes warcraft 3 the frozen throne.

Yea my friend on mac crashes also.
I reckon it has something to do with my icons I've made.
I'll let you know if I fix it.

i made a plan for a reactor that completely destroys everything inside it by crashing 4 electrons into each other, which is just epic.
