Spring time in this dangerous forest has some perks, gold; treasure; glory, but the only thing standing in your way is the Orc Hordes.

Shorcan Forest is a melee map with custom Orcs/ Skins for creeps that you can also buy.

Shadow Fury: AND FINALLY, after what seemed centuries, this map is approved with a rating of 3/5.
Like any ordinary melee map, you start with your tier 1 main structure and build your base to crush the opposition, However, as you'll venture in the forest, you'll meet.... custom creeps! No more growling dog-faced gnolls, no more howling bone-gnawing wolves and no more slimy murlocs! Forget about these boring creeps, this map has more to offer: orcish creeps!

Aesthetically, the map is pretty and has a lot of tile variation. The doodads are approriate and fitting to the theme, although the overwhelming green colour everywhere could be annoying.

Rich in neutral buildings, the map has expansion gold mines, way gates and fountains, ensuring lots of exciting battles for a long time. Plan your strategy well, for this map will prove to be challenging!

Melees are ONLY Terrain. Nothing else. Prove me wrong if you can. Whatever next, is "Altered" melee, meaning literally "Altered", even a small change in income or food system can be recalled as an Altered Melee, and your change is for Creeps.

Though, a Mod can Decide this :p

The melee nation group has somewhat decided that a melee map is a map which doesn't have drastic changes to blizzard melee gameplay. Custom creeps, mercenaries, doodads, gate systems, tiles etc that aren't extremely game changing are totally acceptable. Any change to the system and races themselves makes it not melee.

For me, an altered melee map must have the common gameplay mechanics changed or offer new races. Modifying creep camps, adding new items or creating more neutral buildings that do not change radically the game (e.g item/unit vendors), do not make a melee map "altered".

It's been a long time since I've last used my reviewing template but here it is again:

TERRAIN

The terrain was quite well done. Tile variation was present in the entire map with the right proportions and without any exaggeration. The landscape was not flat and not unnaturally uneven. The usage of the notoriously ugly Blizzard cliffs could've been avoided by raising the ground instead. A more pleasant result would've been obtained this way so I'd like to recommend doing so if you desire. Tile-wise you did a great job, however doodads-wise you did not. It might be a forest but this is not a plausible reason for using such a large number of trees and such a low number of other doodads because a forest isn't simply made of trees. The vegetation is missing in terms of shrubs, flowers and these stuff so why not adding some of them? Just keep in mind not to overdo with that to avoid getting the "spammy" feeling. Since this forest is inhabitated by orcs, some signs of their presence would be appropriate like orcish banners, forsaken fire camps, remains scorched, skulls... whatever suggests that orcs have been there.

CREEP CAMPS AND ITEM DROPS

This category is an epic disaster due to the introduction of custom creeps. Normally I wouldn't even judge the suitability of the level of the creeps but this time I have to. No really, the dragon rider, a flying creep with 1550 HP and a high attack damage (60-118), is just level 4? That's so scanty and worthless. Even the mighty level 6 Green Drake wouldn't stand a chance against this creep. Are you even aware that the level of a creep is directly proportional to the EXP it gives when killed? Same story goes for the Juggernaut and Witch Doctor. Evidently item drops will be catastrophic and inadequate as well. I expected at least to find items of nearly the same level or of an inferior level of the creep dropping but I found something even more astonishing... random level item drops for all creeps! Do you know what that means? A level 1 creep can drop a damn level 8 item or vice versa! This is extremely unbalanced and unacceptable and direly needs a total overhaul.

LAYOUT OF THE MAP

The map appears to be symmetric and well-balanced. No over-restricted regions were spotted except in the worst places possible... the expansion gold mines. I bet you didn't even try the map yourself in a melee game if you haven't noticed this problem I'm going to state right now. The gold mine in the middle top and the one surrounded by egg sacks are the ones I'm referring to. What's the problem? The problem is that building a Town Hall beside them is impossible. The area is too tiny and since Town Halls can't be built close to gold mines, there isn't sufficient space to build it so how come I will build an expansion base? You must cut off some trees and provide a wider space.

OVERALL RESULT

Eventually, the map is very problematic thus it cannot be approved until all critical issues are fixed. Therefore, the map is set to needs fix.

Just here to give my 2 cents:
IMO a altered melee map is a melee map with anything altered,as the name suggests. If its a new item, creep building or a entire race it doesn't matter. As long as its different from normal melee maps
