Help and Resources

Please refer to the answers below before posting questions.

1. Download the campaign ZIP file onto your computer. (DOWNLOAD button near the top of the page)
2. Unzip the file and extract its contents into "Maps/Download" in your Warcraft 3 folder.

Unzipping files can vary depending on your operating system (Windows, Mac, etc), but it should involve something like this:
1. Right click on .zip file that you want to unzip and click on "Extract All".
2. In the "Extract Compressed (Zipped) Folders" dialog, enter a folder path where you want files to be extracted.Once done, click on "Extract" button to start the extraction.

Once the map files have been extracted into your Warcraft 3 folder, you will be able to play the Scourge Campaign as a Custom Game for each individual map. (Battle-net play is currently being investigated)

How does it work?
Each time you complete a mission, a Hero save code is automatically saved in a text file on both player's computers. At the beginning of the next map, this code can be used to recover your Heroes by doing the following (only one player needs to do this):
a. Minimize the current game (Alt+Tab).
b. Open "CustomMapData\{CHAPTER NAME}.txt" in your Warcraft III folder.
c. Copy (Ctrl+C) the "load xxxx-xx..." text in the text file. Do not close the file, as doing so will make the code not copy over prior to Warcraft 3 versions 1.28.
d. Go back into Warcraft 3 and paste (Ctrl+V) the code into chat and press ENTER.

Which player will have the save file?
The text file containing the Hero save code will save on both player's computers unless one player dropped out during the mission.

Where is my Warcraft 3 folder?
This will depend on your version of Warcraft 3:
Prior to 1.28 -> Either on your C drive or the location in which you installed Warcraft 3. An example path could be "C/Program Files/Warcraft 3"
1.28 and beyond -> Located in your Documents folder

Copying the text code into Warcraft 3 chat doesn't work. What should I do?
If the code does not appear in chat after pressing Ctrl+V, this is because you closed the text file before pasting the code into Warcraft 3.
If the code you copied into Warcraft 3 results in an error message, this could be either the code was modified or you are attempting to load the save code for the wrong map.
If the code you copied and entered into chat does not do anything, this is most likely a bug and should be reported to either Turnro or Ljarvisone.

- Maps have been worked on while keeping true to their original versions
- Improved save/load system. Players no longer have to remember and type long tedious codes! Instead, the game will automatically store codes in a text file that can be copied and pasted straight into chat
- Players get one main hero in each mission, with bases automatically shared between them. Earlier 2-player campaigns had players control separate bases, requiring huge balance changes and altering the original feel of the maps
- Maps can be played solo, especially if one player drops out of the game. This gives the other player the choice of either leaving or continue on to win the mission for the team :)
- New heroes fit the story of the campaign and do not feel poorly added

- Initial version uploaded to Hive Workshop

- Changed Farlic's in-game icon
- Changed the in-game voices of Falric and Sharlindra
- Replaced Cold Arrows with Dark Spirits for Sharlindra
- Sharlindra can now only reach Level 5 in Chapter 3 and no longer has Death and Decay
- Fix an issue where certain consumable items would not load correctly in Chapters 2, 3 & 4
- Fix a bug in Chapter 8 where Arthas' summoning animation will continue to play if he dies while attempting to control an obelisk
- Command hotkeys (such as Build, Attack, etc) can now be overwritten by player custom hotkey settings

It seems I am unable to host the map on battle.net. Just get instantly disconnected and unable to connect again.
Is it made for LAN only?

Hey, maybe this could be included here? :)
The 2 Player Campaign

It's not a bad idea. However, this campaign does have slightly different implementations to TheSpoon's such as shared bases and backpacks for heroes. I guess that should be up to whoever is hosting the project currently.

I never actually tested the maps using Battle.net. This will be something I'll look into.

Turnro, I started playing this today, and I cracked up when I saw Falric. The stein123/HoS Necromancer is actually a custom model called ScourgeNecromancer.mdx. The skin in this is a crappy recolor I made as a placeholder Ymirjar necromancer for the Vrykul. I do, however, appreciate seeing my materials being used by others. ;)

https://www.hiveworkshop.com/pastebin/094d21a58f7c90e66706f38881f7eff311769/ <-- in case you want it. Couldn't resist.

Otherwise, this very much lives up to The-Spoon's quality, and I find the save-load system much easier to work with in this version. Hard Mode is no lie; I'm a pretty fair player and have played the original TFT campaign on its highest difficulty, and I got stuck on Mission 1 on hard. That's not a criticism. I'm always impressed when a Hard Mode makes me rethink whether I want to play it on that difficulty. I'm only a couple missions in, but I have enjoyed it so far. I always love getting to see more co-op content.

EDIT: By the way, the Mission 1 interlude cannot be played multiplayer. Both players are on the same team. Otherwise no issues. :)

You got me there lol. I'll update the credits accordingly and will use the better model you made in the future. Other then that, it's good to know you are enjoying the coop campaign so far :)

EDIT: I've updated the interludes so that they can be played multiplayer.

But now i have another question: Is this anyhow launchable in 1.26 warcraft version? The only way to play with my friend relies on this version and not 1.28.

It should work but you both need to be using the same version and the file path would use the warcraft 3 directory instead of the documents folder. So it would something like: C:\Program Files (x86)\Warcraft III\Maps\Download

The "CustomMapdata" folder is only created once you complete a map.

If you have the latest patch, The file path should look something like this: Documents\Warcraft III\CustomMapData
Otherwise it might look more like this one: C:\Program Files(x86)\Warcraft III\CustomMapData
Where can i find that folder? I opened Warcraft III folder and I couldn't find it

Hello!

I'm the author of the Sentinel campaign for the 2 player hosted project.
I've just finished playing the entirety of your work.

I am most satisfied with the quality of your work. I encountered very few problems, I think your additions are neat - I loved both the sachets and the legendary items - and the save-load code is very easy to use.
I was first skeptical of the "archon-mode" approach, but it worked rather well. Perhaps even more so than the two seperate armies. I played with a friend who doesn't like macro-management and instead likes to focus on just one hero and this setup worked very well for us.

I did not get to play the Anub'arak part of Chapter 7c, but my friend tells me it was great.

On a minor note, a small quip at a thing I did not like: the custom heroes you created, Falric and the Banshee. Their ladder abilities were rather mundane and boring. The Banshee firing Frost Arrows was outright visually displeasing. I would gladly create some flashier abilities that are more fun to use for them, if you want.

Overall, the quality of your work is more than worthy of the two player campaign quality that TheSpoon and I tried to establish and while TheSpoon doesn't visit these forums much anymore, I would personally love to have your campaign included in the official download thread of the two player campaign.

Just say if you are okay with it and I'll put the link in the proper place. Of course, there is no pressure either.

Hi McQvaBlood,

Glad to hear you enjoyed playing the co-op version of the Scourge Campaign. You are right about the spells for Falric and the Banshee, and would be interested in revising their spells for a future update.

Ljarvisone and I are happy to have the campaign included on the 2-player official download forum :)

Very well.
I have added your campaign to the download page, the update page and made a sticky thread on the forum.

Although no promises on this subject, but I will contant a resource moderator to also try to move the acceptance process along so that your campaign doesn't have the nasty pending tag.

Once again, great work on all of this.

Gotta say, this seems like an excellent compromise for a coop campaign, mine implements shared control and bases without adding an extra hero for the second player. I agree keeping the original feel to the campaign is important.

Great job!

I'm looking for someone to play with. I found someone who only played the first chapter with me then got lazy. I want someone to be ready to finish it all with me!!! anyone?? i'm really excited for this one. reply quickly
thanks

I haven't really played the missions yet, but I have some questions and ideas.

Questions:
-Is there any way to bypass turn the QWER hotkeys into ZXCV? because I play with grid hotkeys usually, but the map replaces them. So when I press Q it orders a move command and when I press Z nothing happens. Is there a way other than going in the maps and manually changing the abilities?
-Do the Sachets save at the end of the mission?

Ideas:
I think I think custom heroes should not have abilities already used in campaign like Death and Decay. But using Tinker, Alchemist, Firelord abilities and Big Bad Voodoo (The ability that Rokhan doesn't have) is ok. Tinker Cluster Rockets (reskinned as evil spirits) would be ok. You should also give Sharlindra the Sylvanas Banshee Skin as the custom one looks strange. As for voices I think Falric should have Default Lich/Death Knight, and not Kel'Thuzad voice, and Sharlindra should have the Default Dark Ranger voice so it's not just like any other banshee. And change her class so it's not exacly like the name of a unit. Also a basic ability for her could be Possession, which hides her from the game and teleports her to the target until the target dies and she is unhidden. While possessing she is invulnerable and does not gain any mana/health. Since you only use her for one mission, I don't think she needs an ult. Also give Falric the Kel'Thuzad Necromancer icon. The fan made one looks bad.

Answer to your Questions:
- I am currently not aware of anyway to bypassing the hotkeys but I will check with Turnro about it and see if we cant come up with anything.
- Yes the Sachets save in the code in the same way the heroes inventory does. You just have to manually copy & paste the code.

About your Ideas:
We do plan to revisit the Custom heroes spells in a future update, Particularly Sharlindra. Tinker Cluster reskinned, Falric as default Lich/deathKnight and Sharlindra as Default Dark Ranger voice, I like all these ideas and will discuss them by Turnro.

Just so you guys know, the stat increase in kelthuzad (if you let him get +1int tome, +1str tome or +1agi tome) transfer to Falric and then from Falric to Anubarak. I have tested it, and this is what happened. I have two pictures here, one is Falric after Kelthuzad getting the tomes, and the other with Falric's base stats.

There is an error in chapter 8, where i put arthas to control an obelisk, he died in the process, and when i revived him, the effect of controlling obelisk kept happening all the time, and i just wanted to report this. Also, the obelisk control countdown didn't go away and remain 0:00
I found all legendary items, except one (Nerubian Scepter). Any hints where it is? xD

oh I see, we will be sure to look into it. Thanks Ahman.
I can show you where it is when we play next ;)

Hey guys! Remember when I gave you the idea about giving Sharlindra the Tinker Rockets and Possession? I have implemented these new abilities into the map. You can use my edited map instead of the normal one if you want. I hope you don't mind.
Sharlindra's Abilities
(Q) Dark Spirits - reskinned Tinker Cluster Rockets, but fewer.
(W) Screech - like Pit Lord Howl of Terror (from original map)
(E) Steal Body - Sharlindra possesses an enemy.
The possessed unit gets 2 abilities:
(T) Drain Body - Kills the possessed unit and grants Sharlindra health and mana back depending on a percentage of the maximum health and mana of that unit. The percentage depends on the level of Dark Spirits (5% With no level/15%/25%/35%).
(F) Screech - Just like Sharlindra's Screech but costs a percentage of the unit's Health (since most units have no mana). The percentage is based on the level of Screech (50%/45%/40%).
While a unit is possessed, Sharlindra's Satchet gains an ability:
(W) Select Body - Selects the unit Sharlindra is possessing
Since you can't select Sharlindra (she is hidden), pressing F1 will do nothing. So you can Press F2 and then W.
There are still some bugs like the ogre models when using Drain Body. Save/Load triggers are not changed. So you can play the campaign without any errors. One other change I've made is that now Sharlindra starts with level 4 and has 1 point in Q, 2 in W and 1 in E. I hope Turnro and Ljarvisone will add this to their campaign.

Any chances of including a file which has hints/spoilers for the new items? I'd hate to miss out on them, and I already had trouble finding the first one. Plus, if you guys stop supporting this in a few years, it would be good to have it down for players who'd like to know in 5 or 10 years' time :D

Great job on the maps. What I've played so far is immensely faithful to the originals, which is the hallmark of the best Co op campaigns I've yet played. Excellently done.

A small update is now available to fix some issues with the Scourge Campaign Co-op, including bugs and changes to the custom heroes. Enjoy :)

What is your reason for asking this? If you play the maps by yourself, the gameplay isn't anywhere different from if you played the original campaign.

None of my friends play this but I want to replay the campaign with more "massive war".
