Nice model, i see that you based it on the LOTR War of the Ring concept art of Sauron which is very nice combined with othel lotr models one can easily make a good remake of Wotr in wc3.

Love the stand chanel animation, but maybe make the ring glow a bit to make it more to stand out.

HerrDave is really good in making LOTR models that will still fit on Warcraft, this is almost perfect man.

This is good work :)
Just In my opinion the texture is a little too blur, Could be Sharper, but it might be limited due to the size of the texture to control the filesize :p

If the Detail Is Sharper, I am pretty sure this one Blends Well with other In-game Unit

Stand Ready Animation (according to Hive's Viewer) Could slow down abit, (But not a big deal)

Love the Attack 1 animation, Good work on tweaking the anim, it is awesome :)
I like the Mesh, Simple yet it get what it should be done :)

Pretty snazzy, man; nice fit to the rest of your models. I particularly love "animated suits of armor".

Personally, my only issue with this is that he lacks the gravitas and grandeur of his namesake... That is to say, Sauron of all people shouldn't be loping about, or swinging his arms flamboyantly; I'd look for more cold, calculated & powerful motions in his character. The animation I have the biggest beef with is his Walk; replace that with a potent, slower Stride and he'd be 20% cooler. : )

Any specific reason why he is a flying armor and the helmet is on fire?

Yep - While I was in the War of the Ring editor looking for colour references and how to properly shape the models; I stumbled across an unused texture labelled "SKIN_Sauron"

While it was never used in the game, I was able to eyeball it and work out vaguely what the model would have looked like.
Well, all but the mace, that was purely guesswork.

I've since refined the concept into something more fitting of WC3's style, while remaining faithful to the original interpretation.

And the Flaming head?

The inspiration for the flaming head came from an old LotR cartoon and I rolled with it because t seemed strange to me that Sauron would be naught but floating armour - which strikes me as something that a Nazgul or Wight would be.

*note - This is the Witch King, not Sauron in the cartoon.

Thanks :)

For models based on the movies, you'll find @Fingolfin 's models are much better than mine

When you get the chance, track him down and see what he's got on the model-menu, he's actually one of the guys who inspired me to take up modeling

My own models chase the themes of older LotR games, like Fellowship of the Ring (2002), The Hobbit (2003), and War of the Ring (2003)

Yes, I know most of the models made by Fingolfin, but I am pretty sure he hasn't made a Sauron model : (
There are only 2 Sauron models on the hive, yours, and another one that looks more classic although frankly it looks outdated in terms of quality.

Plus you already made BFME-like models, like some of the Gondorian soldiers : P
(Not a request by the way, I don't have plans for a LotR project at the moment, so feel free to keep Sauron as is : )

thank you for this magnificent model 5/5 it looks just like the reference. although i liked the older one in some way, i loved the attack 2 animation on the older one, and the mace looked pretty cool. is it possible to post the older one with the new head and the new walk animation as a separate model ?

while you were eating spaghetti-o's I was thinking of something that would suit the floating helmet theme you got going on. have you considered making guardians of middle earth type of witch king Witch King.jpg
