Description

The Forsaken are trying to conquer their land, but humans built a few strongholds there. However, the orcs are interested in this land too, and a human-orc battle arises. An then, there are The scourge, that sneaky terrorize the land. And lastly, there are hidden troll camps around the map.

Part of the Sanctum series (1)

A Team co-op dungeon-escape RPG for 3 players. Here you will find attractive terrain, consecutive questing, side quests, 12 heroes, shop with items, 4 Sanctum areas to rest, heal and buy items.

You begin with 5 lives and can gain more from random drops. It is recommended to have at least one healer in your team. You resurrect at resurrection stones, and the checkpoint list updates with every completed quest. A linear, straightforward dungeon crawler with an end.

2. Items are directly taken from Warcraft III. So are most spells. Why not be a bit more creative?
3. I think Curse produces two hearts and not one (level 1 spell).
4. Guardian Mages stop their animation after a while. There's no resistance. You just kill those 4 without any stress.
5. You shouldn't be able to choose the same spell for level 2 unless you're level 3 (Curse).
6. Life Drain when learnt, gets on the ultimate's position.
7. Would be nice to have a different model for Deathstones since thy look like runes.
8. For some reason, the enemy units come when attacked but those near the attacked do not come too.
9. Shield of the Deathlord+Shiled of Honour from Granis?
10. It's easy to kill most units with hit and run tactics (spells).
11. You can find items which can also buy; not very nice.
12. Killing Villagers makes heroes gain experience... Some Villagers are neutral.
13. Basically, you kill units on the map waiting for you.
14. Spells need to be balanced. For instance Hunger is passive... and slows every nearby enemy.
15. There's a lot of space on the map where there's nobody or there are a few doodads on one tile type.
16. This is quite easy to play by yourself.
17. What after level 10?

Credits list required. Start with: Resources in Use by Sanctum 2: The Damned | HIVE

Overall it needs some work on the creative field, especially items; enemies need to be challenging not waiting for you with low HP while you go to regenerate and return to finish them.

Always check/recheck the Map Submission Rules! (Map Submission Rules)

A credits list is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated.

A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.

I can't help but think that by looking @ that screenshot? you just randomly places unit why is that happening?

Dropped items can't be picked up, it just gives a message that you can't use them. Even if you bought the item in the first place, and even in single player.

Finishing the plague quest marks the Troll quest as completed. The quest can be quickly done on the crops tileset, which apparently counts as grass but remains unblighted. A skull can be finished off in less than a second by queuing on that terrain. The skull works on grass, but clicking on dirt gets the "only on grass or dirt" message.

Killing trolls doesn't update the amount left to kill (although this might be because of the plague quest bug). Completing the trolls quest displays the message of completion and a reward of 1000 gold (when the quest said 1200). After completing it, every enemy killed displays the message... and gives 1200 gold. I finished at nearly 60,000 gold thanks to that.

After a while my hero became invulnerable. No, not so Agile, armored or regenerating that he couldn't be damaged, he literally had Invulnerable armor. This lessened the challenge of the game somewhat. I think it happened after finishing the mage village, since I then finished the undead base without being attacked, and then it wore off as I started attacking the orc base.

The orc towers aren't invulnerable, but they're attackable. And however much HP they have, a whosyourdaddy-ed steroided hero didn't do anything at all.

THe Far Seer and one Shadow Hunter are level 1.

Quest refers to Brol Narzarr as Ker'Narzarr.

There was a quest about a human and orc battle, but I didn't see any of their units fighting.

Using the Lich:
* Frost Nova displays N as its hotkey instead of Q.
* Chains can target mechanical units but not heroes.
* Blizzard uses the falling iceshard on the caster, while the targets take damage without being hit by anything.

Overall, buggy but playable- and entertaining bugs at that.

Why is there a tenth level lich hero from the start? Aren't you supposed to choose the hero? Now you can have the lich and choose a hero too.
Obsidian Carapace's first level in the learn panel description mentions 0 as all values.
Why are some spell descriptions totally written in yellow or with a bit of red too while others normally like in Warcraft III (a bit of yellow and more white)?
A lot of the issues I've mentioned way back stand and on top of that, this map is dependent on usual Warcraft III material (no custom spells, items, units).

In this moment I would rate the map 2/5, it lacks extremely important things in order to be approved or to fit the RPG theme. Check this out: EmberCraft ARPG v0.10.773 . You can get a lot of inspiration in order to improve your map. As for now, I vote this for "Needs Fix"

You improved it indeed. The hero tooltips are better now as well. I found an ability that didnt't have its hotkey described in the tooltip though. The searing arrows I think. The doodads combined with those tilesets have nothing in common and they look weird. You can also use the smooth in World Editor to tone the level and edges of ramps located into water such as the the ones from the starting area. The hero gains exp kinda slow. Compared to how it was back then, this version is clearly better. As I already said, there is always room for improvement. So don't give up!

4. I made the heroes gain XP slower, because of the many enemies you have to kill. For example those 2 quests with 6 waves of creeps. When I was testing, I saw that if you complete the whole map you get to like level 7-8? Maybe I should increase it a tiny bit.

The hotkey from Flaming Arrows or fire arrows from the dark ranger hero.
The edges in water, they look like triangles instead of being all smooth and blend in with the terrain.
As for the environment, it is related mostly to those trees that you used. Ofc they look nice but not combined with those tilesets...
 
chanagelog 2.0b :

  • smoothing of the terrain here and there
  • at the starting sanctum, made the ramps smooth!
  • fixed all errors of the abilities, ability tooltips and recolored them! (wrong hotkeys, wrong button postitions)
  • the XP base calculation is increased by +2
