Saga Roleplay 1.23

A new roleplaying map created by long-time roleplayers. Originally SRP was a modified version of TheBlackMage/Motive’s uncompleted prophecy roleplay map, designed for a specific rp storyline with permission from the original creators. However, we put so much work into it that we decided to make it more applicable for general rping and have released it openly. Hope you enjoy it!

Special thanks go to all the people who’ve made models, icons, and skins that we’ve used in the map. Credits are in the quests menu; if we’ve used something that you made and have missed you please let us know and we’ll make sure you’re mentioned in the next version.

Check out our forums at srp.cjb.net for more information on the map and to report bugs and suggestions.

Credits:
Original pRP:
TheBlackMage/Motive: Triggers
Iamthewalrus: Terrain
King Darkmoor: Custom units

SRP:
Idyllwyld: Just about anything that needed work, mostly units and minor terrain edits. Jerk-err Jack of all Trades. Also came up with the original Saga concept, so this is all really his fault.
Pheonix-IV: Terrain, based off of CotM with modifications to fit Saga storyline.
King Darkmoor: Custom units, triggers, and some terrain tweaks

Some of the changes in 1.23:

-Fixed several crashing bugs/exploits
-Loops are maintained when giving units to neutral
-Selection bug has been reduced
-Adding and removing abilities via ability codes has been changed. Rather than '[Ability Code] and @[Ability Code] it is now #[Ability Code] and $[Ability Code]. Adding and removing via ability names remains unchanged.
-Pretty new felchaim model. Isn't it shiny?
-Shop area has been compressed, creating room for a new interior below it. This new interior is currently empty; if you have any suggestions on whether to leave it this way or make it into someone feel free to post them on our forums.

Note that we've had several internal tests prior to this release, which is why its jumping from 1.19 to 1.23.

Hey narks, never see you on the text forum anymore. Given up on rping?

Sorry to see the 1 star, don't even wanna play it first? Tsk tsk. Why back in the good ol' RoC days it was perfectly alright to have more than one rp map without the different groups going at each other's throats. We also had to walk 5 miles to school each day. In the snow!

I'm Smartman you dumbass. You coulda atleast knew from your own profile visitor message. Funny how Anarki comments on only RP maps and most likely their retarded or flaming.

Anyway....this map is good but why edit the triggers and models and A TINY bit of terrain? Heck, I'm so sick of that regular terrain it's not worth playing. You should also look into the selection bug because it's massive. Basicly one of the worse I had. This map needs more improving from terrain and trigger wise. Though I am greatful that you fixed the lag problem on this map. I give it a 7.5 since terrain hasn't been put much thought into and still lacks some minor things like selection bug problems.

Hehe. So you finally put it out. Thank goodness.

You already know what I'm going to rate this. It's been in the works for a long time; I won't let it down. :)

Oh god... terrible!

1) No information in the Loading Screen at all.
2) And Loading the game took at least 5 minutes. 5 FREAKING MINUTES !! Half of the players left at that time.
3) "Commands"-log is flooded with information. Seeking the right part is a pain in the ass.
4) I really never liked these "RP" maps. They are just strange. Why should I "roleplay" in Warcraft when I can play classical pen&paper roleplaying games with my friends?
5) I really don't understand why there are so much different units. I dare to question are they all necessary.

Overall: Not for me. 1/5

Are you 1ning it because of specific problems other than the ones you described or because you don't like rp maps in general?

The loading time is a pain, but not really avoidable. The map currently is too large to widgitize, which usually helps a lot with loading. One of the reasons we don't have a loading screen is so that you can see how everyone is progressing on the loading. There wouldn't be any useful info on the map anyways aside from the usual "We made it, hurray for us!" and version number.

The quests menu does have a lot of info, but there is a lot to cover. Unfortunately with RP maps usually its hard to get into unless there's someone nice willing to show you the ropes and you figure out the rest as you go along.

Oh the custom heroes aren't really necessary, a few blank heroes with custom models and we would have been fine. However, we had fun making them, and there are people who enjoy using them so they're gonna stay.

I checked and tested out the whole maps.
Seems to be no bugs but i will further test if i have more time. Save more space and remove things not really necessary for terraining. I found sometimes lagging when people playing on internet. They said it was lagging so reduce the memory leak plz.

1. Why the hell need info on Loading Screen if you usally can see good info at Quests or At start of map introduction cinema as These rp games does

2. I think your little internet is too slow for you, couse i needed only one minute to load all with all players... So thats "YOUR" Problem

3. You are just too lazy to learn...

4. Then why the hell you even post your useless post? To dishonor author maybe? And if you dont like roleplaying games then why you play them?

5. Yes they are necessary, more custom units = more rp ideas and things.

I dont want to be very offendive, but voting at you i would put well 1/5 but if there would be 0 then 0/5...

Have a nice day

BTW: Nice map, i have played it pretty nice rp tho ^^

Many Plusses,
Dear SRP Design team, i wish to express my compliments on what would be one of my all time favorite maps.
though the lagg may be dissapointing, i find that the storyline is "secksy" and the world is much like one of my friends' "themes"[well in uniqueness at least]if the idiot over there in the corner who gives you 1\5 was not so stupid, which i doubt anyone likes, if he were lucky, i would to deem this map better than he can do. all in all, nice map, have fun, lovely, anything else?

Rui's review for "Saga Roleplay" (v1.23)

"Saga Roleplay" is an RP game. These RP maps are meant for you to create your own story with a lot of useful commands at your disposal. This roleplaying map is special: it was created for a roleplaying theme called Shadows of the Past, in which I was secretly involved (hehe) not under this nickname. I only remember having roleplayed it once, since the timezones were quite different.First comments: unnecessary lag at game start, and a lot of lag on the shops area for some reason. And high file size, subject spoken of ahead.
Critiques first go to the quest log. The information in there is unorganized, confusing, not always true and overall lacking. For example, I did not remember how to revive trees, so I spent an entire game unable to revive destructibles.
The quantity of imported models is ridiculous. I know it was supposed to be a roleplaying theme and you wanted to make it as best as possible, but the map is just too high sized and the models don't really fit any purpose besides that of fitting into the units' looks, when on the majority of the times they're quite simple and not needed.
I should also point out that melee units should not have upgrades, because of the balance issues with the creeps.
The worst about this map is definitely the command bug. Command bug reduced? You've got to be kidding! I can't select a unit without getting all the others moving with it. The command bug in this map is horrible!
Additionally, the terrain is interesting, but it could have been much better on elevation and ground texture variation.
That being said, I don't know what else to mention. This map needs a lot of work. My rating is a 2/5 (Lacking). I was about to reject it, but for anyone who wishes to try it out, here it is...

EDIT: Added the Miscellaneous/Other type to the map and removed Role Playing Game.

I could easily fix everything everyone has complained about even that noob in the corner with 1/5, only if you guys would of let me helped when i was friends with you in Clan RotH... sigh this map has went downhill i have to agree with Rui about lacking 2/5 but the amount of units did intrest me as seeing most rps never get new units.

I got bad news....

No, we don't play WoW now.

But, rather than let SRP sit in indefinite limbo forever I'd rather insure its resources be put to good use. That's why I've decided to release its source data to anyone who would like it. If nothing else, our object data is probably the most comprehensive out there and, cockiness aside, our custom heroes are the best (without being uber, *cough*other RP's*cough*).

The data is free to use in future potential RP projects. We just ask that credit be given where credit is due.

Or, better yet, if anyone wants to take the current SRP map data and perfect it (chiefly balance the units stats and cut down on the selection bug) that would be fantastic, and I'd be happy to help in what ways I could.

It's been fun, kiddos. Consider this Darkmoor and my final kickback to the RP community that gave us so many wonderful nights of great roleplaying.

Contact me if you're interested about obtaining the map data, either via PM, email, or AIM.
