Runeshelf

This is a makeshift shelf, roughly carved out of a rock, but the content is worth some gold: Different holy runic objects from all over Azeroth, giving the owner mighty powers.

This is my first model, and i am proud of it, no matter how simple it may be.
Its a replacement for the rune shelves of the Sunken Ruins, but unlike them, this model has a back. I created it because X-OMG-X once requested one, but he was not very clear what exactly he wanted:
"Its not a very hard model to do. Its basically just a library shelf with a few stones/runes. You may use the "Ruins Library Shelf" as a reference. Its attached to this post. Custom textures is okay and ingame aswell. Will have to be in a nice and clean quality."
So i created this model. It has no animation, since its supposed to be a doodad. It uses only ingame Textures.

Update:
As suggested, i removed some runes and made the rest bigger and used a less contrasty rock texture

Update Nr. 2:
And again another rock texture. It looks better now, but is still to bright in my opinion -.-

Update Nr. 3:
Changed the rock texture slightly and improved the wrap a bit. Now, there should be no greenish edges anymore.

General Frank:
If you couldfix the wrap on the top part of the shelf, I couldapprove this model for good.

Changes are done. Model performs well as a doodad in-game.

Can you make 2 version one will be this and the other it is made out of wood so it can be used in different place instead of a underground like place.

Um, just one question:

Is it possible to remove the rune and add it later as an attatchment?
So it can be taken from the shelf.

Hm, i just learned how to export the models. I'll try to make one, but i cant promise anything. ( I am busy with some other things too, so it may take a while)

I don't even know which tool I should use for modeling.^^
I was just thinking about using the shelf as some kind of a treasure.

This was a sudden intuition, don't waste your time with it, but for a rpg it might be a useful feature. :csmile:

Very nice and useful doodad don't see why it shouldn't be approved. I don't like how the top left rune just sinks through the shelf but its not really noticable in game so good job. 5/5 and vote for approve

Your post probably landed in the wrong thread. It just a shelf.

Well, this should be the last update now. I changed the rock texture again and i think it now looks decent. Additionally, I improfed the wrap. The sides no use less parts of the texture, making them blend more with the back, which now has a better wrap at the top. The annoying green edges that existed du to the rock texure are now removed.

It's a great and well-executed model, and I really like the idea especially. Finally we'll have something to replace the Sunken Ruins doodad! I honestly have to say that in regard to GF's comment, the odd wrap at the top of the shelf makes it look a little more like it's carved out stone, since it'd be better if it wasn't quite so clear-cut...
