Hello! I present you my map Ruins of War
Choose one of 36 heroes to progress through, fight the enemy units and bosses in order to get levels and items, the goal is to reach the end boss and kill him.

Team up with up to 7 teammates to progress through, a balanced team composition with healer, tank and dps will help you have easier times against bosses and enemy ambush. The map and the bosses have patterns which when learned become much easier to overcome certain boss or place, the map is designed to be very hard at first runs. Heroes are designed to be different and although some may fullfill their role better than others, all should be unique.

The Story
Before anything existed there were two gods, Karus the god of war, and Jiakos the god of peace. Due to their different nature they battled for ages untill Karus came out victorious, but his energy was cursed during the battle, he was dying slowly so he had decided to make his own world so there would be always a part of him living in the unvierse, he used his last energy to create this world hence the world of Karus. This is what everyone knew about the world they live in.
The world of Karus has always been in peace since its creation. It consisted of 3 realms, The Divine, The Nature and The Abyss, even though the creatures inside it were so different from each other they could coexist, share wisdom with each other and even enjoy each others friendship. However even with peace on their side, the world of Karus was falling apart, even the energy was stagnant, it was slowly rotting, the kings of the three realms were always seeking for answers about the truth of their world but never found anything. Because their world was falling apart, the king of the Nature realm decided to resign from the throne to seek wisdom in the depths of the ocean. He was called King of Tides. After spending many years in the depths of the ocean, he was enlightened with the truth about their world but refused to tell the other kings, instead he conspired with their champions and overthrew the other kings and rise as the sole emperor in the world of Karus for the first time ever in its creation, the world had only one "King". Because of those actions, war had emerged and peace was no longer, the realms couldnt agree with the single ruler so there was constant fighting and battles to overthrow the king of tides, but no one succeded. In Ruins of War you play as champions from the 3 realms in order to kill the King of Tides and find out about the truth about the world of Karus.

Also, refine your description. It's not pleasant to read. It doesn't have the proper details about the gameplay of the map.

  1. The map relies heavily on original Warcraft III material like spells and items. It's very classic styled.
  2. Active ability icons could be made to look active and passive ones passive with: Button Manager v1.8.2
  3. Ability descriptions need some edit:
    Tooltip Tutorial
    Creating Good Descriptions
  4. Some heroes can blink past pathing blockers.
Honestly the map is too simple for nowadays and there was another of the same type recently uploaded which I can't find for some reason.
And this one which is close to yours:
7 Blademasters - New Shores v11.4

If you could improve it to today's standards, that would help.

A rant to the map maker/suggestion
Man, this map has lots of potential, so many interesting heroes and cool spells, but... what exactly is the deal with those naga myrmidons, it just feels like such a kick in the balls to the players, having fun and fighting enemy units with 30 dmg and low hp at first only to get past them and not even get past 20% of the map and to get to fight with 300 chaos dmg naga with insane - 30 armor reduction debuffs, like.. really man? are you insane? i mean 1 of those naga seems to be as strong as a boss, but that is only a normal unit, not only that, but there are like 7 of them, that for me was a joke and trully made me give up on the map, i only played it a few times to test the heroes (because they seemed to be pretty interesting and i was curious) but other than that, the map feels super incomplete and untested!

I did play solo tho, but, seeing those naga units (which were ranged as well) with 300 chaos dmg and -30 armor debuff spell, i am not sure you can fight those even with more players, i guess the only way is to kite 1 of them and perma stun them, but that feels mega cheezy and stupid, having to do that for every and each one of them... so yea, My only suggestion is to make those naga units much weaker, that or remove their armor reduction spell, cuz that just feels so stupid and over powered!

Hello, thanks for the suggestions. I decided to improve the ability descriptions and have now re-uploaded the newer version. Honestly said, the ability descriptions were very bad indeed, so your critisism was on point. Now they should be atleast fine :D

Hey dude! I actually had given up on the map as i thought i failed to make it fun for people but your words inspired me so i decided to update it once more as the admin guy said. I improved the ability descriptions and added one more hero. When creating the map i was thinking about how to make it fun, and so i thought from my own perspective that fun comes with challenge, so i tried to make it very hard, but your feedback is appreciated so i decided to lower the Tough Guard (Naga myrmidon) damage and minus armor spell. I playtested it several times with people on the Battlenet (reforged) and most of the times people would die on Naga Ambushers (the naga with ensnare) so we would lose there, so we i never could test the myrmidon with people. So the balance is quite meh, i tried making alot of heroes all of them different as much as possible but balancing all of them according to the NPCS is very hard thing to do without playtesting with people. Your feedback is appreciated, thanks!

Hi, i usually like playing these kinds of maps solo. I started alone in order to get to know some of the heroes and i find a lot of interesting choices.
I managed to make a decent progress with solo hero Sacred warrior. Killed 2 of the bosses but i know that is there's no way that i can do more than that with him.
Reached 16 lvl with decent stats but he surely cant do it alone. I ll keep testing some heroes to see their potential in team battle.
Can you give me an option to play 3 heroes in solo mode? I am sure i can beat it.

Some thoughts and suggestions about the heroes.
I like the Guardian of the gate. He seems to be amazing. In order to coordinate his skills
efficiantly, would you consider changing his immune ability to instant cast than 5 sec cast?
He will be playable.
There should be a realistic synergy for his spells.

Avatar of duality. I believe in this hero. I think though that mana costs are really high, i wouldnt suggest to lower them though as they are all really powerfull. I would consider one of the dual abilities to be a mana replenishing option instead of 3 healing options. It would make him the must support caster in a 5 player team. Aoe damage, healing option and mana replenishment (dream hero)
Lord Vaisk Nature King. What a unit!
I would love him even more if he could dodge a spell here and there with his evasion :p
I am pushing it there to hard, i know, sorry.

Hey there mate! I am glad you liked it, i made special version where you can have 3 heroes. I playtested the map alone with 7 heroes and all the bosses except the last one are beatable, the last one requires every person to do his own job so its quite hard to do it alone.
I am glad you also enjoyed the heroes, its where i put my creative imagination and tried to make different heroes but i am not that quited good with triggers so my imagination was limited :D
I just recently made Guardian of the gate and havent playtested him much so i am not sure in what position he is right now. I made it 5 second delay because if it was instant it would be too easy and the hero would be very strong, thats why i made the ultimate to be instant immunity but harder to time.
Avatar of Duality - i think every hero must have his own flaws in order to work with other heroes, if he had mana regen i think he would be as you say a must for every team

I just wanted to say: if you're running a balance playtest, and all your players are dying on the same spot.
It probably means, the place where they die is too hard (or not implemented well enough).
Just saying this cause you seem to think that "you couldn't test the Naga Myrmidon", but in reality you're testing your entire map at once, anything you write down from this test is useful to your future design.

In any case, I was just stepping by, GL HF for all your projects!

You are welcome! IF you want to play a hero that spawns with more units you need to pick him last so the food doesnt mess up.

I managed to get him down to 500 hp so it can be done, with 2 scrolls of healing + mana. I like my original combo but Probably it would be easier with the bash and 2 more disables. But at the same time this makes it clear that i cant kill the 3 upcoming heroes. I tried to say hello to leviathan just to see the difficulty lvl .
He said nah f#&k you.
So because i am persistant i did kill the 2nd boss just out of spite with this combo.
Looking forward though to the longterm i changed combo and tried the Vanguard, Holy master and Divine King.
Well that made things easier. It was easy to corner the 2nd boss and killed him.
I got passed Leviathan as well. Holy wings on Master gave him the needed armor and ats to maximize his bash and isolate leviathan and vanguard took care of the summons.
I made decent progress but i play a game that seems unwinable. Anyway, i ll push it to the limit.
I am working my strategy on the Kunka 4th hero. I ll try to bate waves of units just to lvl up and i think i ll engage lvl 16. So i pushed fwd and reached Boss lvl 5. I thought that i would get a deja Fu from Kael but i quikly realized that he is just a caster. So he had no chance and i killed him like a butterfly. Didnt even need Holy masters ulti. Item drop was really bad btw for my tanky team. Having said all that i must say that boss 4 is overpowered no doubt about it. That -15 -20 armor whatever it is, is bonkers.
Also bosses need to give more experience when killed. I get 300 exp or something. It should be more.
Check Vanguard for his spell resistance, i think it doesnt work properly.
Finally, do i have to kill boss lvl 4 to move on to boss lvl 6? I reached earlier a guardian that dropped a spell amulet and i couldnt move up on the hill, like there was a barrier preventing me too...
I finally managed to kill boss man 4 when i reached lvl 20...
I bought wards and went back to the way up the hill. I cant move, there is something blocking my way there. Ward doesnt reveal anything so it is doodadidas or what the hell ?
Lets see. I like this game a lot because you have to play near perfect to complete certain stages.
Last update, i finished the game with Holy master, Vanguard and Unknown Force.
Agility was the medicine.

You must have been really persistent :O I thank you too man, im glad you enjoyed it and ill take your feedback, when i was playing it i kinda thought that most of the things are way too hard to overcome, especially for newbies (im veteran myself) and i struggled with alot of the challenges. In order to overcome the 2nd boss you need to have over 1200 hp in all heroes and healing potions. Spells wont kill him so in my single player mode, str fight is the only way i could see the job getting done. So boss 2 is beatable with 4 to 5 different sets of heroes in single mode. Boss 3 is a real challenge but very satisfying to beat him.
I originaly reached boss 4 having my 2 heroes lvl 11 and 1 hero lvl 10. Its not doable. I managed to beat him lvl 16 the second time but it was brutal.
Boss 5 was a cheesecake but i can see how difficult he will be to beat with casters in the combo so he is fine.
Boss 6 the Sven hero is absolutly amazing. I would consider a "No escaping this" and wall of the 2 routes..
Boss lvl 7 was really easy because the items i had at this point were unbelievable. I also found the brilliance aura mana regen.
In the Vanguard, Holy master and Divine King wasnt necessary ofc but in the Holy master, Vanguard and Unknown Force was superb.
The 3 hidden items man were a ballbuster i must say.
Boss 8 i would expect something similar to the other heroes, like him summoning waves of the dead sea turtles and dead slithering guards.
Anyway he was easy to beat in both situations, though i must admit with unknown force it was autoattack mode.
I loved it. I ll test other combos in the future. The corona virus treatment is warcraft and painting for me.

Amazing mate! I am very impressed that you managed to beat the map, i made sure it quite challenging! Anyway i took your feedback and decided to update the map once more. Except the exp thing with the bosses which i knew i should do but i still couldnt figure it out how to do it. Improved some things and nerfed some things. Here is the 3 hero version just in case you want to try again! Cheers man.
