1. Fixed the Sizzle Trees, no spaces between trees anymore (took me like 6 hrs) - Costly Rookies Mistake (no more goblin zepplin drops)
2. Fixed sobimask only drop from Natural expensions
3. Fixed all mines by setting creeps from Camping to normal (rookie mistake)
4. Removed 1 of the Green creep camps in every's player Zone (from 4 to 3)
5. Combined 2 Red Creep Camps into an single but Shares two shops now (Mercanary & Fountain)

Map Info:

This map is to my humble opinion one of the Best 12 Player Free for all map ever created (or 6 vs 6 )

There went a lot of resources and time into balancing this map, I think I spent over 30 hours on concepts
and attempts and sometimes started it all from scratch again

There has been countless Hours into the art of Tiles and Doodads and it is not even Finished for even 50% but that does not matter Gameplay at all for now.

History:
There is already 300 hrs of work in it and there is about 100 more hrs to go.

It is my first map I have ever created and Published, I halted this project two years ago because of having no believe that big FFA games would be popular again.

After not playing Warcraft 3 for 2 years I found out recently that there is a Bot creating Custom FFA with ranks and such and it is quite popular, they also sometimes use custom Maps

I have joined them and after playing 30 games I decided to finish my Map and submit it to them for costum games

I would like to have Feedback on:


1 Creeping and Drops. (Problem with drops, Do creeps function normally / Pathing weird attacks etc etc)

2. Feedback on bugs on the map Pathing Glitches, ( i have tried to remove all the Pathing errors for the Last 4 hrs and I hope i took them all down, but maybe there are problems with mines, pathing stucks,
too narrow places to move an army through (i tried to keep the map atleast everywhere 5 squares width so 5 tanks can go next to each other

3. Feedback on how well the map played out for you on 6vs6 or FFA

4. The map is Divided in 12 outer ring Pizza Slices, Middle and the The Town Center

a. The town Center (100% finished on art)
b. The Middle rings is 60% finished on the art but it is fully functional for play and testing (art: doodads and Terrain needs still more work)
c. The 12 outer ring Pizza Slices, some of them are finished! Some are are just quickly finished without proper Doodads and terrain art,
Section 6 to 11 is Fully Finished Section 1 to 5 11, and 12 are let's say Half done in the Art and Terrain Department

The map should be fully and normally playable in this beta state but when you give me feedback keep the following in mind,

The art and Doodads are not all over the map finished, Some areas look gorgeous and Some look very lackluster but this project is just tooo big to finish it very quickly and i would really like to have proper feedback on balance, bugs and Mistakes


Features:


Goal:

A truely well Balanced and stunning BIG FFA / 12 Player map, with equal starting positions and creeping posibilties.
Bigger and Better Then the Famous Divide and Conquer, but also took inspiration from it such as how much gold is on the map.
Where finished the map looks equally or better then the single player campaign maps of Blizzard ( a lot of works still needs to be done I know)

Travel:
Although this map is Epic sized and bigger then Divide & conquer and Emerald Gardens, it offers quick and better travel then the other maps mentioned.
this is achieved by putting main bases fairly close to the center, the Center town itself offers quick portals to the other side of the town really quick,
so long travels are reduced to a minimum which was one the main goals for me to try to make this map to an succes

Creeps and drops :

Creeps come in large numbers (close to the maximum of 512) are well placed over the map and have no overpowered drops!

creeps around bases are low,( 4 green creep camps around your own base but fairly close to the edges of other player bases)
orange creep camps are often located at the edges of other player base to maximize the effect of Human encounter, Will ppl decide to flee to keep creeping or try attack other players!
Red creep Camps are only located at the middle Gold Mines and Town center which give acces to Interesting Shops

Will you as player Decide to focus on quick creeping and try to get lucky on drops?



Gold Mines and Shops :

Base: 14500 Gold
Neutral Expension 17500 Gold
Center Gold mines 17500 Gold (8 in total)

I decided to give the natural expension more gold then the Base because of the following theory:
it would make proper securing your expension or attacking other players expension a lot more Viable and Rewarding action
Only 8 comeplete neutral mines which are not well hidden and close to the center.

6x Tavern: Every player Has good Acces to it but it is located between Players for excitment
6x Goblin laboraty: Located at the edge of the map between every player and Guarded by orange group of Creep camp
8x Goblin Merchant: Also located at the edge of the map and guarded with low orange Creep camp, Also it is Located at 2 corners of the City center but guarded by red creep camps
4x Mercanary Camp: Located at the Middle section of the map outside the City Center and guarded by group of Mages (i hope to edit it later to give acces to lot of more Merchants)
4x Mana or health Fountain: located in the Middle section of the map but it will randomly choose to be Either mana or health to not overpower orc BM and BM at the start
2x Marketplace: Both are located in the Town center and guarded by High Red creep camps


Some else stuff about map:



2. I always Feel on FFA that Players should Have to be able to make there own choices whether to creep or Harass / Attack an enemy player and EVERYTHING GOES!!!

to accomplish this I have put enough creeps in the game exactly in between players and towards the middle, encounters with enemy players should be high and travel from 1 town to an other is not too far or too close to an enemy players.
I believe I took in my development in the past market Place, Divide and conquer, the crucible, Emerald Dreams as reference from walking to your neighbour Player which came good to me and most other players

"The map is really beefed with such much potential this deserves a good time to play with teams, the idea of random fountains is quite unique in a way with a really near mercenary camp this kind of idea can be problematic yet very useful. Although I hate to admit that all neutral buildings are to heavily defended though."

"Terrain is very well done, cool idea for mixing different types of trees and stuff but what's bothering me is the middle portion of the map, I don't quite get the idea of making boundaries in tight places of the city why not just add some doodad that can block those entries you don't want? or how about make a custom doodad that has no pathing texture then add pathing blocker to it."

Dude you have some problems with descreption.The credits and changelog arent mentioned cause they are marked as xxxx.If there is nothing to say o them just dont add them.And the gameplay screens dont exist.

You ask for feedback in the descreption.All i have to say is to change the drop system of the creeps a bit.In FFA with comps i found it very interesting.In 6v6 it was even more awsome cause of epic 5v5 or 6v6 battles:p.My pc almost went to hell.Very good job men.

Review:

Terrain-wise, Ragnarok is probably one of the best that we can see for a long while. Its simple Warcraftish designs and layout with good use of cliffs, tiles, height tools and simple doodad designing made this as unique as it can be without exaggerating it.

Gameplay-wise, Ragnarok will not disappoint you. With the wide arrays of neutral creeps to farm and its balance item drops(Keep in mind that almost every neutral camp have its own design) to strategical buildings that might just be the difference of winning and losing if used well is just perfect.

I just wanted to point you out that some creep camps is over-powered and with the wrong creep groups, ogres and dragons in the same camp is just so OP and they're also not compatible with each other. Its been a golden rule for a long time that neutral creeps of different races should not be together on one camp and even with how magnificent your map is I still can't overlook on that.

I'll not make it as long as my other usually long reviews since I rather play it again than write some unnecessary stuffs just like this one that you're currently reading.

Well how long has it been since I last played a melee map that truly captivates me and made me want to play it over and over again? I can't even remember. Ragnarok by Rene ter Horst is a magnificent piece of work with simple yet well executed and beautiful terrain, wide array of creeps with balance drops and strategically sexy.

Terrain
The terrain is good, however at some parts it still gets poor. As I love terraining myself and in my maps I set height of all rocks and crates and waterfalls by [Control]+[Home] my eye picks really easily all floating rocks and doodads. As I said at some parts it gets poor, but mostly it is entertaining and for most of the players it is very good terrain, however for me it is not that great, you should fix those sharp ramps and the black hole(s) in them (Yes my eye picks easily even the smallest bugs in the ground) as well as the floating rocks and other doodads. I must say I love the colourfull forests however I noticed that in some forests there is pretty sizy holes without trees and I think this should be fixed to avoid Zeppelin and Catapult strategy in a middle of trees however totally up to you. I must say that the terrain itself I would rate it 3/5 however when it comes to layout and the size of terrain it comes up to 4/5 in total. After I... lost the game I must say that the Ragnarok map is very entertaining to play even just because of the funny layout and extremely well used space.


Creeps
As it comes to creeps I disslike it, I think there is needlesly large amount of small creep camps and in there I don't like it, I never really liked too large maps maybe because of the long distances and huge battles which I also disslike. Well I am not really sure but I think there is too many small camps and specially at some weird points. Currently (atleast in my game) computer leveled his heroes up in tiny creep camps extremely fast and without any loss. Well I but still I think it is okay and I like the good variety of the creeps. I can not see anything major in item drops but you should check them again for example the camp with a mud golem, level 5 kobold and level 4 assassin there I think the item drops are over rated; all the creeps in there drops 2 items. And I think as the camp is not that hard 3 level 3 permanent items seems overpowered to me and as they also drops power up it is very overrated well I am not really sure how every one rates the drops but this is my opinion. Also I noticed that at some camps the creeps does not fit along each other.


Generally
Generally Ragnarok is Olaf's ult.... right, it is generally a wonderful melee map for large amount of players and it can be very entertaining for many human players just because of the large size and very good lay out. Only the issues in some parts of terrain can bring the mood down totally vote for an approval and I'd recommend it to every one who likes large melee. If you compare it to Blizzard maps you can not see too much difference in the quality. But I must say that the map can be a lots of good gameplay.

Comment: The terrain is entertaining but gets a bit poor at some times. Fix the floating rocks and sharp ramps. Lay out is perfect.

Creeps: 3/5
Comment: Creeps are okay though the item drops in some camps needs some fixing and the creep types could be improved also. In my opinion there is too much creeps and specially too many easy ones. And as the map has only 4 passive units (1 sheep, 1 dog, 1 chicken and a stag) you should totally add more.

Generally: 4/5
Comment: Generally a lovely gaming experience totally worth of 5/5 and maybe even director's cut if you fix the terrain issues and the item drops.

I Will Release an Update within 48 hrs and Mainly Address the issue about Amount of Creeps and there drops!

I will follow this guide as an reference for now unless anyone has better Suggestions

Update I Will update my creeps and their drops as first, I will look for the upcoming 48 hrs for all the feedback and then put it through.

FOr example I fixed that neutral expo only dropped Sobi Mask ( it was pointed out somewhere Else) it now drops lvl 3 random permanent, Creep camp with level 5 Kobalt drops was just an oversight he he.
