Map Info:

Experience the Dota 2 Pudge Gameplay on Warcraft 3. In Pudge Hook Wars, play as Pudge the Butcher with Dota 2 Graphics, Sounds and certain Items. Kill other players with your infamous Meat Hook as they roam the map.


Players start with 2 Abilities (Meat Hook and Dismember). Abilities can be learned upon buying from the Abilities Shop which includes the "Rot" ability that allows you to perform the Pudge Standard 'Meat Hook - Rot - Dismember' Combo.

There are also items that modifies your Pudge's Meat Hook (Hook Modifiers) such as Hook Lifesteal, Rupture Hook, Flaming Hook, Freezing Hook. Activating Hook Modifiers will change the appearance of your Meat Hook as seen below in the Screenshots. Meat Hook Damage, Range and Cooldown can also be permanently upgraded.

Lastly, Runes appear in the map every minute except the first two minutes. These Runes (Hook Damage, Invisibility, Vision, Speed, Lightning, Vitality, Gold) are very useful and can define the outcome of the clash. It is recommended to store them in a Magic Bottle for timely use.

* FREE FOR ALL: All Players are your enemies. Required number of kills to win can be from 15 to 100.
* TEAM DEATH MATCH : Player1 to Player6 are allies, Player7 to Player12 are allies. Required number of team kills to win can be from 30 to 200.

REAL HOOK MODE: (Dota 2 Meat Hook)
* Meat Hook is a Hero Ability with 4 levels.
* Hook Range is 1000/1100/1200/1300.
* Disables Pudge during Forward Motion of Meat Hook.
* Meat Hook Cooldown is 14/13/12/11 seconds.
* No curve motion and does not catch unit during retraction.
* Grants 500 vision upon hooking a unit.

* Hook Range increases by 50 at level 5, 10, 15, 20.
* Dismember Damage increases by at level 9 and level 18.​

"-unhide" : Removes Invisibility of Black Market.
"-gold" : Change starting Gold to 1000.
"-onehit" : Initial Meat Hook Damage is 9000.

- An alternative and fun way to master Pudge's Meat Hook Skill.
- Obtaining certain passive Items shows an attachment graphic effect (e.g. Aghanim's Scepter).
- Contains Hook Modifier Items which add effects to Meat Hook (e.g. Rupture Hook).
- 6 Different Runes spawn every minute except the first two minutes (e.g. Rune of Vision).
- 8 Buy-able Abilities that makes your Pudge unique to others and fits your gamestyle (e.g. Swarm of Flies).
- Strategic Items such as Observer Wards, Sentry Wards and Smoke of Deceit.
- Includes famous Dota Items like Blink Dagger, Force Staff, Blade Mail and many more.
- A good human-like AI which can also be commanded if an ally.
- Dota 2 Graphics which includes Models, Textures, Icons, UI, Terrain, Doodads and Dota 2 Sounds.
- AI Difficulties:

* Easy AI takes normal experience and gold. It has a poor Hook Targeting Accuracy.
* Normal AI takes normal experience and gold but has a Human-Like Hook Targeting Accuracy.
* Insane AI takes extra experience and gold and has an impossibly insane Blind Hook Target Guess but has a Human-Like Hook Targeting Accuracy.

* Casting Hook no longer disables Blink Dagger but limits Max blinking range to 400.
* New Item "Smoke of Deceit" which gives invisibility and bonus movement to self and allies within 1000 radius. Invisibility and bonus movement is lost upon moving within 900 of an enemy Pudge.
* Rune of Invisibility provides additional buff that makes your hook 80% transparent for 35 seconds.
* Hook LifeSteal now has an active Ability that gives a greater LifeSteal percentage depending on the Hitting Distance.
* Rupture Hook now has an active Ability that will reduce the Strength of the dragged unit depending on the distance. Dragged unit loses 1 Strength per 75 distance traveled.
* Meat Hook speed (1600) matches with Dota 2.
* Pudge movespeed (285) and turn rate (0.7) matches with Dota 2.
* Pudge Hook Radius (100) and Collision Size (24) matches with Dota 2.
* Pudge Cast Duration (0.3 + 0.51) and Attack Animation (0.5 + 1.17) matches with Dota 2
* Pudge Starting Attributes (25 Str, 14 Agi, 14 Int) matches with Dota 2. Attribute growth changed to +3 Str, +1 Agi, +1.5 Int per level.
* Pudge Sight Radius changed to Day: 1500 / Night: 800.
* Added Tips system which helps new players learn about the map, gameplay and items by displaying important tips. Tips are displayed upon typing "-tips".

Gameplay & Bugs:

The gameplay is simple, kill the other Abominations.
The itens placed in the markets are good, well fitting for the map. And the markets are placed in strategic position.
The abilities that the player can buy are good. They're creative and unique.
The gameplay itslef is excelent, and the AI are well made.
But for some reason, the team gameplay couldn't be chosen, you should fix this bug.

Terrain & Aesthetics:

The terrain is good. It's well detailed, a good placemant of doodads, terrain heigh is good, the tileset used is good, and there's no need of a tile variation. Those imported models are good, the HQ terrain makes the game different, and quite intresting.

Presentation:

The description seens decent:
The Map Info is okay, but the reference to the "original" Pudge Wars is unnecessary.
The Features are good, everything that is in there was found in the map.
The Screenshots are nice, quite of intresting, they show some quality.
The Change Log is okay, nothing to say since you follow the rules.
The Credits are okay aswell.
But something called my attention in your description:
I found other maps in hiveworkshop that use resources/models from other games (Pokemon TD Team Red v2.0) meaning this map should be approved as well for using the Dota 2 Pudge Model.
You shouldn't be demmanding your map to be approved, it doesn't matter how many maps with DotA style has been approved, your map is your map.

Pudge Hook Wars v2.5 + AI is a new attempt in creating a new pudge based map. The gameplay is what is expected in this hero arena, hooking, dodging and all. It did bring a few features that could help boost the gameplay's quality, but the map is not as expanded compared to other arenas out there. The terrain and other visuals are customized for it to resemble DotA 2 to make for a fresh new look from the original and other type of Pudge Wars maps.​

To be frank, the gameplay is a spawn and encounter an enemy kill fest. It's accommodated by an average amount of simple items and variations in modes.

Sometimes, the game is just luck unless a player has knowledge about the items. Sure, games of luck isn't a bad thing (some people enjoy this type of gameplay), but in a competitive based map like this, it's unfitting.

The map has some damn Call of Duty spawns! Okay, in all seriousness, sometimes you spawn right near an enemy and sometimes your across the map. Many say that this could prevent spawn killing as spawning isn't only in one or two areas, but they're wrong. It's unfair to have full health and easily kill an enemy you spawned near. It's also unfair to be killed when spawning due to spawning near multiple enemies. What could be done to fix this problem is to add temporary invulnerability and disabling spells and attacks by the spawning player.

The variety is also slightly lower than expected. Yes, there is FFA and TDM to choose from with a side option to pick for each, but that's about it. There aren't any other arenas to play in. There aren't any of the beloved CTF, Zone Control / Domination type of game mode, mini-game, and duels many arenas have to offer. What does make up for it though is the fact that there is a nice variety of items and a few runes. Sure, there isn't the classic latch on type of feature in a hook but there is a fair amount of styles to play with the different hooks there are.

Regarding the leaks, well the map is protected so they can't be checked. From my experience the map was running fine and lag free on multiplayer and singleplayer.

The AI? The AI were great. They responded well to varying scenarios. The only criticism in relation to the AI is that you didn't state whether they have difficulties or not.

Overall, however, the gameplay of the map can be a fun grind with friends if they are willing to play a more laid back competitive hero arena. There is some strategy involved if meddling with some items and hero positioning, but downloaders might just have to be aware before hand of moments where they may possibly curse at the screen because of a lucky kill.
TERRAIN & AESTHETICS

Importing tiles and doodads and using them was the best part of the terrain. However, it doesn't nearly look as pleasing as it could be.

I can foresee some users complaining about the borders, but those who do have a point. Having the edges of playable area being black borders gives the impression that the author was lazy in decorating the edges. It also does not blend well with the environment at all. The doodad placement was also sub-par. A few high rez trees and brushes were present, but the fact that they were placed in a scattered manner made it look rushed.

As for other things like the pudge model and its abilities, they look great. The map can always use a more appealing UI.
MISCELLANEOUS

A quest log is missing, but that almost always is never required unless you don't have enough information. In this case, you have enough due to a decent description, in-game announcements, and informative tool-tips.

Regarding the implementation of DotA 2 content, well yeah, those are allowed. See Valve's statement regarding the use of their content in other areas.​

Wow!! thanks for this long review. I have read every single word in it. I will continue to try to improve if necessary.

Things like:
- The Map border (But This will cause the map to have greater file size since its has increased in doodads number)
- Player will only respawn away from battle.
- I will use a more appealing UI.

What? This was on playdota?? Maybe someone uploaded it there since I also posted this on epicwar. I did not upload this on playdota but if they are giving credits and avoiding plagiarism, then I guess it is ok.

I will upload soon (v2.6) an optimized version which will have lesser file size.

Don't know if this is a bug, but I will look into that.

The Shop Location is indicated at Elapsed Game Time = 1 second by a ping on the minimap that is why they know.

If you are looking for map tester for v2.6, im your man.

you can send me the map file before the release and i will check for bugs.

By Feb 28, Saturday. I might have finished all the updates needed. At that time, I will send you the Beta Version and if the discovered bugs were fix or there are no bugs at all, I will upload v2.6 Official on March 7, otherwise it will be delayed.

Here are the list of bugs i saw..

BUGS :
*AI SEEMS TO HANG AROUND AT A CERTAIN LOCATION.
* WHEN I SHARE SOME OF MY ITEMS, AND LOOK AT HIS INVENTORY, THE SHARED ITEM IS GREEN... GREEN!
* THE BAR OF DISMEMBER IS STILL GOING EVEN IF THE CASTER CANCELED IT.
* THE GAME CRASH AT THE LOADING SCREEN IF THE RESOLUTION OF WARCRAFT IS LOW AND/OR IF THE TEXTURE, QUALITY, PARTICLES, ETC ARE ALSO LOW.
* AT V2.5 THE ASSIST IS WORKING FINE BUT NOW THE ASSIST DOESN'T SHOW.

THIS ARE ALL THE BUGS I SAW, THANKS FOR THE BETA SF.
PLEASE FIX IT.

Ok I managed to fix the Dismember Bar and Assist System. I will try to fix the corrupted icons as well (the green ones, green!!).

About, the Low resolution, I do not know how to fix that. I will try and search the solution.

EDITS: I also fixed the green icon of Manta Style (Shared).

PUDGE TIP : AT A 1V5 UPGRADE DAMAGE AND STRENGT PLUS BUY 2 HEARTS 1 HOOD AND 1 MANTA. THAT'S WHAT I BOUGHT, AT FIRST I SUCKED ( 9/16/0 ) BUT AT MINUTE 35 OR SOMETHING, I STARTED TO GET ( 47/29/0 )........

I didn't see any bugs except for 2 things, i don;t know if this is a bug or my eyes are wrong.
* MY HERO DISSAPEARED AT A CERTAIN LOCATION ( DOWN THE HILL AT THE UPS, NOT ON THE RIVER ).
* MY HOOK RANGE IS 2000 BUT SOMETIMES IT FEELS LIKE 1000.

I am not sure of this... If you want, i can give you replay of the game....

( With High Mana cost and long cooldown, like 180 mana and 180 cooldown ).

Your suggestions may be applicable in other versions but not v2.6. About the Kill Game Message, I specifically made it "t(o_ot) has been killed" to add mystery to the killer. Right now, my concern is looking for bugs and not suggestions.

Due to the turnout of events, I may have to delay the official map upload (been very busy with other stuffs) to sometime between March 10 to March 12 just to be sure it is totally bug-free.But its totally worth the wait.
