Pre-Damnation

15th Mini-mapping Contest (Abelhawk) submission.
Hidden content featuring burning skeleton archer and more.


Join an arena up to 6 skeletons in a FFA fast paced battle royale.
Host will determine lives at the start of the game by typing "-lives xx" (xx being the number of starting lives), and also can type "-dps" which will periodically damage every skeleton on the map.
Shot others down with your burning arrows, jump around, outplay.
Feast on burning souls shard to regain hp, kill players to gain max hp.
Avoid going into hellfire walls as they oneshot.
In the middle are the 3 cursed blademasters, spinning forever dragging you in and finaly slashing you with their blades.
Fire circles teleport your arrows from one to another.
When burning souls die they damage in a circle of 175 AOE for 75 damage and knock you back quite a bit.

NOTE: Killing the item carrier makes the game much more interesting. The tiny "critter" carries a bow of amazing fire.


Drop to 0 lives - lose.
Last man standing wins.

1.1 - Fixed forces, viable for multiplayer (I hope). Player 7's units don't get controled by available player 7 slot.

Great thing now you can open multiple instances of Warcraft III.exe to test LAN. You should put the camera over the player hero instead of to a random location/center of the map. Hero glow? How to add Hero Glow without Modeling Changes made...

Just played a quick game with my friend, we were able to "obtain" the item by "killing" the drake.
Was a fun quick 1v1, you have excess inventory slots (as only 1 obtainable item exists if I'm not mistaken). You should remove players who aren't playing. Other than that the map was a blast. Also why is the skull uspide down?

Thanks for the rating :). I might add items in the future, as a market of some sorts - the bottom middle part of the map so I didn't bother changing the inventory.
You need to put them at closed I believe the players that are not playing - I have a trigger that checks if it's a user, might change it later idk... Since it was supposed to have AI.
The upside down is a reference to a burning skeleton falling down to hell. Looks funny xD but I like it so it's there like that.

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

Great map, congrats on 3rd place!

Please fix the team 1 for everybody issue so it can be started in multiplayer.
Imho, I find it quite embarrassing that blizzard left this issue in the game for over half a year already since they acknowledged it, especially when it should be so easy to fix (if it's not easy, I'd love to hear why). I watched Abelhawk's stream on youtube and seeing him struggling and unable to start this map was very frustrating for me to see.

This isn't even the only map that is affected. Another recent example I came across is Forest Party. And before you say this isn't an issue because map authors can easily fix it themselves, or that it is their responsibility, be aware that older maps with this same problem may be protected and its authors unreachable.

I'd also like to mention that the workaround for mapmakers of making a second force can affect gameplay, for example you are unable to share control through the F11 menu with players from a different force, even when everyone is intended to be on the same team.

In conclusion, it is my opinion that blizzard should deal with this issue, not mapmakers.

I'm sorry but we can't just leave stuff in Maps which isn't playable. We'll set it to awaiting update until either Blizzard or the author fixes the issues.

As someone who started playing this game around 2013, I don't remember the time when you could NOT start 1 team only maps in multiplayer. This issue only resurfaced because blizzard got rid of hosting bots.

I agree in the short term authors should update their maps to keep them playable, but in the long term I expect blizzard to fix this.

I don't know... Just tried local area network on 1.27 with one team only and it says: "All players are currently on the same team; You must have at least two team setup to start the game."
It's the same thing as with 1.31.1. I have no idea what version you've been playing, maybe 1.26?

I've always been playing on the latest version. The reason I never ran into this issue before patch 1.30.2 is because I always played using hosting bots, with which you can start a map even when there's only one team.

Bottom line is, the game wasn't made for 1 team only multiplayer launch. That was possible by external means. I don't consider this Blizzard's fault then. They didn't break their own game regarding this matter.
When it comes to out of game programs running through the original program, it could be a security risk.

So, as with .mpq model editors that don't work anymore due to .casc, Blizzard might have had to do something with the programs shifting to out of order, it wasn't necessarily their problem or intentional as much as it might pain people.

Those things are easily done, I haven't done them since I rushed the map, as I mentioned before.
Hero glow would mean the model has been edited - I wouldn't be using an easter egg model :p as per the competition.
