Pond

A pond doodad.
Originally this was meant as a part of a bigger model along with the Floating Grass Sphere (seen in the preview image).

But splitting the two opens up for more options.
I hope you can make use of it.

Update 1:
-The pond now has some kind of flowing water
-The water has also been darkened

Keywords:
Pond, water, circle, spring, stream

A fish jumping out of water is a neat idea, If you like that, then go with that. Basically, at the very leart add minimal complexity to the piece.

You could make the water rise and sink slowly. There's many things you could do to it. I suggest looking into the night elf moon well for inspiration if you really don't have a clue how to give it more life.
The vegetation could also sway in the wind, for example.

well i could just suggest you to redo the water plane so it uses a slow-ish texture animation, like the ingame water planes, few were created to simulate water rising

also a rewrap of it could be good, as something tells me you made the 'water' mirror, while in this case it shouldn't :xxd:

other than that, i don't think it needs any additional bells and whistles

Thanks for all the comments :)

Nice Pond
more like a Realistic Pond
But Try to animate its Grass around the Pond
that will be look more great

If the grass in War3 was animated I would consider it. But if this doodad is used in conjunction with standard War3 models it will look odd if the foliage on this waves but everything else don't.

That really reminds me of the wells in Diablo II. Maybe you could add a death animation of the pond drying up, that would be useful if someone wants to make it function like in diablo.

The other animation ideas here are not bad, but I think some simple expanding water rings in the pond will make it look peaceful, yet animated.

Currently 4/5 :)

Those are some really good ideas BR.
I'll use both, I don't really like the flowing water that is right now.

Pretty nice model, but I think ALL those rocks and Shrubs should be removed (we can add them manually in the editor by doodads) and there should be only water (imho there are rare water models, and there is only 1 good water model on earth for wc3 [Tobyfat50 supposed to make another one before his AFKness]).

I think there only should be the water alone, but others might think something other than this, but if I have to use the Pond model, I will Definately ask you for an edit to remove them by myself.

(Or you can upload a water-alone version)

You made a very good model tbh.

This model was meant as a pond not just water. I had a talk with a moderator because I had concerns about whether or not I should leave the grass.
We agreed that leaving them was the best choice. He said something like "don't leave out detail just because a user can add it by himself".
I agree.

I get your point on having a simple water model. That is just not what I wanted to create.
I'm sure you can get someone to make one for you, it should be fairly simple.

Thank you for your comment!

this model has potential.

pros:

sometimes its laziness that makes us want models as units to perform rolls doodads and regions cannot, this models cool.

I like the idea of a death animation lowering the water so it can act like a night elf moon well. not sure if you have implemented that yet but if not that's definitely a good idea. the animation name for the water rising would be needed too, a good animation name for that is either birth or morph alternate. I would use ''stand'' ''stand alternate'' ''morph'' and ''morph alternate'' 4 animations would seal the deal.

remember the water wouldn't have to go downwards for ever it'd only need to go sufficiently below the ''0'' Z point, where all stuff vanishes under ground in warcraft 3. the nigh elf moon wells vanishing point is higher because its basin goes above the ground.

the rocks are sunken ruins which means they fit virtually any map with any greenery on it.

the waters pretty dark blue but looks real good.

cons: (currently)

the plants don't move. this is always a con. don't ever let any body tell you different. plants are not stone they wiggle even just a little bit, wana know how I know? look out your window literally any time of day or year, your grass will be moving (even just tiny bits) at all times.

you should give each plant a single bone and imitate the kinds of things I did with my plants, such as this one here:

http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/...plantav056-245408/?prev=u=kellym0&r=20&page=2

its simple clock rotation directed movements, 12:00-3:00-6:00-9:00-back to 12. if each plant rotates out of sync it looks good. may be a good way to learn animating.

I think the rocks texture need some more variety, sunken ruins rocks came in a few different flavors you should do the same. perhaps even exploit rocks from other tile sets if they are green enough

in general its decent, but incomplete feeling for my standards.
